You know, the whole comet-planet-death thing is really getting old. While all signs point to you being correct (I won't get into 'em), I really hope it's something more like a representation of the presence of the goddess herself, either before she went to sleep, or in the future after she wakes up (that's an assumption). And yes, future. Everyones thinking past, but it says that a lost story would be retold (paraphrase). To me, this almost sounds like it would be in the future. All of the changes to the landscape could simply be reconstruction.

Maybe they'll also open up that area in Sacrarium where there's an unusable staircase - .-

It seems from the trailer we travel back in time or something. The wall seperating Rolanberry Fields and Ballita Grounds something like that. Also the buildings in the Sau-something ot other were rebuilt.

Well, that's open to interpretation really. It's history becomes the present in a story about to be retold, so it could be the future (as the present progresses into this new expansion). Anyway, I hadn't remembered that quote from the trailer, so it's quite possible I'm wrong on that part.
 
Well if it is in fact a comet in the trailer it would make sense for the comet to have passed by at some point in time during the past, and when it came back around its appearance triggered remembrance of this past time or somehow brought back its memory so that we could access it.

Since most comets follow cycles, to me it makes sense that seeing it would cause people to remember old stories about it or trigger some old magic.
 
I agree, we don't need any new jobs. Maybe they could add some cool new armor, like AF from the past or some shit. Stuff thats actually useful for your job, that'd be nice. Maybe just make some fixes and add the new lands. It'd be tight to if when you go into the expansion are (say it is time warp) you could do like nation raid pvp. Like bastok could raid sandy and shit lol, thatd be tits. Like in L2 where you can do castle raids.

Regardless of what's NECESSARY, I'd expect SE to add new jobs just to appeal to the masses of people who seem to think that an expansion isn't worth buying without them. Remember the significant fraction of people that never bothered to buy CoP until it became obvious that the new zones offered sufficient xp areas that without them they'd never get a party? I do. Hell, some people STILL didn't bother picking it up.
