User Reputation now online

I added a user reputation feature to the board.
I am sure you guys will figure out how it works. There are several checks in there to prevent abuse.

Should be fun. ;)

Alright, some more details on how it works.
New users receive 10 points of base reputation.
The base amount a user can allocate is 1 point.
For every 365 days a user has been registered, they gain an additional point to their base amount.
For every 1,000 posts a user has, they gain an additional point to their base amount.
For every 100 points of positive reputation a user has, they gain an additional point to their base amount.
There is a daily limit on how much reputation one can give out, and there is a check in place that one user can not allocate all of his daily 'allowance' to one user.

Also, please review Rules of Conduct - few and simple - READ! if in doubt, as creating additional accounts to boost your own reputation will get you banned quickly. ;)

yeah, I only see a green dot too

And I think this system will become quite messed up

XD Allakhazam ftw.

This is what a lot of rep looks like.
You can hover over your current dot and it will give you some phrase that doesn't really mean a whole lot.

If the rep system ends up being a bad idea I will just remove it again.
I realize that some people will just repeatedly give someone else a bad rep to grief them. I can follow up on those things, as I can see how left whom what kind of rep.

Well, according to your post about what reputation everyone have, I should have three. But when I hover the mouse over people with 1 post it gives the same phrase as them.

Same with Rones, who should have 1 more then me, and all other old members :P

A reputation power of 3 means that everytime you *give* someone reputation, you give them 3 points (or take 3 away), instead of 1.
So the longer you have been here, the more you have posted, and the more reputation you have accumulated, the more you giving or taking reputation counts for or against the one you are doing it to.

All users started with 10 points when I fired the system up earlier tonight.

The one green dot doesn't mean one rep point. I am not sure how it scales, the screenshot above is me with 10,000 rep points. I think the graphic is more of a general indicator, not a precise one.

oh ^^ ok, then I understand :P

btw, I saw when you had that 10,000 reputation :P The text was "Reputation beyond reputation", or something like htat XD

Yeah I was just screwing around, I am going to bed now, will look into where I can change the phrases tomorrow, and whether there is a way to display rep numerically.

10,000 points would be hard to come by I guess ..., maybe ..., 7k unique visitors per month at QCDN, they would all have to give me rep a few times, lol.

www.OverGrow.com

They have the same program.

Except "Reputation" = Karma ;)

Overgrow the gov't!

i think it's a nice feature.

it will give those who have a fragile self-esteem another facet of ffxi life to worry about XD (not saying anyone here has a low self-esteem or what not!)

I told you, you can't split something in to 5 peices with only 2 lines no matter how long you try <.<;

All this will really rate is post frequency and longevity. Puts no bearing on the actual content of someone's post.
Not true. There are two factors that are independant from each other.

How much reputation can a user award?
Each user can award 1 reputation point (positive or negative) to another user using the little reputation icon that is usually located next to the 'online' indicator.
For every 365 days a user has been registered, they gain an additional point to their base amount.
For every 1,000 posts a user has, they gain an additional point to their base amount.
For every 100 points of positive reputation a user has, they gain an additional point to their base amount.

How much reputation does a user have?
The amount of reputation one user has is displayed as the little green dot (which will become a line at some point) in the users profile section of each post. As other users rate a user's post, his or her reputation amout goes up or down.

Can I get rated down if I accidently wipe my whole pt everytime I goto Ifrit's Cld?

will the little green dot thing ever go up? havent seen anyone with more than 1.
