how the hell was the MILITARY supposed to stop that?! that CIA / FBI job to stop that, military had nothing to do with it.

What novolo is saying is if we came back home, the terrorist would no longer be preoccupied as much within Iraq, and would be able to focus more of their people/ resources on attacking America IN America again.
Which makes perfect sense, anyone who thinks they wont be accumulating more resources and people to attack us once we come home is kidding themselves.( im not saying we shouldn't come home, im just saying that's whats gonna happen whenever we do)
 
I can certainly see the intensity in the thread.
Lets not over do it or I will undo it.
 
The US Military does need to be pulled from Iraq. IF they want the ones responsible for the attack on the TT, they need Military in either Pakistan or Afghanistan. Right, the Canadian troops are in Afghanistan trying to put the pieces of that country back together again after the US invaded then jumped ship....

It seems Obama is on the right track imo. Beefing up the US Intelligence and Homeland security rather than the Military would have assisted in avoiding the attacks on the TT. IDK. I don't pretend to know too much about US politics, I think your politics are more messed up then our own.

Focus more on defensive structure than dumping funds into offensive structure.

we never jumped ship were still there....
 
We can't even being to pull our Troops out until we get our civilian contractors out. We can't get all of them out for at least a few years. We'll be lucky to have the troops out of the middle east by the end of his first term.

There wasn't a department of homeland security before the attacks, and with the "wall of silence" between the CIA/FBI (thanks to the clinton administration) the CIA and FBI couldn't even share information. Not exactly sure the reasoning behind that.

And the problem with Pakistan is that if we went in there we just might start another war.

But yeah our politics are pretty messed up right now, to much partisan BS, red tape and bureaucratic BS. I didn't vote for Obama but hes still my president, and I sure hope he can clean some of it up.

Yea, I generally don't think so. Especially not with NATO forces in the region. The only way Pakistan would get hit with anything nuclear is by rogue states or India. Not even Russia or China are belligerent enough to make retaliatory nuclear strikes.
 
i dunno, there are alot of itchy trigger fingers over there, Israel got fed up with that bull shit and launched an attack back, im pretty sure they would get pissed off if they saw a nuke come out of that region....

Pakistan wouldnt launch nukes tho, AS IS. that's why we have to tread so lightly when it come to pursuing terrorist into Pakistan, the governemnt in Pakistan want alqueda out but the people dont want us there. we don't wanna destabilize the area, ESPECIALLY an area with nukes.

A government with nukes destabilizing is never a good thing, because we don't know whos gonna end up in power, and in possession of the nukes.

I think most people would agree that we don't need another Iraq right now
