Opinions from BLMs? I've always used Elemental, but was curious if the Uggalepih Pendant would be an upgrade or something to consider doing a swap macro with?

Uggalepih pendant for XP, Elemental torque for hard NMs like JoL, Kirin etc

Elemental is best for things that might resist your nukes -- uggy for things that won't. Personally I get more use out of Elemental because I use my blm mainly for sky, sea, and limbus.

Edit: yeah what Pchan said. Also depends on your merits I suppose.

Prudence Torque for non HNMs fawk Uggy

Thanks everyone. I got the information I need. Thanks!

Uggalepih owns prudence torque lol.

Technically yeah sure. But this is assuming that you are constantly below 50% mp, and assuming conserve mp acts exactly how you want it.

Um... macros.

Start out in either Elemental Torque or INT neckpiece, depending on what you are fighting. And then macro it in when you get below/will drop below 50% MP. Should you have one? Yes. Situational piece, but can be very nice to help maximize dmg.

Meh its a so so item Prudence torque is all around good. My ugg pendant has been in my Mog Safe for a while now lol.

You should have ele/prudence/ugga as far as nuking necklaces go. prudence/ugga in exp-type situations, ele on the "harder" stuff.

I don't know why people still question Ugg Pendant. lol

You want to be a well prepared BLM? Get it. You'll use it.

Yeah, Ugga is great and it is pretty cheap right now. You should get one for sure.

I sold Ele torque and just switch between Prudence and Ugga.

When you got tons of BLMs spam nuking some tough HNM the game is not going to let every nuke be unresisted, no matter how much elemental skill gear you stack. You'll eventually get resisted, especially after that resist patch they added to HNMs last year or whatever. Things like Tiamat, JOL, Bahamut aren't gonna be killable in 15 mins with just BLMs (well maybe Bahamut since he has less hp). Often the people who nuke earliest, in say a barrage of nukes, will get the least amount of resists.

Now I'm not saying Ele skill gear is worthless, but there is a point when you got so much that it's not going to make a difference. Especially something as small as 7.

Apparently you don't know how it works. The mab+8 activates when you drop below 50% MP AFTER you cast a spell. Basically if you have 800 mps, you can equip it past 400+AM2-1mp or 400+TierIV-1 mp. It's more than enough for pudding solo or in a party.

Assuming you don't get a conserve mp trigger. Thats why I use it at half mp+ 70% of next nuke's Mp cost.

Hmm since this is a discussion about elemental torque. Let me side tracked and bring in another question. At what level of elemental magic is the optimum for HNM? I have my previous BLM friend telling me 320 elemental magic skill. But When I see the kancjin live journal (or how u spell it) he actually suggested 330 elemental magic skill. So... 320 or 330?

I cant say what is optimal. I've been playing around with INT vs Ele skill lately. (old news I know, but never any definite info)

On Kirin, which is the only high level monster I fight regularly, My Ele Build puts me at 324 skill and + 40 INT. (With Auster's) I went an entire fight the other night without landing an unresisted nuke. So clearly... I still have a ways to go.

Unless Kirin has a much higher magic resistance than other monsters? I'm naive on this subject.

Not sure but he sucks. :( Really makes you feel like an awesome blm when that Aero IV hits him for like 80 (or whatever). -.-

I know mdk tried a couple of times with high elemental setup and he said it clearly won over INT.
I personnaly only killed it twice, and yes his resist rate was at least 3/4. One time I had 1 ES aeroga III + 1 aero4 unresisted in a row and that was enough to kite for 10 minutes (manaburn setup ~1H fight).
