"unofficial" talk of the legit ffxi windower mode.

I use windower only for the windowing function. While TParty and windower macros are nifty, I don't miss them when I'm playing on PS2. So I'll be swapping over to the official windower when it comes out.

I don't think even changing the ToS can help them.

There are exceptions to these laws, but they mostly seem to pertain to critical cases where the individual is in danger and the information is absolutely necessary.

I'm not sure if SE counts as a "public body", I wouldn't suspect so. But I know little in the grand domain of legal crap.

No, if they change to ToS, they can allow thier program to look for files that directly interact with thier copywrited software. Blizzard dos it perfectly fine.

I'm siding with the theory that each person currently in the vicinity in the party has their own personal drop chance, and Treasure Hunter simply increases that chance. It just seems the simplest way it happens, given SE's comments on the matter.

Wouldn't you be able to test this with gilfinder? It seems to me most logical that gilfinder and treasure hunter work in the same way. That is to say, the Treasure Hunter trait increases the baseline % of treasure dropping and Gilfinder increases the baseline % of the amount of gil dropped.

I could be totally wrong, don't feel like looking it up while waiting to get swapped in at Kirin... but last I heard, Gilfinder only works when solo, so any party-related tests are kinda impossible.

Balls.

Gilfinder is THF onry <.< Well, atleast to the extent that it only affects the person with gilfinder.

If the official windower does come out, I hope every single person using the unofficial one gets perma banned :)

Like I said earlier, that's not possible, because it would destroy so much of their playerbase it's not even funny.

Good, because it'll be the ones who are cheating at that point.
They have no problem banning thousands now, I'm sure they'll have no problem getting their point across after real windowed mode.

still one can hope the hypocrites get their due
Despite the hypocrisy of this statement, Chasym actually said something I agree with wholeheartedly. Rockin'.

No, SE doesn't have a problem with banning 1% or 2% of their playerbase... You know as well as I do that it's well more than 10,000, more like 50,000 people who use Windower. There's no 2007 figures, but for 2006, that's 10% of the playerbase. That's a pretty big pill to swallow, banning 10% or more of your playerbase, to say nothing of what would happen to the end-game community and the people quitting because their shell just vanished in a puff of smoke.

I don't give a damn if it's cheating or not, the point is how stupid of a business move that would be.

I don't see where the whole talk of hypocracy is coming from... For this to be hypocritical, people who use windower have to be against it.

plug ins= cheats. one system of 3 can use them. Unfair advantage. Everyone claims to hate cheats and cheaters. Official windower comes out, People still use old windower for plug ins. Hypocrisy ensues.

I don't see anyone who uses windower and planning to keep using it say that it doesn't give them something over other systems. That's why I don't see hypocrisy. I personally use windower for the extended macro space, and will continue to do so until SE realizes (or bans me for windower? lol) that switching out 12 pieces of gear per WS is rather annoying when you only have 6 lines per macro. I also like the enhanced graphics, cause really the game looks like shit. Just because ps2 can't handle optimal graphics in MMORPG, doesn't mean PC shouldn't get better drawing distance, etc.

I don't really care for other plugins, cause I don't find it that hard to hit your tp macro once, nor do I see the point of recast plug in when you have used the same spells/jas for 75 levels. Should be instinct by now.

One system of 3 can listen to music stored on its HD while playing, advantage in fighting boredom?
2 systems of 3 can acess thier computers while playing, Advantage?

When my windower starts warping me to NMs and claiming them for me, then you can ding me for hypocracy. Till then, i'll keep looking at my alliance MP and distance to monsters.

when the official windower comes, there will be no execuse for archbells. you mighta missed that point.
And i can listen to music just fine on pc with full screen up, control what songs i wanna hear by remote or keyboard.

and the other systems having access to the internet is completley different than plug ins to the game itself for features SE does not intend or condone

Distance is pretty useful. I could live without it, there are other ways of determining range from the mob.

TParty is useful, but little more than a miniscule time saver. Can easily be circumvented with in-game features that would add all of 1-2sec delay in skillchains.

Macro space, however, is absolutely invaluable. I hope SE has at least considered extending macro size. They give us more ways to store and put all this fancy new gear away, but when it comes to actually wearing it we're still shackled by the mere 6 lines for equip swaps.

I'll submit the suggestion to them anyways, I'm sure its been done a thousand times. This is done through POL right? Not POL's website?

Then those who use the G15 keyboard like me are also cheating? I can do everything windower macros can using it, with no 3rd party software. Also, SE gives them away as prizes.

What does ToS say? Probably not.

i'll keep looking at my alliance MP and distance to monsters.

This is though.

Alright so you're telling me that if they announce they're going to start enforcing windower, offer windowed mode as a regular version that the majority of people with 1 warning wouldn't move over the legit client before getting permabanned?
