If people are willing to skip one of the funnest fights in the game because they can't organize a party or whatever, fine. But seriously, some of the things in these threads make me say "what the f-!k".

My biggest problem with this is the price...200k for a not-guarunteed win? That alone is simply horrible, considering all of the runs consisted of few BLMs that were 75, thus meaning they had zero merits. [Most of these "manaburns" are meant to be 75 BLMs that have many, if not full, BLM merits.]

To make matters worse, even though there's a record of BLMs not showing (including the leader himself) as well as a number of failures and not to mention economic deflation, these runs went from 200k to 275k...to 350k. Virtually the only "good" part of this deal is anyone's failed run is allowed to retry for the previous price. I really can't express how disgusting it is that people hafto pay again, ANY amount, for something that's supposed to be entirely the responsibility of the manaburners.

I'm not sure who to flame here, the guy making these runs or the people who stupid enough to pay for this crap.

Flame Mcguyver, he'll track down the real culprits and make em pay.

Yeah, that fight is one of the best I've experienced in any game I've ever played. I heard their last run a whole bunch of people got dicked on the earring because they wiped constantly.

DM is incredibly fun to do with a normal group. I'm glad that I did it that way rather than a burn style. Not only are they getting robbed of gil, but they are getting robbed of one of the greatest fights the game has to offer. Their loss though.

Manaburning is fun! :)

That being said I've done it both ways, and I think you're missing out if you skip out on doing it the classic way.

I can sympatize with people who cant find the time to set this up the normal way. But i do agree they are missing out on a great and fun fight. It's always a rush to win thatone. I also dont have a problem with people offering to merc bc's for a reasonable price.

But i cant really sympatize with the "win not guarenteed" policy. How you even fail to manaburn that thing in the first place is beyond me. Either you are to dumb to understand how to nuke on a given time, or your lazy and cutting down on the numbers of blms to fit more leeches in on each run.

Either way, if you decide to offer to merc something for people you either got to have the balls to guarentee the win or atleast offer the money back incase of a loss. Especially when something is retardedly easy in the first place.

It can be fun to watch, and especially effective...
But this isn't really the case with that event. It's an unguarunteed win consisting of pickup-party BLMs, most of which have zero merits to their spells and may not even have remotely good gear. Something like manaburning DM doesn't require "something like 16 BLMs", it requires "something like 16 good BLMs".

Not guarunteeing win is fine. Stuff can always screwup. But to charge that much on top of no refund as well as having few BLMs who are really even capable of manaburning in the first place? The thread may as well be named "donate your money to BLMs and waste XP, sign up now". Seriously.

Lol, I agree with this, it's pretty pathetic that anyone could FAIL to win that fight... Manaburning that was so easy lol. Personally, when I did the classic method it was easy too though, only one person died.

First off, don't merc services you can not guarantee a win on or money back. People don't pay you to just try hard.

Second, I really do not mind people offering this as a service though. Trying to setup a DM run outside of having a shell with a diverse group of people who can do this fight classic style would most likely be very sketchy, unreliable and very time consuming.

If you do not have the time to put up with that it is a decent option for you...it is not like if you ever want to do the fight normally you won't be able to.

So out of context...

This is what comic dreams are made out of.

If you don't like the BLM cannon way... then don't sign up? If you don't like no guaranteed win... then don't sign up?

I don't really see where the issue is. I see people offering shit that's overpriced on the AH board all the time.. I just don't buy from them and move on with my life.

Wow, the unguaranteed win with no refund policy is just wrong.

The OP said that he's doing this because of the failures in past runs, but really why should other people have to be responsible for that, people who weren't even present on those runs.

If the gil is there to be split to the BLM's doing the event, for their time, that's fine. But if there's a wipe, understand that its not just the BLM's attending the event that lose out on xp and time, but the player who's paying you.

I can't see how any sane person would sign up for that as a non-blm to gamble 350k and the loss of time as well as xp.

When you get hired to do a job, you're required to complete the job. If you don't complete it, you don't get paid. That's how things work in the real world. Giving something in return for the attempt is considerate, but paying a fee for a job that wasn't successful? That's being taken advantage of.

In the end, I guess its up to each person to read over that part and decide if they'll take the gamble.

Trying to do DM in random retarded groups: not fun.

But yeah, when done right, it probably is the best fight I had in the game. Except maybe promathia, but that was more cuz of the music and the background. Manaburning it is the lame way!

Kinda the same problem people have with Merc'ing KSNM to BLM. Calling them lazy and what not. I can see your point Fire. Fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice...

I did DM in a random retarded pickup group. Not everyone really knew what to do, but we kinda got "in the zone" during the run and suddenly everything came together and we pulled it off. We had a wipe when the elvaan was at 1% hp left and he regened to full. A few people couldn't be raised because of where they died. But we still won, and it was pretty damn exciting. Glad we won too since we went in on my pentasphere, lol.
