Uggalepih Pendant VS Elemental Torque

I know mdk tried a couple of times with high elemental setup and he said it clearly won over INT.
I personnaly only killed it twice, and yes his resist rate was at least 3/4. One time I had 1 ES aeroga III + 1 aero4 unresisted in a row and that was enough to kite for 10 minutes (manaburn setup ~1H fight).

This means nothing considering you posted no information about either gear set, or if you were eyeballing it, etc. You need an extremely maxed out setup for the INT to work well; it's also a pretty well-known fact that it does (see: wopadopa's KI posts awhile back regarding it on things like wyrms)

Feel free to post your 75% accuracy setup on Kirin, can't wait.

Did I say 75% acc? No. But it is a definite improvement over full ele skill gear.

With max int+ mab setup on kirin, if I remember 298 skill, +60INT, results are bad on kirin ( no number but lots of full resists).

I tried a few times with elem torque and af gloves ( dont have +1 yet), results are a lot better ( 319 skill, INT+~50). Still get a lot of resists, but a lot of them are only 1/2 or 1/4.

Then I used elem earring instead of morion+1, AF2 hat instead of demon+1, it seems to me to optimal, 332 skill and INT +~45. Most BLm say that the +5 skill slops ( don't recall name) arent worth it for kirin and wyrms, which I aggree with, but they are definatly not needed for mobs like fafnir ( don't resist much. That said, if I had the merciful cape, limbus feet, I'd use them on kirin and JoL (would have 350+ elem <3).

The BLMs generally admit that 330+ skill is very high skill and higher than that doesn't matter, and the best choice is to fill the remaining slots with INT ( or magic accuracy if you have morrigans, since accuracy is more effective at high skill). It is possible to have 380+elem skill by the way lol, but its overkill for most Nms..

As for Ugg pendant, I never use it on kirin, except for elemental seal aerogaIII, which I use combining sorcerer ring and pendant.

I somehow doubt that 320 skill + 55 INT beat 340 elemental on Kirin. Although it's possible on pussy NMs like fafnir.

The setup which I usually use on Kirin is this: (Few pieces missing that hopefully I'll get eventually)

Main: HQ Staff (Auster's)
Sub: Bugard Strap +1
Ammo: Phantom Talthum
Head: AF2 Petasos
Neck: Ele Torque
Ear1+2: Abyssal/Moldy
Body: Genie Weskit
Hands: AF1 Gloves
Rings: Snow/Omni (I usually leave /RDM and Sorc Ring at home, more for Raise purposes)
Back: Prism Cape
Waist: Penitent's Rope
Legs: Mahatma Slops
Feet: Yigit Crackows

Now, with food(usually Melon +1)... this puts me at 324 Ele Skill(5/8 merits) and 69+40 INT. I went literally an entire Kirin fight without landing a fully unresisted nukes. It was usually split between 1/8 and 1/4 resist (~80 and 170 iirc). Rarely I would get a 1/2 nuke.

I tried a full INT setup, which essentially just swaps in Mahatma Body, Demon Helm +1, and lolPhilomath Stole. AF1+1 Gloves, Torque would be nice to finish this up. However, I noticed no better results with 301 skill and 69+60 INT. I do admit I did not pay attention to the resists, just that they were resists.

Apparently you don't know how it works. The mab+8 activates when you drop below 50% MP AFTER you cast a spell. Basically if you have 800 mps, you can equip it past 400+AM2-1mp or 400+TierIV-1 mp. It's more than enough for pudding solo or in a party.

Please kiddo, dont try to educate me on neither BLM nor game mechanics. Why do you think i said "and assuming conserve mp acts exactly how you want it."? For funsies? If thats how you equip your uggapendant your gonna be standing with a neckpiece that does nothing 25% of the times you try. (I'll wait and see if you can figure out why 25% of the time). Not to forget that if you actively try to stay below 50% (+1 spell for the gambler) your gonna be missing out on one of blms greatest strenghts, the strongest ingame clear mind, by constantly cutting your rests short. In short terms, its a nice toy, but a blanket statement of X > Y is retarded. Not that i expected anything else from you.

Oh my i'm laughing at your 25% really. I stated before that uggalepih pendant is only good on puddings and more generally stuff that doesn't resist. The I explained that you can wear it full time with 50% mp + 286 MPs in this situation,
and that you will prefer it over Prudence torque. This way it won't activate possibly for the first spell you cast, 25% of the time. Basically it is useless randomly once every 4 puddings : once every 4 puddings you lose 25 damage you'd get from prudence torque but for the other 3 fights you get a 80 dmg boost each time : so on average after four pudding uggalepih will make you do 80+80+80+0-(25+25+25+25)=+140 dmg.

edit : your prince slops are leet.

Uggalepih owns prudence torque lol.

Here is your blanket statement of X > Y you retard.

And lol at your comment about my gear.

This is where i use my slops. Find something better to use. Or better yet, try to figure out why im using it.

But yes, compared to you i am leet. In every single way. Cause nomatter how you gear, i will always perform better then you.

At least I performed better than you here ; but totally out of topic. Now let the BLMs explain their resist issues.

Back on topic.

Has anyone considered resist tiers based on INT? I know there is info about crit tiers based on DEX, either 25 or 30% being reached over 118 DEX.

Would it be possible for INT to act the same way with resist? Or possibly MAB? Curious how one would test something like this.

Ohnoes, i died being pounded by Absolute virtue while eating a meteor to the face. Im assuming its my utsusemi cast being interrupted at the top. If memory serves, i also ate the comet before the meteor.

Mab doesnt affect accuracy. Int is believed to affect m.accuracy the same way dex affects accuracy, not tiered like crits. But a base value of damage is your int - mob int, so in a way i guess you could say there are tiers, but for damage, not resists.

Yea, I meant something more like dmg tiers, rather than MAB effect resist, was a poorly worded thought.

This resist problem still bugs me though.

You are bugged by resists on Kirin? (i havent followed that discussion all to well)

More by the fact that I went an ENTIRE Kirin fight without a single unresisted nuke, while BLMs with much lesser gear would be resisted with much less frequency.

Also looking ro see if anyone has more definitive tests on INT vs Ele for resist builds. Or if I shouldnt hold my breath and go do my own experiments from scratch.

Thats the random factor of the game playing you a prank. It simply wont statistically hold true in the long run. Im rather sure tests have been made with the conclusion that you need a really significant amount of int over skill for int to have a higher effect resist-wise. My memory wanna say 1 skill or roughly 4 int resists wise, dont quote me on that tho. You probably only need to search the right places to find the actual tests.

Thanks. I'm going to try and look up whatever tests Wopa did on his HNM runs.

It depends on what what you kill, what's your job etc. I did tests a while ago nuking wamoura prince VT as rdm with low skill(240). Basically it's like being 68 BLM vs a level 80 mob, 12 level difference. The result showed that Int didn't affect resists. After that I increased the base skill to 280 (=more or less 76 BLM, so 6 level difference) and Int did affect it noticably. I'm assuming you need to reduce the "level gap" caused by skill on kirin.

If you admit 7 skill/level then 324 skill puts you at level 82 BLM which puts Kirin 10 levels higher than you. You will probably need at least 3-4 more levels for Int to take effect (by analogy with wamoura) so like .. 346 skills. Enjoy.

I bet that the BLMs are tarutarus =p

Hmm, Sanoske can you update this post after you have manage to find/test some information out? I might try it out myself but I myself is a BLM and have at least did a full damage aero IV with like 320++ elemental skill ( can't remember it of my mind). I guess luck is a factor in it. But than once again.. i am a tarutaru =p
