"unofficial" talk of the legit ffxi windower mode.

People who want Thief-Last Blow kill need to kill themselves.

So people who are superstitious should kill them selves as well? What's wrong with a little superstition?

I for one really don't care for Thief Last blow kill, but if i have it and it's accessible, why not?

I'd rather not break a mirror than breaking one. Sue me.

Sage Sundi himself (believe it was him... definitely an SE rep) stated in a public interview that the THF last-blow kill had zero effect on drops. Will try to find the link.

I don't think you get what i said - i don't approve it, but fuck, why not be superstitious from time to time? If not, let people be. Whenever i do BCNM's i usually wait for .30 or .00 on the dot ingame time to open my chest, just cause i feel like it. Will it affect drops? Probably not, but it's something i do cause i like being superstitious from time to time...

Cmdrfly is superstitious too. He strips off all his armor and runs around the chest before he opens it.

because the developers themselves debunked the superstition, when asked about it, at the ffxi festival in 2006.

He said so in one of the interviews that FFXIcentric webpages make in conventions of the genre. I think it was KI that made a thread in which members had to input questions they wanted answered by the DEV Team. The winning questions were then taken to the interview.

I never said there was anything wrong with being superstitious. I have superstitions of my own, but when they're flat-out guaranteed disproven by facts (or in this case, developers) then there's precious little hope in following that belief.

I won't tell you to abort superstitions altogether, I never did. You can still be superstitious about a lot of things in this game, but when SE themselves say "no this rumour is a lie" then you gotta wonder about the people who don't believe them and continue with it.

Dude, weak. I trusted you!

Now that you mention it...I wouldn't mind really..

As said, it's been answered - by those who made the game - that a Thief merely needs to be in the same area as the monster killed. I don't believe that entirely, I'm pretty sure they have to be within range to normally get Experience Points. But they do not have to do anything outside of simply being in the party/alliance.

I'm siding with the theory that each person currently in the vicinity in the party has their own personal drop chance, and Treasure Hunter simply increases that chance. It just seems the simplest way it happens, given SE's comments on the matter.

I feel the same way. Seems like just adding more people to your party/alliance helps with some things.

Yeah, everyone does have their own drop chance. I'm saying that for your chance to count, you need to be in range to normally get EXP from the mob.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. At worst, it's just another superstition with the same end result, only far less inconvenient and silly. Besides, most of the time, the thief will be in range, probably fighting anyway.

You know I love to bring up old arguments. Using windower macros is cheating. Be my guest but don't be a hypocrite and bitch about people that use fleetools, POS hacks and claim bots. Once there's a legal windowed mode, you all have 0 reason to legitimately use windower and I hope all you linkshells that have come out with a strong stance that cheating is wrong(when your rivals do it), will have the balls to tell your own members not to cheat.

So you'll still hack guilt-free because you just don't care?

Just because I speed doesn't remove my right to bitch about murderers; thinking otherwise is retarded.

I just use stock Windower. Not Lite though, because Lite has no gamma control.

I also use it for screenshots, but I also have fraps around. So ditching Windower isn't a big deal for me.

I wouldn't really call it a superstition. It's an assumption. I mean, if you can't get exp standing anywhere in the zone away from your party, chances are that other things are factored along with it. Ofcourse, theres an easy way to see if drop rate is not affected by being too far away. Just "duo" and see if 2 crystals drop.

Meant more for your linkshell, since you never cared that they did.

Am I the only one who really just likes the screenshot abilities of the current windower more than anything else? I guess with an official windower I could swap to that and use fraps or something, but I just like having that ability in addition to being able to tab out and the built in screenshot function of the game sucks.
