Thf/RNG merits

Lend me your wife tonight and we will talk.
I would but I don't think you'd bring her back. Can't take that risk for just a knowledge exchange. But if you want to talk gil then we might could put a deal together.

Me and Mire will bring her back, we promise!
I'm sorry to inform you but you lost Mire to a clerical error on your application. It has since been revoked and all your connections to Mire have been abolished. You're now flying solo buddy. Best of luck to ya! :rtfm:

Get back to work! >:(
My main system is down atm. It's a hardware issue so I put in a vendor call and I'm waiting for those fools to show up. So that gives me time to poke fun at goobers like you.

Sorry you lost Mire. It happens. :(

I didn't lose her, I just misplaced her!

Where do you work at anyway? lol
Can't say. You might send DOS attacks to meh servers. And thus providing me hours of work during hours I'd rather not be working. You cracker.

Back on topic, what uber rng merits you have Neo? I wanna know!

hello Mister drk and war. thf doesnt work like war and drk you know. Their ws are DEX based who cares about lolSTR. Seriously 62 base STR 80 base DEX.... and in WS 77 STR and 120 DEX.. you really think 5 more STR will make you a lot better as thf? 82 STR if you merit.. any job will call that shite if you ask me.

If you WS with 77 STR and 120 DEX, that's a very large part of your problem.

If you think 82 STR is shite, what would you call 77 STR?

Your logic says 82 is shite, for any race. You're right. It most certainly is. Yet you are content to settle for even less. Your logic fails horribly right there.

More STR and more DEX are always a good thing...Of course. However, when you WS with 77 STR, I can safely say the search for the source of the problem is over. You need more STR, period. Once you have more, you'll see. The best thing about STR is that it is not limited to one job...Or just WS. Even THF, benefitting most from DEX, will see a greater return from meriting STR vs. DEX.

If I were to ask a bowl of oatmeal some questions, I wouldn't expect any answers...Don't feel bad. Just try not to say the dumbest crap ever. Don't speak for the gritty THFs. We don't agree. Nor does anyone else.

STR > DEX

Also, you only have 77 STR on WS? Go get some N.Abj, yeish.

...How do you only get +15str for WS? Even in a full set of NQ garbage (Blue* Cote, Amemet, Spike Necklace, Warwolf, Ruby Rings, Coral Mitts...) you can get way more STR than that. =/

*Edit - Forgot they can use Blue Cote.

Have you guys even looked up the Attribute modifiers in Thf WSs?

For Cereal.

Dancing Edge has a 30% Dex 40% Chr modifier, Obviously someone meriting Chr for enhanced Dancing Edge damage would be pointless, but Meriting Dex increases Sneak Attack damage, and also increases melee accuracy, just like meriting Str increases melee dmg.

Only in a Thiefs case, Dex effects the WS Damage also.

Thieves who macro in Str Gear on their WS macros just make me laugh. There is "one" Thf WS that has a STR % modifier, and that comes from the "Relic" Dagger WS.

Where did anyone say to neglect DEX altogether? Where did anyone say to ONLY use STR?

You know what the funniest thing is?
People like you and Mdk thinking you are being informative by telling people that THF makes good use of DEX, and that it actually fucking mods SA and THF WS. Like no fucking way??!?! Really?!?!?! For motherfucking cereal?!?!?!

Shut the fuck up. The reality is that this shit was newsworthy when the first THFs hit level 60. Today it's common knowledge available from even the shadiest of sources.

The discussion is THF MERITS. In that regard, STR >>> DEX.
We're not talking about how DEX mods Dancing Edge and how it affects Sneak Attack. We're not talking about your mother, and please, let's not start. We're talking about THF merits. You merit STR unless you are stupid. I can't spell that out any more clearly. Your race doesn't matter. STR > DEX, as it pertains to MERITS....Not WS modifiers.

Well then, it becomes a matter of what job you play as mainly. If you are a Thief, and nothing but a thief, Merit Dex, Merit Dagger, Merit triple Attack. If you play other melee jobs too, Sure Merit up some Str. If I were a Rng I would merit Str too.

This is a Thf/Rng thread. Go waste your strength on another thread, lolpun.

And how does Merits not pertain to your WS damage, would someone explain that to me? Would a War expect better WS damage from meriting 5/5 Str? yes. Would a thief expect better WS damage from meriting 5/5 Dex? yes.

What has been itterated time and time again, and that you have missed time and time again, is that STR merits will net your THF or RNG (AND any other melee) more milage than DEX merits.

Write that down.

milage, bullshit. Str doesnt do shit for a Thf, not for WS dmg, not for melee dmg. You'd be "far" better off stacking attack/haste/acc+ gear on TP build. and then DEX and CHR w/e on your WS macro. The amount of STR it takes to gain even 1 attack is a lot, So meriting STR as a thf solely for a few more attack and "No" WS dmg increase just seems retarded to me.

STR and DEX... the neverending argument.

It seems never ending because it's hard for a lot of people to decide as to what the "perfect" merits are for their character.

Especially throwing in the factor that many people have multiple jobs to play, so balancing what merits are the most benefitial can be difficult. As I said before, if you have thief, and another melee job lvld Sure, Merit Str to your hearts content. Or if you're just a War/Drk/ or Sam etc, 5/5 STR would be best for you.

Thief is a special case however, as DD equations go, and to someone who plans on only lvling thief as their DD job, I recommend DEX.
