Well this isn't really a story about farming for gear and what not, but back in my noob days I was told by my cousin (who introduced me to the game) that resting next to trees in Ronfaure would make it to where Orcs wouldn't aggro me.. Looking back on it, I kind of wondered if she had just told me that to fuck with me, but then I realize she's not that kind of person. So I guess we were both just stupid and young or something lol.

I shit you not, I learned at level 3 that just because you kill the goblins around the campfire in East Sarutabaruta, that does not mean you get to claim that campfire as your own so you can keep safe during the nighttime hours.

Omg that's so funny lol. My god we were so naive.. part of the game died for me when you guys quit TG. I miss your nerdy voice yelling at people over vent during Dynamis <3

LOL I just got this wonderful image of you being in a bronze subligar, kneeling by a tree, and cursing everything as you get aggroed by an orc.
"THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN I WAS NEXT TO A TREE!!"

LMAO!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this XD

You know how once you're familiar with a zone, you tend to stop either making map markers or looking at them? I pulled up my West Ronfaure map the other day to find someone I was partied with and noticed that at some time in the past, I'd made one marker:

"Orcs," it said.

I can't remember what prompted me to create it, but I bet it wasn't a pleasant experience . . .

Back in my initial days, after engaging a monster, I'd auto-lock onto the monster and run in circles around it, in order to "dodge" the attacks. It took me maybe 15 minutes to realise that standing still, the monster had just as much of a chance to hit me as it did if I ran around the thing.

Ahaha! I did this, not just for 15 mins though. Until someone went to me in a dunes party "dude, wtf are you doing?" and explained to me it made shit all difference.

RDM was my first job and I confused diaga for a stronger version of dia. It took getting owned by about 5 yags, 2 mandys and a elemental for me to figure out that the spell hit more than one monster.

I even asked my LS "I've been killed 5 times for no reason now because EVERYTHING is agroing for no reason" it wasn't until someone asked what I was casting they told me why I was getting owned.

LOLOL That so reminds of "Here There Be Monsters" or "Dragons Here" on ancient maps :D

I used to think that goblins aggroed if you slapped them because that's what happened to me once when i started doing that in a pt.
When i saw my first yag i thought it was some cripple galka(i'd heard galka were ugly) and went to talk to him/her. I then discovered aggro.

I would run around the mobs low level, haha. I would think I was the shit because I was the only one who knew this!
That got thrown in my face my first party ._.

Honestly, I've never heard anything to top my noob story.

Right about the time I was hitting level 10 or so on WAR, a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to go party in Valkurm Dunes. To which I responded "I dunno, can we get that far without a WHM? I mean, I can only fight a few mobs before I have to go back to the Mog House and rest."

That's right.

I didn't know how to /heal.

I got to level 10 without ever resting. I'd just go back to the Mog House to regain my HP.

LOL, that's pretty good, Raes.

I dropped multiple quivers because I couldn't figure out how to get the arrows inside of them.

I also used to run around the mob to dodge it's attacks. Seems it was pretty common lol

I remember being escorted to Jeuno at lvl 3war and left there. I was so afraid to leave the city I stayed there for a week running around until the dude who brought me there logged back on..

I kinda wanna come back, de-lvl my BST to 5, and level it back again.

Now that is a good story. With me, I just didn't realize there was a way to heal until level 4. I kept dying and Home Pointing, until my brother saw me do this and showed me how to /heal on my keyboard, haha.

A shit ton because I had thought they were useless for about the first two years of playing the game... I forgot about that..

Thank you for taking the time to move the initial posts from the flame and make this thread btw (Miros I think?). Have really enjoyed reading the responses to this thread lol. Soooo nostalgic

So uh . . . how many seals did you guys throw away?

(I'd rather not think about how many I tossed . . .)

When I was levelling BST...way too many. Then I found out what they were for and almost went crazy like

that D:

I was waiting for this question. Many many. I thought "What the hell was this thing I couldn't sell to anyone?" Oh well! <toss> Now it's not so bad to think about, but the day I realized what I had done by throwing BSs.......
