Wear Some Decent Fucking Gear You Retards!

Furthermore, I see a lot of familiar names here that used to whine about being broke and poor, using only "mediocre" gear for a lot of their game time. Those same names are stepping up all of a sudden demanding perfection and becoming the very elitists they bitched about. Just because you now have the gear you were jealous of doesn't necessarily make you an expert or an authority figure.

It does, however, progress your FFXI evolution one step closer to complete. :P

Look on the bright side, another couple months and you'll be quitting just to come back 3 months later too!

Still an ass on here and an angel in game .. i just play on a different playground these days :)

No more about that now, on topic: gimps and you! GOGOGO!

This comeing from some one that tryed to Ninja lot Thiefs hands in dynamis.

every blu/nin ive pt with and parsed have always remained very low on the DMG % but only blu ive parsed over 25% and was on top DD was /thf so idk why there is this talk of off hand cause from the pts ive been in blu/nin is just retarded.

Most (there are few exceptions) BLU/NIN I've pt'd with suck anyway, I agree with Matchuu. Sorry BLU's it just what I see. They just seem to spam vorpal blade and are basically dead weight. Conversely I've seen some amazing dmg come from BLU/THF's because at least for now it seems the ones who actually know the job choose a sub that actually shows its potential.

Your club weilding is selfish and disgusting. You were skilling up cause your lazy ass didn't want to get a skill up pt. And it does take longer then 5 mins to level a weapon so stop wasting 5 other ppls time to satisfy your selfish needs. No weapon with a "B" grade should even be in your hands period unless you've sunk a shit load of merits into it.

On the topic of gear, I'd take a gimp geared person who plays there job well over an excellently geared suck ass anyday. The person behind the job is more important to me then the armor he wears.

Thats the case of mages and tanks but when its a contact DD that requires no skill then its gear > skill

Perhaps but if you lack the timing to even land the tail end of a skillchain then what good is your Kraken Club, Ridill, etc? I still see level 75's melee who miss skillchains, or don't understand the concept of a SATA. They're out there. ><

The problem with this is, unless you know the person, most parties wont even give them a chance to show their skill.

Not for nothing, but that is very true. I had a Ninja in my party at one point not too long ago, who just did not understand the concept of Sata, Lvl 50 mind you. Later that day i saw this same person with top-notch Red mage (Stuff off Farfin) gear and a very respectable LS. It made me wonder how someone that probably had so much experinces in end game, couldn't grasp the idea of a simple, DD first voke, Ninja stands behind mob and gets sata on, concept. Humm oh well.

At least 1 person knows how to read vilurum seems to think i was skilling up for a long period of time which is false. 5mins of battle is about 2 or 3 fights
if were lucky. So i fail to see how horrible it was equipping it.

This is the point I was getting at. I don't really give a hoot whether it was 5 minutes or 5 seconds or 5 hours, and my argument is not based around how *long* you were doing it. I therefore much enjoyed the irony of your comment about knowing how to read, and criticizing me for an argument I wasn't even making.

You do not skillup crappy weapons in an exp party *period*. Simple, to the point, end of subject. In fact, if anyone can enlighten me as to why any job other than WAR, DRK, or RNG could seriously justify using multiple weapon types in exp, I'm all ears. Those are the only three that I can see doing it, and only because they each have two weapons that are *both* A- or better, *and* the weapon types have good WS options, *and* the job can equip weapons with good stats in those. For everything else, at least one of those three statements is false. (The closest we get is PLD and club, but club has crap for WS.)

That, and if you actually used it long enough to cap it, as Tomasello mentioned, it would've taken more than the 5 minutes you claim. So either you were reasonable enough to put it away before wasting the party's time to cap it (in which case you deserve some respect for that, though not quite as much respect if you did it because people were whining rather than that you simply decided you knew better). Or you're underexaggerating the length of time you used it, or you were ridiculously lucky with getting skillups (because after lowbie levels, not even A weapons tend to cap in a mere 5 minutes).

And your right as well. What a player wears, unless he's very new to the game, is probably indicative to the type of player he is. And apples to apples obviously I'd take the better geared player if both played the job reasonably well.

Don't remember where I heard this but it rings very true with me:

Good gear does not make a bad player good, it makes a good player better.

What's not true? That a melee with a Ridill who can't do a skillchain is better then a gimp geared player who can? I don't think so. And in your example its very possible a good mage can be a shitty melee and vice-versa. Doesn't mean I want to exp with him cause he can refresh like no one's business. If his task is to melee on a different job, so he's asked to SATA and he can't even line up properly all the Osodes and Ridills in the game aren't gonna help him. I'd rather take the gimp who can execute the task properly so I can receive Skillchain dmg, my black mage can MB and I get my exp faster.

I wore my MNK body till 67... ; ;

This is one thing i've never understood. Why is it that people think that mnk af body is inferior anymore? I'd say 95% of monk's in xp parties are using sushi. Granted before sushi was invented, the +5 acc from SH would have actually been noticible. Also if you are using meat exclusively then every extra piece of acc you can get from gear is needed. Seriously though, at levels 58+ do people think that +5 acc from SH is really going to make a difference ifyou are using sushi like everyone does? To me it just seems like a status symbol piece of gear for mnk. Also like to add:

Maybe i'm completely wrong, but all my experience says that if you are eating sushi, then 5acc loss is a non-issue. If any mnk's have any experience to say otherwise, and not just a placebo effect response, then let me know. Like i said, if you levelled the job before sushi was introduced or are using a strictly meat build then it doesn't apply. If i ever decide to level mnk again then i guess i'll be gimp and use AF body until i can equip Shura Togi. Sorry for the derail, just something i've always wondered about. :assassin:

Yep.

And Soujiro, I agree. Though as MNK, I worry a little more about my DoT rather than my OMG WS damage, 5 extra ACC just wasn't worth 1.3m gil (Price at that time) to me, especially when I had a fair amout of ACC gear in rings, weapon, tiphia sting, and food. I eventually cracked and bought the SH once it hit 1m even, but the AF body worked just fine until then.

Theres varying levels of skill required per job in this game. Point is, there's the lazy contact DD that does good just cause of their gear, then there's the amazing contact DD that does good cause they know what they're doing.

(I like to use examples, sorz):

My buddy was relating to me how he plays his WAR. Anyway. Whereas a WAR/NIN would just auto attack and WS everytime it's up, he has a creative technique here. He gets TP using a g.axe, then does a Break skill (lowering defense or whatever, I *think* g.axe has a defense break skill?), meditating to 100 TP again using /SAM sub and then blowing down a huge Steel Cyclone.

WAR itself is a simple class to play. But in the above example my friend takes the class furthur by using it's abilities to furthur evolve himself as a skilled player. Whereas a WAR who got a riddil and all kinds of great gear can do good just autoattacking and WS'ing every now and then. But this, of course, just represents the most basic of contact DD's.

DRK is one melee DD that requires a lot more skill. In addition to being a burst DD, you have the responsibility of Stunning potentially dangerous monster TP skills or spells, and DRKs get stun earlier than any other class, meaning you would be the FIRST to need to get used to Stunning as a role in a party. Also, making good use of the Absorb skills and keeping your MP up without refresh are all important techniques to master your class, all while dishing out heavy damage. You can't just get the most expensive gear possible, then go leave your DRK on auto attack while you go make a sammich. Even furthur, you could help your party loads by pulling, and pulling with status bolts or using bolts to increase party efficiency.

So yes, among some of the jobs where gear and skill are in a smaller gap, WAR MNK and maybe THF (this one's kind of out there, since the player really has to be able to coordinate with other players and understand hate transfer and management, but it requires 50% on the part of the people he/she parties with.)... the rest, really require more skill, and have a wider gap between the two.

I think, if you have a problem with the way someone is geared, kick em and problem solved. Your not FORCED to keep them in the party. Sure we may all bitch and complain and have some laughs about the "gimp" member, but if he is such a problem, get rid of him? I personally, do not mind a gimp member if he is a friendly person, trying to do his job and doing it well. If he doesnt have a Hauby, but has a Sipahi Body, big fucking deal who cares? If it bothers you so much get rid of him. However, this can go both ways, i feel "Hell, i worked hard to get the good shit i have, why cant this ____ do it too?" There can be many answers to that question, and frankly its none of our business, so if it bothers you, kick him and problem solved. Why waste your time flaming the person?
