Warhammer Online

If the guild decides to go Destruction I'll probably be a Squig Herder...though Magus looks kinda cool too.

Guildy is playing a Swordmaster in closed beta as I type this and he's telling me that PvP in WAR is leaps and bounds ahead of AoC's system.

I'd only play Order if in a future expansion they add in Wood Elves. I loved my Wood Elf army in Warhammer Fantasy Battles. Which when I started playing I coincidentally found out about the hero character Skaw the Falconer.

I was using Skaw for online gaming about 2 years before playing Warhammer. Was kinda funny. It was a part of a random generated name when I was creating my character for EverQuest. The original generated name was really long, so I trimmed it down to 4 characters, and stuck with it ever since.

I def wish the elves were wood elves over high elves. I played a wood elf character in Vanguard and felt slightly less fruity than I will as a high elf if I get to roll my Shadow Warrior.

Unfortunately, Destruction is winning our guild poll atm so Anaeran may be little and green this time around...

And my name "Anaeran" is also a variation of an EQ random generator name from way back in 1999. Good times.

Yeah, high elves are pretty damn fruity. Hell, most RPG Wood Elves are too. Warhammer somehow made them completely badass though. Maybe it's because they rode fucking dragons.

I fear the first RVR battlefield I see will be a wide, diverse range of Order careers facing off against a huge, undifferentiated block of Chaos Chosen. Most of whom will be played by disgruntled 12 year olds.

On a Skaw-esque note, I named the first Elf I ever played in D&D as a child Eltharion, some 4 years before that name got used by GW... 'Course theirs was Eltharion the Grim, and mine was Eltharion the Ill-Fated, but still...

I really hope there is some level of class balance, because otherwise we will be seeing Black Orcs and Chaos VS Rune priests and warrior priests. From what I hear, tanks dish out enough damage to render melee dps useless, and healers are overpowered.

Granted it's beta, so we'll see what happens.

is there any guild being set up for FFXI players (explayers in my case) from our server.

I know a couple of other ex players as well who are going to WAR when it comes out. We are rolling Destruction. Let me know.

According to Paul, the game can ship any time:

Speaking to VG247 at Develop in Brighton today, Mythic’s Paul Barnett confirmed the news hundreds of thousands of pre-orderers will be thrilled to hear: Warhammer Online is finished and ready to ship.

“The game’s finished,” said the developer. “It’s just being polished and cooked.

“We’re in a position now where every day we get to polish it it polishes a little nicer. At some point you say, ‘That’s polished enough now. See you later.’”

Barnett wouldn’t be drawn on a specific release date, but said he would be comfortable if the game shipped now.

“We just won Game of the Show from IGN, G4 and GameSpy from E3 and they all said the same thing: they’ve never seen an MMO prior to launch that’s as polished and slick and ready to go as our game is. Our game looks great, feels great, plays great.

“Is it in a shippable state? Yeah, we could ship it now.”

Paul also gave us the longest answer to a single question we’ve ever heard. Hopefully we’ll get time to transcribe it later.

Speaking to Eurogamer at Develop today, Mythic’s Paul Barnett gave a reasonably good reason for Warhammer Online’s persistent delays.

“When we launch these games, we can’t schedule for shit,” he said.

“We’re nearly there, God help us, the fifth time we schedule it it’s going to work. Lesson one: don’t trust your schedulers. Add more time.”

The MMO is heavily tipped to be releasing in September. Barnett told us earlier that the game is essential done and ready to go.

Supposedly it ships the 23rd of September and stores will have them available on the 24th. We shall see.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS REVEALED!!!

PC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

· A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
· At least 15 GB of hard drive space

Supported Video Cards

ATI Radeon(TM) series

· X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
· X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
· 2400, 2600, 2900,
· 3650, 3850, 3870
· 4850, 4870

NVIDIA GeForce series

· FX 5900, FX 5950

Intel(R) Extreme Graphics

· GMA X4500

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slowly. Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly. Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants will have low settings selected, but should run satisfactorily.

Please note that attempting to play the game using video hardware that isn’t listed above may result in reduced performance, graphical issues or cause the game to not run at all.

The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

Not bad at all.

Don't think I've ever seen a MMO move its release date forward. They must be pretty confident with what they've got.

Paul DID say that the game is done and are adding more polish to make the game look nice now.

I'm extremely glad that we can play this soon ^^

I made a post in this thread earlier and did not get any response. ( Mainly because right after the specs for the PC were released and that was the new topic of Convo)

My question is if any players from Quetzalcoatl are going to be playing Warhammer, and if they know whether or not they are doing order or Destruction.

Also if there are some guilds foriming for this game as well. I got my pre order on saturday and am pumped for the release of this amazing game.

Thanks in Advance!

Myself, Reya, Aragaeon, and probably Karandras will all be playing Order on whichever server lets me register as a Witch Hunter named Solomon Kane. >.>;

I'll be going Squig Herder I think.

I play for Blades of Wrath and we will be rolling whichever side is the underdog. If order is outnumbered/stacked against we will play that and vice versa.

Server is TBA obviously. Will post it here in case anyone wants to roll on that server when the lists are out.

THE DAY OF RECKONING IS UPON US!!!

September 18th, The day when WAR is EVERYWHERE! WAAAGH!

I am 99.99 repeating of course percent sure I am going to be destruction. So if anyone plans on rolling that et me know, and we can choose the same server. MMO's are always more fun when playing with familiar people.

Cannot wait to play this game.
