WAR testing

Ooooh, ok. Guess I missed that.

Either way, I'm in. Pretty much not going /SAM to merit anymore, ever. lol. WAR/NIN with Fortitude and capped GA merits not only ensures survivability, but keeps damage at a steady rate. See you then.

You think you could suffer one more pt with me as Sam/War with the other Sam/Nin in the pt I want to see the difference between the two settups side by side. Or I can come Sam/Nin and he Sam/War, if there's concern my Onikiri will cause a rukkus.

Just realized this was never posted.
Ikari where are this week's results D:

when you are meriting with Fort axe, are you using Raging Rush or Steel Cyclone? I've noticed RR seems to still suck balls.

With Fortitude I switch them, which seems to offer the best results. When Berserk/Agg is up, I use Raging Rush, and when it's down I use Steel Cyclone. This keeps the numbers relatively even.

RR had some strange numbers in our last parse. Anywhere from 300-1600 (yes, not kidding. Twice in that night RR did 1500+ with Fortitude, but that's like 1% of the time.) Often times I'd hit with RR for 700~1100, and the commons/lows were 450(low) ~ 650(average).

To report though, having everyone /NIN seriously increased the stability of the party, although I still died to the SAME FREAKIN MOB. (This time though, the Shock Spikes proc'd both times I hit, not allowing me to put Utsu up. :|)

Jamal won the parse, Ikari came in second, I came a couple % behind Ikari, and our unmerited DRG in the party came in last, but still did considerably well. Was a fun time. All in all, for epeen's sake would I sub SAM in merit, and if I wanted to die. /NIN is how it has to be from now on, purely because I was able to live, even if I sacrificed a lot of damage. It's no big deal really, it was still fun and we were still waiting on mobs to pop.

I have been kinda holding off exping WAR for the most part to get the best setup for exping. I am a lvl 70 WAR. would I be better off doing the Woody/Maneater combo coming up, or going GA.

It looks to me, GA will be my best option. And to take it a step further, I am assuming a haste setup is still ideal for a WAR even though they are GAing it up? I read somewhere that now since the 2-handed update that the attk cap cant be met under standard merit conditions and some people are saying they are getting a better results from stacking attk.

I remember my Sam/nin pulling more hate than your sam/drg last week.

Have both, is my advice. Jamal will tell you the same thing. As far as the ATT cap goes, no, dunno where they got that from, nor do I know your source. Either way, coming from credible sources or not, a haste setup would in fact be ideal, even for /SAM. The reason for this, is because you really are not losing a ton of attack by doing so, given the options that can go in the respective slots. I mean, unless you're talking about Swift Belt vs Swordbelt +1 or something. Dusk Gloves have 5ATT on them, with an addition of Haste +3%, Walahra has 5% haste over... Adaman's +8 ATT, and Unicorn Boots, although I don't prefer them because of having conditional haste (while it is a reasonable condition), are a mere 2ATT shy of Amir Boots. The difference you see if you just stack ATT gear is this:
(adjusted to show the difference)

Head :+8ATT
Hands : +7ATT
Feet: +2ATT
Legs: (You should have Haidate glued there for TP at all times anyways 2h and 1h alike)
Waist (assuming you're using Swordbelt +1 or something, idk): +17ATT

So, you're getting an adjusted ATT of +32ATT over a possible +15% Haste. Throw Haidate on there and you have +20%. The source that says you're not going to hit the att cap on 2h weapons on normal merit-type mobs, is a bit off. Normal hits on Fortitude were for 140-200, with 200 being a crit-high. Then again, I don't have a Swift Belt, nor do I use Unicorn's, so I have about +13% Haste normally, and +23% with Hasso on. Works fine for me, but I aim for a swift later, since I really don't want Uni's.

Personally, I'd go with Haste, ACC (moderate, don't overdo it with 2h) and ATT, respectively. It's a pretty staple gearset:

Head: Walahra, duh
Neck: PCC, or Fort. Torque.
Ammo: Fire Bomblet or Core, your choice
Earrings: Brutal and Assault
Body: Haubergeon, Hauberk, Adaberk (+1 if you will)
Hands: Dusk
Rings: Rajas and either a Snipers (+1), Toreador's, or Thunder Ring
Back: Duh
Waist: Swift or w/e else you prefer
Legs: Haidate, Haidate, Haidate (+15ACC ffs)
Feet: Whatever you prefer

yada yada, throw in WS gear and that's your WAR. Honestly, what makes the WAR isn't the TP gear he chooses to wear, since it's all fairly common, but the WS gear. Hecatomb, Alk's, or other rare/HQ shit I could be brainfarting on is where it's at.

*Edit* I'm up for "Tests" anytime. Either NIN, or WAR, I'll go. It's fun, and we can just write it off as testing. 2 hours, 5-6 merits later, we're nice and stuffed on points to spend and we can walk away without being too tired or feeling mentally drained frome dealing with your average moron in a pickup merit party.

To add:
There's only two ways to guarantee dmg percentage increases. Haste+ and DA+. The thing about two-handed weapons that make them so able to be stellar is the DEX=ACC boost, which allows for less accuracy gear that can in turn be replaced by more attack.

I remember my Sam/nin pulling more hate than your sam/drg last week.

And yet...
I still did more damage/round... hrm....

Joking aside, High-jumps and using soborro to even out the hate helped. Once I switched back to my um... Shinsoku... I started gettgin my ass spoon-fed to me.

I didn't notice you were using soboro, although that might have had something to do with me getting my ass kicked by so many TP moves. That's probably why I died as well...

Nah, I think it was your tp feeding and the whm's suckage that killed me. Sounds like a conspiracy... you two were probably in cahoots. And yes, I just wanted to type out "cahoots."

Ikari where are this week's results D:

Sitting on my hard drive, totally forgotten, of course.

110 battles only because I forgot to fix my filters for the first few >_>
parse2-1.jpg

WAR/NIN + Jugger / Ridill
WAR/uh, NIN? + Fortitude Axe
DRG/SAM + Mezraq
Wyvern
SAM/NIN + Hagun

Mistra completely slacked off towards the end of the parse, hence his low numbers. He was at 25% or so. I was SAM/NIN, Jamal was tanking, so both of us had lower numbers than we would have otherwise.

Thanks Ikari. Just to add to this that the parse was done on Nyzul as usual, everyone ate meat besides me D:

Edit: Can we meet later today for Pchan Parse?
