Those Were The Days!!!

I never did anything as bad as never resting, funniest story, i couldn't stop laughing at that one.

I remember my first dissapointment in the game, i was so into it and was incredibly excited about the idea of playing with other people all over the world. Its something simple, I was super excited to turn 21 so i could put on my fancy new green armor, just to find out it looks exactly the same as bone armor. I was so incredibly pissed, and was totally confused for a while. I totally thought i had put on my bone armor again. keep in mind i was rdm, wielding sword, meleeing.

I was so happy to sub thief...for my rdm lol my friend which was "high level" 25 war lol didn't even correct me.

oh gosh, leveling in Moon, was so much fun, anything new, and i would spend so much time on the net, trying to research new ways, new area's to level.

Great times, and a great game...back then.
 
I remember the first time Langly tried going Ninja Boom on a high level NM. It was in sky and it cracked us all up, because we all were like wtf langly!

I remember COP static with Achates, Allura, Veralynn, Tanjer, and i want to say RRB(because I remember dying with another taru) that was one of the biggest accomplishment for me in the game. Yes I did it pre patch, yes we had to farm our own keys/ccb pumps/snoll ice things(yes they were r/ex so you couldn't trade them around). It was really hard back then. I remember having to have Ikari help us out lol.

I remember Fury's first attempt at Jormy lol! Oh man that was funny, Snoll after Snoll! DY fell like 3 times it was a hilarious day.

I remember Myrrh and I duoing YYR like all the time. Those were memorable days back in the day. Me laughing at him dying to a random aga spell.

I remember having to run screaming everytime someone would train a Goblin in from a party in Yhoatar Jungle. Old school members know exactly what camps I am talking about. You would see a party run screaming into the zoneline and then about 2 goblins chasing them lol.

I remember helping lead LolD back in the day when Cythe and Gladdy were still around.

I remember being able to tank JoL the first time ever as a PLD/RDM, fun times!

Aye, I remember the old days of Sky. I remember going PLD/WAR and kiting... well... just about everything. I remember RNG burns on Kirin (which, ironically, I've done again recently, since while 30 second speed kills are all well and good, when you're doing 6-7 Kirins, they're not really feasible). I remember the day in Rise when we figured out that the RMT knew which placeholder was Ulli's placeholder, and that all we really had to do was watch them and follow them. I remember epic 12 hours Ulli camps.

I remember Foomania. \m/ I remember my first Dynamis-Jeuno, as a level 73 purple PLD, and being one of the only survivors at the end. I had a picture of me standing on a mound of corpses on my old PC...

I remember leveling just about everywhere... I remember a bunch of friends helping me to get over that last bit of xp to get PLD to 75, right when I was on the verge of quitting in frustration. Fattie, Samaflange, Zalbag, Vindicative, Dreamreaper and Begen, who wound up in what was one of my extraordinarily rare Good Times posts. 8 hours of events followed by 6 straight hours of xp partying. God, without them, I might have quit way back when, and had all that time to do other things.

Why did I thank them again?

I remember pissing off just about every endgame shell on the server at one point or another on these boards, lol. I think I managed to get myself blacklisted from half of them before I ever hit 75.
 
lol I miss trains too, whether it was the dunes, the jumgle(s), the Citadel, the nest, Gustav, Kuftal . . .

I miss those and bein able to play "hero" and dismantle the trains.

Me and a bunch of my friends used to stand around outside Selbina with our flags up on our jobs of various level playing "Defenders of Valkurm" XD

Yeah he's in my legion in Aion now. He's not really that bad anymore. Over most of the other people in the legion, he's one of the few I could actually trust right about now.
 
This thread reminded me of the huge flame on me about botting...god damn was that some great drama. That thread was massive too, I think it was one of the longest (top 5ish) on the FB, especially at the time. Fuckers deleted it or something though lol, its gone!

Blaze, I think I remember those conference calls...I took part in one I think with Devifoxx...that shit was like 5 years ago. EXP grind to 75 on my Samurai was easily ten times harder than on my last few 75s. Not only was it more EXP, but exp/hour was insanely low and SAM wasn't the god it is today. I had a 5k/hour party on Coerls and everyone was freaking out at how awesome it was...3k/hour was always pretty standard. Being a SAM and doing two skill chains with the other two DDs was always pretty fun though, especially when it got to light and dark. Lots of memories, I could go on for hours and hours...I shoulda wrote a book when they were still somewhat fresh.
 
It's probably still there, I've noticed that search has been significantly wonky, at least since the "upgrade".

And yeah, god, how I remember those parties where 8K an hour was freakin' incredible.

Playing NIN with double march and balls out haste/dual wield+ gear is one of the biggest things I miss. That shit was so fun lol, just nonstop swinging. First time I did double march + unsho/unji way back in the day I about shit myself. The 2hand bufff was cool and all, but Dual Wielding to me was a lot more fun.

What do I remember?

I remember blowing a huge chunk of money on a goddamn tunic.

I remember training a bunch of goblins through the dunes, attempting to escape, and then getting yelled at by three people because they thought I did it on purpose.

I remember doing a bunch of brotacular things with my social shell (Rank 3 dragons and doing Brenner the day it came out with another linkshell come to mind).

I remember subbing RDM on Bard because leveling WHM to 37 seemed like a pain in the ass, and I didn't want to main heal for 37 levels. Now my WHM is being leveled adjacent to my RNG...

I remember being jewed out of item drops and money splits multiple times because I was naive and trusted people way too much.

Things I remember

Spending two weeks as Whm09/nothing cause things that were Ep to me kept killing me, I had to be PL'd to lvl 10. I was a terrible melee whm

never wanting to use Dia cause the initial dmg it did was much lower compared to Banish. I didn't know it was a DoT Spell

My first pt in Jeuno called me an idiot cause when they asked me to Pt I was in the Dunes and the only way I knew how to get to Jeuno was through Tah Canyon/Merph Mountains so I took the boat back and walked. Took me a long time.

Refusing PLs in the dunes when I was lvling whm cause I wanted to learn my job. I left so many parties lol

Duoing Uggy with Jya so many times.

Helping random people just to be nice. I no longer do that. Now I just insult random people.

Pting with Rappa on Smn and having him die cause Cure III just wasn't enough.

Sky Pts where chain 7 was the shit.

Moon Pts

Spending months getting a little fucking quitter taru a Shaman's Cloak.

Man, I've done so much and have so many memories. I wish I could relive em.

Discovering MMO vocab such as:

Mule - is not a pack animal but an alt character
Tank - is not a huge armored vehicle but someone who takes the ouchies from monsters
Link - Not a character from Zelda but in fact what happens when your ranger runs into that little cave in Valkrum Dunes and ends up bringing 5 lizards back :D
Camp - it sucks irl and sucks in game when waiting for 3 hours on internet dragons

Camping Ulli for 9 hours

Passing out pity party invites back in the day... you know what jobs you are/were ;)

I played back when SCs and MBs mattered

I leveled off tigers and cocks in Kufal Tunnel (sp?)

Speaking of that place.... getting chomped each and everytime I ran throught that hell hole by Gurrive (sp)

My funniest memory is when I was CONSTANTLY on the phone with my friend playing the game...even bought a headset for the phone. Finally after a few years we found out about ventrilo! LOL

2nd day playing, getting lost and Eastern Altepa Desert. Not knowing what to do i was just checking ares and ended up as War24 saving HP at the OP and no clue where or how the hell to get back home. took me awhile didnt know about Search Area or nothing, Bladewarriors LS came to save me. After getting back to bastok, i never went into korroloka Tunnel for while, pleaced scared me. lol

Party in the Dunes was Hell and you had to walk back to Sandy to change jobs or get items you needed.

Killing sheeps and then getting raped by the Rams. ;)

I remember neisan telling me how broke he was so he went to Ghelsba Outpost and killed orcs for a few days just to make 10k

Well there' is my bllm sub

When i remade my char on quetz I got rdm to 24 or so and went to level blm for a sub I didnt like the fact that I was getting hit hard, much harder than I wanted to so after level 12 I decided to never touch the job again. Of course being retarded I went through all the trouble of getting 30 and unlocking smn a job that gets pummeled even harder than blm. Took smn for a spin realized i liked it(since I wasnt getting my ass owned directly so much) and there ya go the auto refresh sj gimp was born.

Guess its not very funny but its a long story....Germ probrably remembers me ruining Zeo's first 75 moment on his own blm and me saying the job sucks because its not versatile at all (i was around 16 rdm at the time...)

Of course even after pissing Zeo off repeatedly it was him who helped me finish the smn job quest to save my buffer on my 30 rdm because I was afraid that I would never get away from leveling blm for a sub.

Man I've said some stupid shit lol

Leveling WAR to 30 using sword and shield because I wanted to be a PLD.

Subbing 8 MNK to that 30 WAR.

Getting just enough buffer on that WAR to be able to blood warp out of Yhoator so I could unlock PLD asap!

When I got back to Bastok after my long hiatus in those jungles, I /cheered, /shouted, and truly felt like I was home.

Eleibfrid helping me do that quest, I was forever greatful.

Jazper helped get me my first piece of RSE. He was my PLD idol. Jaz: "Watch this" Jazper uses Vorpal Blade. Me: "OMG!!"

I was awesome with those RSE Gloves. I could cure myself so much now.

Spent like 200k on a Holy Phial. More like holy FAIL.

I spent millions of gil leveling Gold to 50 back during the major inflation days, only to realize I could never afford to get it any further.

Got 2x Spiked Finger Gauntlets drop from The Final Bout. Me and Exo sold them for 5 mil a piece. Crazy.

And actually, my first character was a Hume RDM named Sellmyoldclothes. Had a RL friend, ironically named "Quetzacoatl" and got dropped on this server. He got me my World Pass when we realized we weren't on the same server. I still have his name on my Friends List.

The first time I logged in, it took me 15 minutes to figure out how to move.

Quetz was a 24 WHM. He was in GreenCherry, but couldn't get me in.

He quit shortly after, and here I am today. Oh how different it could have been...
 
I remember mining. In Zeruhn. A LOT. I took basically every job that I had unlocked at the time (which was quite a few) to level 8 in those mines. Many ingots were made, much soot was redeemed, thousands of bats were slain. Getting a Darksteel Ore was a big deal for me in those days. I knew where every mining point was, and had the place mapped out for the optimal route. I used to run people out of the mines in frustration.

Close to the mines, I remember MPKing RMT fishbots in Korroloka. A LOT. Several friends commented that they could always tell I was in the Tunnel by the stream of fishbots running back to their locations after I "accidentally" got them killed by Fluid Spread. I had a dozen or so of them on my blacklist because I got bored with them threatening to GM me.

I remember the day I found out that /sit gets as much aggro as /heal.

I remember working through CoP with people constantly telling me "PLD can't do that, you need a NIN", and me using half the meds they said I would fail with.

I remember quite a few of the random acts of kindness I perpetrated on people, even though I can't remember who the hell the recipients were. Playing Dunes Defender like Reau, making sure that the Selbina trains didn't get out of control. Powerleveling random parties for an hour or two. Farming Carby Rubies/Genkai items/Coffer keys/whatever else I felt like doing when I was bored, for people I often saw but rarely.

I remember the PLD conversations that Sphene and I would have whenever we ran into each other, and I miss them...

That's one person I wish I could have gotten to meet, ingame, IRL, wherever. I knew someone would bring Sphene up :(
 
I remember about 5 years ago I was exping my Ninja in Valkurm Dunes, and one of our party member's friend comes to PL us. He was a Level 45ish WHM and we were exping off of Goblins at the Goblin Camp. We wipe due to a link...and get this..as long as our PL. I LOL'ed hard that day to find out he didn't have RR up either (not to mention a PL dying in the dunes, lol.)
