Whats wrong with "/wait 1"?

I do notice about once out of 50 SATAVB my macro fails. Happened a lot in Garliage, level 50ish. Will the .5 fix that?

/wait 1.5 is what you want between SA and TA and between TA and WS unless you're in a super laggy area, then maybe bump it to 2

I seriously rarely ever have problems with /wait 1. Do you ever have your macro misfire (i.e. WS doesn't go off) with 1.5. Like I said it's super rare but it happens to me. I don't see a need to switch to /1.5.

I kinda think wait /1.5 is in the vein of "THF has to hit last for TH" and "putting things in the craft window in a certain order helps." Superstition.

Stevie Wonder rocks by the way.

Bold = Random

And if you dont have a problem, then don't change it, keep in mind I run on shitty-6k (56k) and sometimes /wait 1 will cause me to skip the next line in the macro. If it aint' broke, dont fix it.

In the recent days i'ce had big trouble with just my SATA macro with /wait 1 in between. and my total delay is 407 (yikes, i know) but in one exp group i managed to swing in between sa and ta like 3 times.

I wouldn't have posted it if i hadn't tested for a difference. Think about it guys... if spells can have a cast time of .5 or 1.5 then why wouldn't /wait be able to as well?

The problem i often had with /wait 1 was that one of my skills wouldn't go off, it would say it was too soon or something. /wait 2 often caused a big enough delay that i might attack before the WS went off. Frankly, i don't care if you do not believe me about 1.5 but i have been using it for a long time now and it works beautifully. Also, like i said i have used it to make the /wait time inbetween enfeebles and the like on other jobs more accurate, and it works there too.

BINGO!

...and yes, when I am hasted I sometimes swing inbetween a /wait 1. Rare but it happens. An increase in my wait line would make this happen more often.

P.S. I love my Hornetsneedle.

I wasn't going to post until I went home and tested it AGAIN... but I feel the need to. When i did Wait 1.5 vs 1 I saw absolutely no difference.

I did however notice that somethives that use Trick first experience the problem of the swing between primes. I notice you refere to it as TASA and can only assume you use your TA before SA. I stuck with the SA, wait 2, TA. And have never once had a 'in-between-swing. But I have however done TASA and had that problem.
I switched to TASA because I could easily cancel out the SA part if the monster didn't turn and not waste the SA part by mashing my WS macro instead during the 'wait 2' part of the macro. but when all was going well I found about 1:10 would misfire and slip a hit in between the job abilities. Which if you are stackng a weaponskill han be exceptionally hazzardous to your health...

Phraust readies Trick attack.
Phraust scores a critical hit! the Prossecionaire takes 180 points of damage.
Phraust readies Sneak Attack.
Phraust readies Dancing Edge.
Phraust uses Dancing Edge, the Processionaire takes 400 points of Damage.
The Processionaire owns Phraust...

but to be honest none of the waits matter to me any more. I am always primed before a fight, and my SA and TA are split up now on some equiptment swapping macros to maximize damage.

Prime, Pull, Skill, Trick, Sneak, Store, Scout.

THF often has to wait for the tank to line up.
All arguments against initial SATA seem to be "what if" scenarios...

Have your shit together, pop the MOB, quit whining about SATA possibly having the potential to suck.

Hmm I don't think you really understand because you don't have any other support DD jobs above lvl 40++ (such as DRG, WAR, SAM, and RNG/NIN). Therefore, you don't really feel what it's like to be a SATA partner. Anyway, that 'what if' purpose always happen, not rarely happen in exp pt. You don't see it because you look from THF's perspective. I am also THF52 and now I know how to play it w/o messing up with PT member especially SATA partner.

Yesterday I play with THF as RNG50/NIN25. PT tanker was NIN and I was the puller. I pulled mob, NIN did his job lining behind mob and THF tried to do initial SATA. It was hard to do SATA line up because mages spam enfeebling magic and mob always ran towards mages in the beginning of battle. I have to wait his SATA recast up because of his initial sata n not 100tp yet till mob's HP turn 50% (because I hit antica like 70-100dmg) then did SC. When SC is done, mob died without MB and I went to pull next mob. The THF said @30 and I was thinking does he still want to do initial SATA? So, I pulled next mob, tanked it for like 20sec w/o nin voked it and lost 60% of my HP. This is not fun if only you know what its like to be sata partner, especially without provoke ability...

This is only happen to my rng level 50 job. And it will become more harder when it come to high level. I don't think it is very worthy to do that with those jobs who can gain high tp rate.

I think its because the theif was not playing their job well, and i think that you as a 52 thf :p should have made a suggestion on how he could have done it better. Initial TASA is very managable, espeacially at lower levels. but... /sigh whatever.

Wow, I forget about the thread and see what happens

Anyway, Phraust, With the whole ring thing, yeah I was bustin your chops :P And can only dream of the day I'll be able to just toss out the money for Snipers and a Harness. Damn coffer nerf...

But once again, Awsome post to start with, but it seems to have gone down hill with alot of arguing as to the basic valitity of an Init SATA and things of that nature that people "Don't see the point in"

Simply put, Placeing a Thf, Rng, Pld in a group will work out, as long as the Pld has enough control not to go hate happy. One person mentioned the flsh then /ra idea. Cool, awsome, provided you can strip the grubby little fingers of all those Whms, Blm, And Rdms that are leaning over their keyboards smiling demonicly smashing their key boards to pieces trying spam spells in the fist 1/4 of a sec. :shock: Scary thought, but seemingly true.

But once again, I have to go with my friend the Nin in order to make things go smooth. One cause they need a Thf and they know how to loose hate. Because they know, if they don't that Rng across the way is going to take the "Precious" if they like it or not :P This imo alows for the only acceptable way to use a Thf's abilities to the fullest, and allowing for the most wicked Dmg in nay PT I've ever seen. Although, at 65, I'll take anything I can get. Hell, the other day I wanted to see how long it would take to get a response to my Search that said:

@ (Whaterver) {Looking for group}
JP/NA {party}-{/yes} HP-{Jeuno}
Pull/main heal ok! b(^-^')

This is how desperate I have become...

Somone had also mentioned the Rng/Pullers shadows running out. Ok, yeah that happens when they are clueless and try and put an arrow in the cats eye from 2 feet away to make sure they hit it. But for the ammount of hate that is placed onto the tank with that init SATA will have that Rng breathin free with his shadows the rest of the battle for the most part.

And I read something somewhere that made me start pissin my pants to the effect of "Don't even bother wasting your time with SCing with SATA, it's not worth it". What PLed Party did you crawl out of?!?! Ever since Viper Bite, Thfs have been out WS everyone (Cept some Sams). And most of us still do today fill the role of the PTs DD... Might have somethng to do with all the retards that can't grasp this whole SATA thing still :roll:

Well I've now {Um...} Lost my train of thought. I'm gonna go keep drooling over my gear that I can't afford again instead of farming for 2 months for a Snipers :lol:

And Phraust, stop being so damn rich and stuff, I have PTs that ask me, "Well I was PTing with Phraust yesterday and she had a Scorp. Harness, why don't you?"

..........

I didn't have the words....

I will say this one last time:

I have a mere 31,232 Gil to my name in all my mules. I Have 2 stacks of Chief Kabobs Donated by my Ranger of all people, and One stack left of Shihei I had to bum off somone else...

So in short, your wish is granted, I am no longer 'rich and stuff'.

Scorpion Harness I lucked out on a long time ago. I bought it when I was level 52 I think, for either 3.25 mil, or 2.5 mil I can't remember now. So I bought early. As I did with all my gear. So I may be broke, but at least I got nothing to buy...

On to camp my next Item...

And Shark Bite Rules Btw...

Heh you want my suggestion? Don't do initial SATA... :p

Best suggestion ever for thfs lol;
Think about ways in getting faster TP;
Increase Dex and Accuracy!!!
The faster you gain TP; the more SC you do. [Tripple Attack!]
Me and Dirtybird can do SC every round without hesitation. Well mostly every round without initial SATA. We compete on who gets 100% TP first (sorry DB, my meditate gave me the upper hand muahaha) Why can't you??
Again, initial SATA maybe good when you are lvl 30 till maybe 60(?) as monsters then to slightly weaker and longer delay (i think); Tankers atm still can't get that much of hate *remember Invincible is not a 1 min Job Ability*.
At higher lvl, tankers can gain enough hate by themselves. There is no point to start with initial SATA harming your PT members. Your so-called ineffiency is making the PT more efficient rather than Your so-called efficiency by operating initial SATA and making the PT inefficient as more MP is used to heal the partner or even Raise the dead??

PS Dirtybird:- Sorry had to use your name. You are too uber lol. Good example :wink:

PS Arcien:- Meh dah tolong gak. Kalau diorg refuse to ambil nasihat kita. Biarla diorg mati lol

hehe :p
Joyeuse owns a polearm anyday Kira :p

Joyeuse vs. Collasol lance(ie)
without the effect of Meditate i mean >_>

Wow, I jumped into this thread pretty late. Took forever to read through the whole thing, but I learned a few things along the way. :) Also saw just how good Phraust and Nasya really are. Don't think I'll ever be as good as them, being as I just don't care enough about leveling to get as skilled as them. ^^;; I play this game for the quests/missions, really, and leveling is just a means to an end in doing them. ;)

That said, I have to thank Phraust for his OP. He pointed out some things that really needed to be said, especially the issue of spell lag. Not many mages know about that, and it drives us THFs crazy!! :evil: And I hate that BS about TH that some people pull... luckily I don't see that too much.

I have some questions, though. First off: I know I should work on getting Sniper's Rings and a Scorpion Harness... but which do you think I should get first? I'm guessing the rings, since I can already wear them... but I'd kinda like to get the huge purchase out of the way first. I don't have TOO much of a problem with accuracy yet, really... I have a Venerer's Ring I quested, plus a Bone Knife+1 in my offhand and a Life Belt whenever I'm not SATAing (at which point I switch in a Ryl. Kgt. Belt).

Also: which food should I be using at my level? I've been using Squid Sushi+1 (and god, it hurts my wallet), but recently I used a Meat Mithkabob and didn't notice as huge a decline as I thought. Damage was about the same on SATAs, and I was only missing a bit more often. Certainly not so big a difference as to justify the huge price difference. Any suggestions?

Get the Harness, then the rings.
-You will need the evasion really soon.
-You will need the accuracy really soon.

Use Kabobs... I saw a great increase in Accuracy yes, But it wasn't worth the decicit on the damage, I would be hittign 10-12 Tops, more around 4-6 damage with Sushi. I gave up on it. And you being Mithra would see even more of a Damage deficit.

First off. I don't think you know who you are talking to here... I have really good, and aside from +1 Snipers, and a +1 Scorpion harness, THE best gear I can have for my Thief all the way up to level 75....

Secondly, Yes a tank, or Tanker as you call it, can gather hate rather well post 60. But you still miss the point. And It's actually quite sad when All the information is sitting right there, but you can't see it from the interior of your colon...

Imagine if you will, If the tank has such massive Hate generation properties, how much more you could add to that? Imagine for a moment that the skillchain was at start every time. Imagine where after you skillchain, your mob is down to 25% health, and the mages don't have to use any mp for a while, the tank can stick to keeping hate with Less use of job abilities, and MP, mean while the SC partners are gathering TP while the SATA warms up; and Once both parties involved are up to 100% more the mob is finished off in one cast of a high level spell, while your thief is pulling already on the way back.

Under optimum circumstances, My SATA timer is setting about 5 seconds before I hit camp with the next mob. That means our fights are going for less than 55 seconds. You tell me how much of an issue an extra cure on your Puller/Voker is? Especially when that cure is never needed to begin with.

You want to mix it up and Use your Skillchain after a voke, fine. I will be pissing off your puller because while you are killing your mob, we've killed two, and we have more MP than you to boot.

Just because something works, doesn't mean it can't be made better.
Yes your Settup works. Mediocre at best. But it works. I simply suggested a more Optimized dynamic, that works, and works much better.

If you are eating attack food, this is the most efficent progression for them. Generally the three hour option is better, but its three hours... This list does not apply to rangers b/c many of the items do not add to ranged attack.

1-51 Grilled Hare
51-111 Navarin
112-180 Dhalmel Steak or Rice Dumpling
181-272 Miths or Boiled Cockatrice
273-307 Coeurl Sautee
307-375 Yellow Curry
376- Bison Steak

where nn-NN (number to NUMBER) = your attack range.
