What if the melee is using bomb core and not a D rated bow/xbow with forager's mantle? :?

Well obviously you just throw the bomb core at the monster because the +15 ranged attack on the amemet+1 is far superior to the extra +1 str.

Damn lol, Sarcasm makes me giggle. That was pretty funny.

Gogo +1STR! is all I have to say.

frankly i'm shocked peregrine is even looking at either of these given his track record. i would think nq amemit mantle with its 1str and 10 acc and racc would be adequate.

amemit mantle borders elite, kind of shocking humble peregrine is seeking either of these, we might make an elitist out of him yet :D

Umm . . . supply and demand? It's rarer than an Amemet Mantle +1, and it's technically better for most melee. Same, if not more demand than Amemet, less supply, thus higher price.

Again, no. It's a high level amemet mantle. Nothing more. Only dupes buy it for more than amemet's are going for. That's like buying fluorites for 90k wile deft rings are 40...because fluorites have 1 more lightning +. Yeah and they're 20-some levels above defts.

I would LOVE to test the IQ of the forager's seller colum and compare it to the IQ of the buyer colum. You could probably write a thesis on the results.

What could you have done with 1.3 million? Leveled a crafting subjob. Maybe two. That's assuming that people actually craft these days and aren't just squatting on inhereted gil from past NM hunts.

Don't you know that if you're not Vang and you craft you're a gilbuyer? So that's not an option.

Its simple: Its harder to get.

Plus, haven't you ever heard the phrase, "Increasing vision is increasingly expensive" ? That was referring to microscopes, but the same principle applies to almost anything. As you get into higher end items, smaller improvements cost increasingly more. Look at the difference of morion earrings and morion earrings +1.

Also, by your logic gold should be worthless. It performs less well than say, a bicycle, has no intrinsic value in and of itself, and is for most practical purposes useless. Its rarety gives it value, not necessarily how useful it is.

Gold useless?! You are not a computer/electronics man. Gold has the lowest eletrical resistance you can find and some of the highest malability of any mineral. Gold is extremely valuable and used in many computer parts as wiring. Now if everyone would stop wasting gold on jewelery our computer parts would be cheaper. 8)

I understand gold's application in electronics fully, in fact I sell electronics.

Does that mean if I hand you a gold ingot you can make me a motherboard? Unlikely. Without a R&D team, a lot of specialized tools and resources, manpower, and Ph.D's, your gold is nothing more a paperweight.

Again, no. That would only be true if forager's didn't have competition. It does. The price has nothing to do with the supply of the mantle and everything to do with the fools who gobble it up.

I have a feeling someone wanted that mantle, but couldnt afford it >.>.

10 sales over 6 days is hardly a 'gobbled up' item, especially compared to 10 (possibly more) sales in 2 days for Amemet +1.

Oh I'm sure of it. People who can't afford amemet+1's probably wish mommy's little helpers over on the right colum didn't exist so they could get a deal.

You pay for a thief's knife, not because it drops of Sozu and not because the drop rate is low. You pay for treasure hunter. Treasure hunter is a God stat. That knife has no peer. No alternative. If you can't pay 40 million for it, you do without, with no alternatives.

Forager's mantle has an alternative. Not only is it an alternative, it is cheaper. It is equal in stats. It is lower level, giving you more use out of it. What happened is that SE added a consolation piece to the game when serket and amemet succumbed to gilsellers. Forager's mantle is that consolation prize. Can't get an amemet? There's always forager's. You'll have to be higher level, but it's almost the same piece. A little less useful, but it won't be inflated like amemet+1 is.

Oh wait. It's worse because people are stupid. GG making the consolation hand-me-down to amemet+1 more expensive than the prime piece.

It's called a substitute good. And you can't have inflation on one good. Inflation is measured using the consumer price index from a standard basket of goods between a base year, and the year you are measuring inflation for. The "inflation" you are refering to for the amemet+1 is simply an increase in its relative price in comparison to other items.

If it were truly inflation, you would hardly notice the difference because the items you are selling to make the gil will have increased as well. Of course then we could start talking about how the standard basket of goods doesn't have to be "standard" and then CPI and inflation are different and stuff just tends to get ugly...

Like I said...solid background in economics in undergrad. Stats. Econ200-series, econ300-series. I know.

Well just about every element and mineral in unrefined form would be considered worthless. You can't compare the useability of products produced after much work and refinement (bicycle) to unused materials (gold).

This is rather funny for Pere to complain about. He says +1 str is insigifigant and not worth spending 1mill+ extra on. Yet, by that same logic +1str and +5rng attack given by +1 amenient mantle would also be insignifigant and not worth spending +1mill extra on. So if Forager is a waste of money, so is +1 amient. Your logic counterdicts itself.

And by THAT logic, every time we go out and party with anything better than Onion Swords and level 1 RSE, we're only feeding the greed monster that is the AH and other players.

Mmm no. Statistical significance. There is a significant statistical difference between a Neckchopper and a brone axe. And not only that, the difference is important.

So why (I think this is the fourth time the question has been posed) is Amemet +1 > Amemet ok, but Forager's > Amemet +1 not ok? Surely you don't believe that 1.4 million is worth 5 attack, 5 ranged attack and 1 STR, not when 1.1 million for 1 STR is also insignificant.
