So I have finally completed the game 20 min ago and all i can say is, wtf was up with all the bad reviews? It had its flaws sure but it certainly deserved some higher scores.
I love how in the reviews they said the story made no sense or was lacking...i loved the story. And thats because it takes knowledge of norse mythology to understand, i recognized every name, place and character mentioned and knew the back story, thus making the story much clearer.
I guess they aimed their sights on the more knowing market and left those who know nothing of that sort of thing in the dark without going into depth in the story line about most of those back stories.

Ill start with what i hated i guess:
- The Cutscene they play when you die of the Valkyrie coming down to take you to Valhalla. You cant skip it, and it takes like 45 seconds for the scene to finish. You have to view it every single time you die. and when you get surrounded by the goblins and have people shooting you and missiles coming at you all at once in some areas...you die often.
-Sliding doesnt always lock on and your left standing there in the middle of a room swinging your sword around wildly instead of sliding to the enemy, not often, but enough to be noticed.
-Ballistics seemed like an after thought, No cool moves thrown in for them its just aim and shoot and occasionally shoot in 2 different directions. No cool flips while shooting or power shots...nada. Lasers sucked too.
-Game seemed short, While the 4 areas there are take some time to get through, especially the last area, it still seemed short.
-No real reason to play multiplayer unless you want that single achievement, or farming loot and kills, theres actually 2 achievements but one of them is easily gotten in single player using the A.I.

what i liked-
-Total customization- You could put whatever stats, based off what runes you have, into any piece of gear you want. You can change the colors as many times as you want as well and get yourself feeling powerful and look cool while your at it.
-Sword play- Once you learn how to get those 2 in 1's to work, and your finishers you can ham it up with some awesome combos, especially mid air combat thrown into the mix. Coulda been some more combinations, but i still enjoyed it.
-The story- Was very cool and the end twist was cool too, cliffhanger ending for the sequel and all, but i liked how it panned out. They coulda used a little more character developement on people like HEL and the rest of the Aesir, but sticking with backing the main character isnt a bad thing either
-The spider, Battle cries and other power moves- I loved whenever i got into a bad way and was completely surrounded, i could drop my spider turret, step back and let my guns do the talking for a bit, or drop an RB explosion. Or if i was feeling like slaughtering them for trying so hard use a battle cry and go to comboville on their asses!
-Charm Quests- 1000 ballistic kills? i worked on that for like 2 1/2 areas just to get that damn charm, and it was so worth it. Its also another great way to clear up space from useless runes that dont cater to your characters needs, like i only used swords and pistols on my champion, so i didnt need rifle and hammer/staff runes.
-The different classes- its cool having different classes that play differently in SP and MP, and can be used for some team tactics in MP. Champion seemed a little stiff in the sword play area compared to classes like the berserker tho. My only wish is that they each had different combos instead of just slightly different animations based on their weapons.

i could go on forever with what i liked about the game. The things i didnt like were stomachable , well cept maybe that death cutscene. maybe theyll patch it to be skippable.
All in all it was a fun game, a good game. But not a game for everyone, especially if you dont know your mythology. I do think some things coulda been fleshed out more and had much more potential than what we were given. And i hope they embrace that in the sequel. IMO it was well worth the money and ill be making many more runs through this game in the days to come to get 1000GS

I honestly think this game would be one I'd enjoy. I hear about the bad reviews.. but.. they said that about Hellgate London and I enjoyed that game too :P I <3 Diablo type games. Games where you customize the crap outta your character. It's so enjoyable. I'm very tempted to go buy a 360 soon and pick this up (and Fable 2 and Halo 3, etc etc)

This game is incredible. The review issue can be solved easily Chas... They are opinions lol... A couple reviews of the game were 8-9s out of 10. The major sites crushed the game but i dont let them make my decisions.

The only thing i was a little dissapointed by was the co-op. I thought it was 4 player co-op this whole time and come to find out its only 2. That is still fine enough... Long as its not Jeremey you are playing with... Dude changes gear and hits the menu screen every time an item drops................................... Just teasin ya Jere HAHA.

I'm really having fun with this game, but my xbl has been so sketchy that i haven't been able to play it co-op yet. I'm having a lot of fun with the commando class, though. The game is pretty hard by yourself, because enemies strong resistances to types of damages.

Question for you co-opers: Is experience shared between everyone? Only the ones that you kill? Or like PSO had it, where you get xp as long as you hit it, but you get a bonus if you are the kill shot.

The boss fights are kinda poorly designed, at least the 2nd and 3rd stage ones,

But I still enjoyed the hell out of the game. Definitely gonna just screw around with co-op once my roommate gets his 360 back

The best boss fight is the one against HEL, tho she really doesnt do shit as long as you hit her, just takes a long time to deplete her health.

and osy, it WAS 4 player co-op but they removed it at the last minute, you can tell because theres so much space where to 3rd and 4th player would have been.

i understand reviews are opinions and i generally never let that alter my purchase decisions. but for some reason when these came out i got iffy about it, then i say fellow players bashing it and i wasnt sure if i wanted to put the cash down on it, at the store i had to decide transfer pre order over to rock band 2 and rent too human, or get too human and bite the bullet.
im so glad i bit the bullet because that shit hit the mark!

Experience is shared in Co-op as long as you are alive. Anything killed in the hour long Valkyrie cutscene won't get you experience. Also loot picked up in the time frame isn't shared.

Call this a necro, but I'm in the UK so that's my excuse :P. Just finished this on single player, and loved it. Only complaint, other than the obvious Valkyrie Death CS, was the uber-glitch I experienced on the last mission. After Hel, or whatever her name is, is supposed to summon undead, she just kinda went into a repeating cycle of saying "it was so hard to kill you, do you know how difficult it is to kill a god?". I was unable to do any damage to her, and unable to go anywhere =x. Sucked, had to go back to town and return 3 times before it'd un-glitch itself.

Other than that, loved it. Now to try online Co-op... any suggestions/advice?

You all gave me false hope. The only thing I can think of while drudgin' through this game right now is how SK stayed afloat so long if this is all they have to show for about a decades worth of work. The story is awful, the camera is awful, and the dialog throughout the game is probably the worst to be in a game, ever. I swear to god after I finish this game if I hear Odin come out of someones mouth, ever again, I'ma hurt 'um (gettin' relly sick of "By Odin's beard!, In the name of Odin, We're all watched by Odin" etc., etc.). The only pro in this game is that Baldur is Holland from the English version of Eureka 7.
