Not sure if I agree with the list entirely (I would put Deus Ex higher <3 that's for sure). I think I'd also put MW above Halo (cause it really brought more the FPS than Halo ever did). Ah well. Fun list

17 was Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

16 was Portal.

15 was Grand Turismo 3.

14 was Deus Ex.

13 was The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

12 was Bejeweled.

11 was Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (had to google the spelling.)

10 was Metal Gear Solid 2.

9 was Resident Evil 4.

8 was Guitar Hero.

7 was Half-life 2.

6 was CoD4: MW.

5 was Halo 2.

4 was The Sims.

3 was Wii Sports.

2 was WoW.

1 was GTA 3.

They put Halo above MW for one clear obvious reason. It really opened up online gaming to a mainstream audience. Seeing as there are still people playing halo 2 online now that says something.

Also you can't compare as COD is on every platform.

The numbers that Halo gets on the 360 alone is staggering really. So yeah, Halo would definitely be higher on the list then COD.

I was happy to see Half-Life 2 on that list, although I weep that it's lower down than The Sims.

Exp to online FPS pretty sure none did it before that. Same with perks and whatnot. Though I think something similar to perks was in a few other FPS, but I can't remember. I know Deus Ex I guess sorta had that for its online. But that was if you die you go back to "level 1" and you got a level per kill that you could buy the single player stuff in multiplayer (so like invisible for a bit or faster run speed or whatnot).

Halo 3 came out before COD MW and that had exp to rank up. So it didn't really bring anything 'important' as to say to the FPS genre. So why should it be higher than Halo 2 then?

Ah well then guess CoD4 didn't do anything new XD still, I say Halo is far overrated. Not bad, but overrated. I'm not a huge fan of Modern Warfare either btw. I like it, but I don't think it's the "Greatest thing ever!". Halo 2 I will admit did make console FPS huge, even if nothing new to it.

And Ranks aren't quite the same as the exp system thing lol. The ranks, iirc, really didn't do anything other than epeen.

I was more pointing out that exp is what you need to get ranks. So yeh it did have exp.

It may be pointless but exp is pointless on BST, PUP and DRG but people still level it up.

It matters what your viewpoint is on it. One being 1001-2001 is a millennium and the other being 1000-2000 is a millennium. The popular approach, the viewpoint most people use, is that 1000-2000 is a millennium and that 1-999 was a millennium even though it's one short. That being said, 2000-2009 is the decade everyone keeps mentioning. There's been a million "top 5, 10, 20, 50, things of the decade" topics.

I am very glad that Resident evil 4 made the list, easily my favorite single player shooter game. Half life 2 NEEDED to be on the list as well, amazing game. I am hands down a modern warfare man now, but before I whooped bitches in that, I worked my magic in halo 2 for a looong time. So I do think halo 2 should be ahead of it because it made fps online huge, but not better in terms of online play than cod.

WoW being #2? Well that's funny, but should not be near that close to the top. Also I think GTA games are pretty gay, but that's me. Otherwise the list is decent, could be better. But no persons list would be the same.

I don't believe that for a second lol. CoD has generally done fairly well and it's EA after all, you know, despite Halo being around or not, CoD4 woulda been there.

This. But it's really not worth being technical about it. Its just easier to lump things starting from the 00s so you can call it the 10s, 20s, 30s, etc.
