Wear Some Decent Fucking Gear You Retards!

Eh...Even if what you say is true, I still think a sword would be better off hand. Seveneyes isn't a terrible weapon but I still think that there are other swords with great stats too.

And in all honestly, how many people have a seveneyes anyway?

Generally, yeah, sword would be better. I'm just saying Seveneyes does have a usefulness for Blue Mage. HNMs and things with awful slashing resistances, like Skeletons and slimes, Seveneyes just shines.

Cause we all know he was preparing for the existence of seveneyes before the NM that dropped it even existed....

no, how about him keeping club capped because it was an alternative?

stop your bitching

First he was out by the time i exp'd with you. And second 5mins of equipping a club didnt hurt the pt. Your piss poor tanking did.

Guess its because I've known Naps for ages, I've never actually checked him lol.

I think I saw you in the party with Tidustom. While checking his bazaar I indeed wonder why he had like a huge MND buildup in equip.

Didn't you know that mnd gear for blm helps the whitemage cure potency when bio2 is casted.

While the latter may be true (I certainly have no idea of the specific circumstances so I can't comment on whether or not he actually sucked as a tank), the club-equipping probably *did* hurt the PT. And for all that wielding Seveneyes may be nice and justifiable, I don't believe a Shellbuster is a Seveneyes (correct me if I'm wrong).

A reputedly bad tank would hurt a lot more of course. But that's still no justification for turning an exp party into a skillup party for a lolsome weapon. If anything, a party with a bad tank would need damage dealers to dish out *more* damage and kill the mob off faster before the tank - or the people that the tank wasn't holding hate off of - took as much damage.

you're missing the key factor here that states 5mis of capping a skill. You say this as if he had the club equipped the whole time which is false.

5 mins wont hurt much, bad tanking was just thrown in there for the hell of it. though it's true, he had a reputation of being a suckass nin.

I wore my MNK body till 67... ; ;

This flame has huge potential going both ways.

i wore my mnk af pants till i got my melee hose. did i care if some stupid fuck in a game thought i was gimp or whatever for wearin them? not a fuckin chance lol. hell i didnt even get a sh till i hit 72-73.

At least 1 person knows how to read vilurum seems to think i was skilling up for a long period of time which is false. 5mins of battle is about 2 or 3 fights
if were lucky. So i fail to see how horrible it was equipping it.

Skill up parties are exactly that... skill up parties. PLD actually has the highest club skill in the game and access to some pretty decent clubs. Even so, I would NEVER bust out a club in an exp party "just to keep it capped."

Exp parties are where you bring your A-game; the best weapons, gear, and subjob you've got (for the type of party setup and the mob you're fighting). The rest of the party did not drop money on food/teleports/etc to come out there to help you skill up. They came out there to get the most exp/hr that your party can get. Save your backup weapons for a skill up party/sky farming/npc levelling.

Furthermore, with the exception of a few jobs that are designed to suck money (RNG and NIN most especially), it does not cost that much to keep any job decently equipped at any level. A player should have every equipment slot filled with at least NQ gear that makes sense for their job.

Can't afford 2x sniper rings? Hey, that's understandable. At the VERY least, you should have the NQ dexterity rings appropriate for your level.

Can't afford 8 elemental staves the first time you hit 51 BLM? Not a problem. At least get a dark staff and maybe one more for the spells you use the most.

Can't afford a full Kampf set at 29? Eisen costs a fraction of the price and still provides great bonuses to tanking stats.

Considering all the NQ gear that's floating around after years of crafters shooting for all levels of HQ gear, there should be no excuse for a player to have crap gear. If all you're going for is basic gear, it does NOT take that much farming to get it.

AF ain't bad gear anyways, most of it is very useful and better yet: FREE!

If I remember correctly the MNK pants especially were handy to have around, as was the body. When I mnk'ed it up I swapped gear constantly. If you can't afford the most outlandish of gear, make up for it and play the best you can.

Gear isn't everything in this game, for example, compared to WoW, there is a lot of cheap stuff you can do to act as a placeholder until the *ideal* gear comes into your hands, but skill will get you through the EXP stage of the game moreso than just having good gear.

Example:

I remember partying with this RDM in the labyrinth a long time ago, he had the most expensive gear you could imagine at the time, scorpion harness+1, royal cloak, every HQ staff imagineable. Then when it was time for him to act... he melee'ed. And nothing else. Our tank was suffering and the rdm just sat there and whiffed, or hit for 0 while his en-spell did a whopping 2-3 dmg.

This might sound a bit cocky, also... but I could take a WHM, and heal better than a large percentage of the people on this game (no names mentioned) using nothing more than 200k worth of gil to buy gear (scrolls cost not included), from 1-75. But it's true.

Edit:
Furthermore, I see a lot of familiar names here that used to whine about being broke and poor, using only "mediocre" gear for a lot of their game time. Those same names are stepping up all of a sudden demanding perfection and becoming the very elitists they bitched about. Just because you now have the gear you were jealous of doesn't necessarily make you an expert or an authority figure, you still might suck balls at this game, regardless. I don't know personally, as I've been MIA for a couple years. But I found that funny.

Just remember before you start throwing out comments about gear choices where you all started from too. Yes, a little research goes a long way though when you build your char from the ground up.

I have a lot of reading up to do myself since the class I chose to play this time has changed a lot as well, and there's been tons of new gear and items released since I played 2 years ago.

The only job allowed to switch between Weapons in party is Dark Knight, becayse Scythe and Gsword are almost as good.

I couldn't care less if someone's in Sipahi instead of Haubergeon or something, as long as they're TRYING to be good at their job. And I certainly don't expect Sniper Rings and such on every melee. Only thing that really bugs me is at level 50+ if there's some good, not-even-50k gear out there that the person somehow can't afford, or worse yet, has an expensive-but-useless item in it's place. That's really almost as bad as them having no item in that slot at all, really. =/

(Celvantes this isn't meant to be an attack on you. I agree with the overall idea of your post, especially the last paragraph. ^^)

Dex rings are not even close to acceptable, IMO. Venerer's ring would be an alright alternative, and it's even questable . Jaeger rings are free, though I suppose asking anyone who can't even be bothered to earn 300k for a Woodsman Ring wouldn't possibly put forth the effort to find a group for Dobsonflies. Shit, you could even just do the ENMs for Woodsman rings and earn exp at the same time.

Rounded up, it'd be 260,000g for a full set of NQ staves. Personally, I don't think that's asking too much, but I'd even be satisfied with having half of the staff set. Four of the NQ staves have dropped to 20k or below. There is no reason why I should be partying with red mages that cast silence with a dark staff. I flat out stopped leveling my white mage because the vast majority of parties I joined were filled with lazy fuckers. Here's an idea: if you can't even afford a stack of sole sushi, don't turn your bloody flag on.

Well said.

In response to what Cal is saying, yeah having all HQ stuff or the 1m+ stuff isn't ABSOLUTELY required to level. Just show some effort at least, and read up on how to play your class, or learn as you go. I don't care if you have 75 in every job, you don't know how to play that one job you DONT have to 75 yet. You're a noob at it, doesn't matter how many times you've observed other people play it, you have to play it yourself to get every subtle detail down solid, though it helps to have some priming by watching others play it.

Like a RDM who tries to silence using a dark staff (?) it's not necessarily lazy, they might not know a wind staff would increase the success of it. Subtle details like that take time for players to grasp, and not everyone is aware of the subtleties in this game (there's TONS out there). Sometimes they'll learn through experimentation, or from other players tipping them off about it. Just whatever you do try not to denounce them immediately for not doing everything 100% right in your eyes. Some jobs are easier to pick up and go with than others, and you'll do fine like that. While other jobs tend to do well if you just pick them up and play them, but might be taken to a whole different level of perfection if you know how to stretch your job's limits.

Now someone in their lv 70s sitting there and casting GA spells in an area that has a bunch of non aggro mobs surrounding the camp (like, boyahda tree, for example) is just plain retarded. If it isn't absolutely making your party suck, roll with it, and offer advice to help make the party better, cause that little tip will last them a long way if they take it the right way (don't be afraid to take advice either, of course =P)
