1. Have patience. The wonderful item you covet may be coveted by 10 others in your endgame shell, and they've been around longer. Not everyone can be in the main party, let alone in the tank party. Patience, perseverance and realistic expectations will help you tremendously.
2. Teamwork, cooperation and reliability are at a premium. Where before you could fight things with half a party, now it rarely applies. Alliances of 18, and multi-alliance fights, will happen more and more. Learn to work with others. Be a reliable member. Build a reputation for reliability. Shun a reputation as a drama king/queen.
3. Know your shell's rules about fights, points, drop priorities, etc., before you join. If you cannot accept those rules, look elsewhere, rather than waiting two months to bitch about them. If you know the rules and accept them, then accept them fully.
4. When it's a "highest points in that job gets it" arrangement, it may seem your goal is far away. On the other hand, not getting the "high lot" on an item you've been trying for months to get, when someone who's been with the shell 3 weeks gets it, can be just as demoralizing.
5. Respect your leaders. Leading an endgame shell is a demanding, and draining, responsibility.
6. Support your shellmembers in major and minor things. Go the extra mile for them. Help build an environment where they, in turn, will go the extra mile for you too.
7. Demand integrity of yourself.
8. Foster integrity on the part of your shell, its members and its leaders. If a claim is contested, is getting that pop item really worth compromising your shell's reputation with the rest of the server?
9. Communicate well and in a timely manner. Let people know what is going on, so that you don't surprise or disappoint others with unannounced absences or conflicts.
10. Do your homework. Know your job and your role in any fight - what to expect, and what to do.
11. Make it a fun and rewarding experience for others, including in particular your shellmates.
12. Do these things, and it will always be fun and rewarding for you.
All the best,
Fire (who wishes he lived up to all these ideals)
