because they pay 1.3 mil more for +1 more str but sacrafice 15 rang acc

don't know if you were bein sarcastic black, but those are 2 diff back peices. He's not talking about undercuting

Don't forget 10 full levels of unequippability. Kiddos pay the big bucks to not be able to equip stuff.

Well, it would also depend onthe way to obtain the item as well

http://ffxi.somepage.com/enm/10

and

http://ffxi.somepage.com/enm/12

both are 75 cap i think it says, where as Amemet is just the NM

http://ffxi.somepage.com/mobdb/1670

and it's not to hard to claim, but I believe a majority of the gilsellers(they aren't the type to undercut) get this NM and I think it can drop more than one skin, and only one skin is needed for the mantle. HQing it doesn't seem to be that rare to pop out either, i mean, look at the availability.

So, Amemet is handled by the gilsellers mainly, and Forager's Mantle is only accessible to real players, and we all know someone is bound to overprice it.

Oh and people probably buy it if the Ranged Attack won't benefit them, like for a Monk or a Drg.

And people pay 3k for NQ Amemet and lose out on 1 STR and 5 attack/ratk. Big deal. Should noone pick up HQ/quality BC/ENM drop gear anymore because it's expensive?

First, you don't pay for an item based on how hard it was to get. The game doesn't care how hard it was to get. The game cares about what stats it confers. Earth crystals drop off dragons, but they're still earth crystals. Do you see people paying 300k for serket shield because it drops off serket? No. It's 5k. You pay for the stats. That is, unless you're an idiot.

These people are idiots. Not only can they not use it for 10 more levels above an amemet+1, but all they get is +1 strength for over a million more gil spent. That's the epitome of insignificance. If a war does this, they're gimp. They have no excuse to not use a ranged attack. Same way with sam. Dragoon. Almost any meleer would do better ATTEMPTING one ranged attack per fight rather than equipping one strength. If you hit one ranged attack during 2 hours of xp-ing, BOOM. Already beat that str boost.

There is no reason to buy a Forager's mantle for that price. If you have one, I'm sorry but you're a moron.

You pay for demand and supply. Have you never had basic economics? Demand is largely based on the stats, but you are completly ignoring supplies factors. Supply solely depends on how hard it is to get and how often it can be gained (eg: 21-24hour repop nm with low drop rate).

That's all well and nice, but I HAVE taken economics courses. Amemet+1 is a superior product. And it's cheaper. It doesn't matter what the supply for the forager's mantle is. You're an idiot if you buy it. The demand should be 0.

So...umm.... why are my buddy and I selling this knife for 45 mil?

Ditto.

+15ranged attack from one attack is going to beat +1 str for melee DD over a 2 hour period? That seems rather unlikely. It is not entirely unreasonable to call the +1 str superior for most melees (who likely don't even have their ranged lvled).
It doesn't matter what the supply for the forager's mantle is. You're an idiot if you buy it. The demand should be 0.
LOL, so if the supply was 500+ on the ah and the price plummeted, demand should still be 0? Supply is low so the demand is hard to meet, thus the price is high.

You pay for a thief's knife, not because it drops of Sozu and not because the drop rate is low. You pay for treasure hunter. Treasure hunter is a God stat. That knife has no peer. No alternative. If you can't pay 40 million for it, you do without, with no alternatives.

Forager's mantle has an alternative. Not only is it an alternative, it is cheaper. It is equal in stats. It is lower level, giving you more use out of it. What happened is that SE added a consolation piece to the game when serket and amemet succumbed to gilsellers. Forager's mantle is that consolation prize. Can't get an amemet? There's always forager's. You'll have to be higher level, but it's almost the same piece. A little less useful, but it won't be inflated like amemet+1 is.

Oh wait. It's worse because people are stupid. GG making the consolation hand-me-down to amemet+1 more expensive than the prime piece.

Just to clarify, I am refering to the extra dmg from the +15 ranged attack from one attack vs the extra dmg from +1str with 2 hours of meleeing.

I can land an acid bolt per fight if I eat sushi unless it's like a goblin thief or something. I've seen a lot of meleers open up the fight with a shot at a high-attack high-delay crossbow or bow. It makes more sense than paying 1.3 million gil for 1 strength, when a L71 has...71 strength.

Could hunt a knife, that's one alternative.

There is no alternative for a DRK wearing the Forager's mantle when they hit level 72. Up until that mantle, they wear the Amemet+1. It's simply for STR+3. Spinning Slash is affected by STR_30% and INT_30% Crossreaper by STR_30% and MND_30% Spiral Hell by STR_50% and INT_50%

I wouldn't be suprised to see some uber SAM's sub a Forager's mantle for Tachi:Gekko/Kasha....Hell, most good DD will try to get every last +STR they can equip if it affects their WS.

/equip macro is your friend...

How can a Monk, a Dragoon, a DRK (E Marksmanship) or a WAR (D in all ranged stats) reliably land ranged attacks? They can't. Hell, SAMs only have a C+ in Archery. For quite a few classes, Forager's is the top-of-the-line piece. There's nothing else a MNK (for example) can use in that slot to provide more STR and Attack. As much as you want to say that Amemet +1 and Forager's are equal in stats, I can look at both pieces and tell you quite plainly that they aren't. No matter how insignificant you feel 1 STR is in the grand scheme, it IS 1 STR more than the Amemit +1.

And once again, NQ Amemet is 3k and only has 1 STR and 5 Attack/RAttk than the +1, which is what, 1.4 million? That's an even bigger difference than +1 -> Forager's for the same marginal stat increase, but it's OK to go for a +1 over a NQ but not OK for Forager's over +1?

So it's anal-retentives that drive the nonsense price of the forager's mantle, and not idiots. That's even worse.

Ok it's ONE strength and NO attack. A parser couldn't even see the difference between amemet+1 and forager's I guarantee it. There is no difference. OMG 33% more strength!!!1!10...no. Dumbasses pay 1.3 million for 1 more strength at 71. And then if they ever think about leveling another meleer, they have to buy amemet+1 again or do without for 10 levels. Level restriction is an asset. The lower, the better.

Just. Plain. Dumb.
