What Anime/Manga are you Reading/Watching? Part the Second!

Update and some new anime.

Ore Twintail ni Narimasu - Ridiculously silly anime. I.. I just don't know where to start. This anime is essentially an action comedy because that's what I got from the first episode tons of comedy (some stuff was just so silly it was funny) and..well.. lots of over-the-top action sequences. I laughed a lot, but mostly due to the silliness that was in abundance. I think the bad guys cracked me up the most though. It was like watching really strange Mighty Morphin Power Rangers bad guys.

Donten ni Warau (aka. Laughing Under the Clouds) - Interesting fantasy-esque anime set in Japan during the Meiji Restoration around 1878. Swords have been outlawed (but of course the Police are still allowed to use them) and angers many former ronin who become labeled as crimals. The story follows 3 brothers, and there seems to be some backstory that is part of the plot so I wont be getting into that. It's an interesting show so far, and there's a fair amount of action, comedy and story going on to keep me interested.

A new anime I just got caught up on the first 2 episodes yesterday and it seems like it's got an interesting story that I'd like to follow: Grisaia no Kajitsu.

The main character is a male teen who transfers into a school that is kind of built like a prison. The dude's extremely fit/buff, very quiet, and almost always quite calm. Apparently he had a master that raised him for most of his life off in some mountains and so far what little bit they have showed about him it seems like he is some kind of hitman as well. There are only 5 other students at the school and they are all girls. Every student there each has their own circumstances and reasons for being there which I would imagine will be explored and explained as the series progresses. So far it's pretty interesting, the story kind of makes you want to know what's up with all of these girls's pasts as well as Yuji's (the guy). Obviously every character has their own quirks and they all seem to have quite different personalities, which definitely helps to keep things fresh and intriguing. This anime is based off of a Japanese Adult Visual Novel which has a port for the PSP and the PS Vita.

And that's that for now. Got my hands full with anime this season.

!!!!!!

And here I thought Sword Art Online II to be at a close, but NO! NO! NO! It's starting up a band new arc. Hellz yeah. I actually was not expecting this at all. I thought this episode 15 was going to be the absolute final episode. So, yeah. This was a pleasant surprise.

I'll update/edit this later, as there were a few more anime that I started watching and actually enjoyed (yet I can't recall the names w/o looking them up) and were also yet more fantasy anime.

This season is the season of fantasy. ....And that's kind of awesome.

Silly Ecks. You never have a recap episode that ends a season.

Yeah, sword art online really like their recap episodes. We just finished the arc, let's recap it!

I'm watching so many anime I have to watch some to check and see if it's one of the ones I'm watching or not on some of them. u.u;

I'm not quite used to having so many anime come out that I want to watch in the same season.

Yeah, there's some shows that I haven't even started, like psycho-pass season 2, just because I don't have enough time. I've stopped watching a few, because the show just wasn't interesting, but there's so many this season that I don't think I'm going to have enough time to watch them all until the next season starts when I will hopefully have more time, or less interesting shows.

Just from the new season, not counting carry overs like SAO, One Piece, etc; I'm watching:

Chaika the Coffin Princess season 2 - I enjoyed the first season, I love that all 3 of the main characters are actually useful. None of them are the annoying useless trope that is so common in this style of anime.

Grisaia no Kajitsu - I'm curious about this one, I started it because of Ecks' description, and I'm interested to see where it's going to go.

Log Horizon Season 2 - loved the first season, and I really enjoy this style of show. People getting pulled into a video game is a very entertaining concept to me

Mafan no Ou to Vanadis - a badass archer gets caught and basically recruited by an opposing warlord, who is a hot woman. She seems to have a thing for him.

Psycho-Pass Season 2 - It's a very interesting concept, and I'm definitely interested for more, when I have the time.

Shingeki no Bahamut - I like the art, but the main guy is kinda annoying. I might drop this one if it doesn't get more interesting.

Terra Formars - Interesting concept, it'd be very graphic if it didn't have the annoying censorship.

Trinity Seven - I read some of the manga, and I like the main character and his interactions with most of the other characters.

World Trigger - reminds me a bit of NGE on the overall concept. Aliens from another world, a secret organization of special people to fight them off. Although one of them runs into an alien who looks human and has the same power the organization does.

Also, I am saddened that Hunter x Hunter has finally stopped, but they finally caught up to the manga, since the author often has to stop for long periods for health reasons.

Okay that reminded me that I started watching Chaika the Coffin Princess, but I didn't know it was the second season. Hmm. Well now I guess I should watch the first season before I watch anymore of this.

Also The Seven Deadly Sins is called Nanatsu no Taizai in Japanese. It's a bit different style of animation than what I usually watch, almost a slight bit cartoony like One Piece and Fairy Tail, but not that exact style of those two. The main character is Meliodas, a holy knight and one of the seven sins. Looks like a little kid, but has to be in actuality quite old, I would imagine his real age to be in the 30's or 40's even though he looks like he a 14 year old. Anyway, he ends up helping a Princess who is fleeing from her home because holy knights have taken over her castle (and her father, a king, told her to run away though hidden passages). She decides she want's to find the 7 sins because they were the only one's who fought against the other holy knights and were all extremely powerful holy knights. Meliodas reveals his identity to her and decides to help her in her quest, and also because he wants to know what happened to the other sins because he, for some reason, isn't able to remember.

Also watching Trinity Seven. Could not for the life of me remember this one's name because its so similar to the name of another anime I'm watching. Anyway, it's pretty cool so far. Magic users in a high school, stuffs, fan service, nice action. A story that's still developing, but it is early on so it could be pretty good. Interesting cast of characters.

...Okay.. It seems the Akame Ga Kill! anime is differing from the manga by quite a bit in terms of how events play out.

I read 1 chapter of the manga about a month ago where the people who died in today's episode were killed. It may be because some of the torture Shura does is extremely graphic in nature even though they didn't show it even in the manga. I don't know. What I do know is that there are MANY characters that were in that chapter that I had never seen and they are completely absent in the anime. They somewhat managed to keep some of the scenes the same but with different characters. I gotta say the manga is by far way more brutal just based off the 1 chapter I did read, vs. how it was portrayed in the anime.

I'm kinda pissed they apparently are only following the manga loosely.

Both characters that died in today's episode had much more brutal ends in the manga. Plus added character to one of them because of what they did in the manga before they died.

Aldnoah Zero. Not quite as unpredictable as it was the first season, but I'm still enjoying it.

Well.. unfortunately all the Spring anime I was watching has, I think, come to a close.

Uuuuugh. There were sooo many good anime this season. u.u;

The upside is that some of them have another season coming, and some of them well... sadly don't.

Series that I enjoyed through to the end. = Good Ending. (in my opinion)

Cross Ange - This was an amazing story. Epic in its own way, with great character development and in general world building. It was really fun to watch.

Nanatsu no Taizai (The story continues but I don't think there is another season currently planned, manga has to go farther apparently)

Garo

Log Horizon (might continue later, not confirmed)

Durarara!!x2 (Second part to this season confirmed to continue with the Summer line up)

Junketsu no Maria

Tokyo Ghoul 2nd Season (odd ending but it was interesting and definitely got quite lively at the end half. I want more! sadly nothing confirmed other than an ongoing manga)

Akatsuki no Yona (this is one anime I really hope has more seasons as it ended with a build up that just quite frankly begs for a completion of this whole journey the characters are on)
^ Though to be honest, the way this anime ended leaves much to be desired. Manga is ongoing, but the anime quite frankly has a lot of story left to tell.

Absolute Duo (good anime, but one that should continue rather than end) :/

Err... I guess that's it. At least from the ones I was watching that have ended.

Still ongoing are:

World Trigger and DBZ Kai

As far as new anime (to me) that I've decide to check out. Recently began Witch Craft Works already on episode 9 of 12 and it's a fun little anime. Hoping the story picks up a bit more since there's not many episodes left. There's no real character developement outside of the main male and female protagonists. There are however, a ton of generic side characters that have their spotlights, however brief.

There are a few anime I need to check out from previous seasonal runs that I just didn't get into, but with there being a new season approaching I only have 1 new anime on my radar thanks to Nantasu no Taizai is the Legend of Arslan or something like that. Looks promising to say the least.

Alright, new season. I've checked out the first episodes of a bunch of anime and quite a few seem good enough to keep me watching.

Only going to add brief descriptions.

+
Plastic Memories - Sci-Fi anime were there are robots/androids with human emotions but they only have a short service life and have to be retrieved before they "break". Anime follows a new guy in the retrieval unit.

High School DxD BorN - Finally another season of High School DxD (#3). Oppai and BOOOOSTOOO to be heard (and seen, no really, first 5 seconds in you pretty much see all the female main character in their glory) to the joy of many.

Arslan Senki/The Heroic Legend of Arslan - From the FMA team comes this beautifully animated show. Hard to put my finger on it's story just yet but obviously it centers around the main character Arslan, a young prince. Plenty of action and story in this one from the looks of it.

Kekkai Sensen - Interesting start. Sci-Fi/Fantasy with plenty of action. My type of show. Interesting world.

Triage X - Echhi to the max. So far this has High School DxD beat in the competition of who can have the most and largest breasted women in an anime this season, yet oddly enough suffers from censorship were as DxD doesn't. Basically, "underground" organization that kills people that are vile human beings in their town. Lots of medical puns, analogies and whatnot. The women all seem to even dress in slutty nurse-type outfits as well. Nothing new storywise but even so it seem interesting enough to keep watching. Plus, boobs. Yep...

Gunslinger Stratos: The Animation - Interesting Sci-Fi, Futuristic battle anime. Seems to have a story that might be really indepth, but it's only the first episode so that's hard to say for sure. Certainty is in the fighting, lots of that gonna be happening from the looks of it.

Owari no Seraph - Interesting setting, mysteriously one day everyone on earth over the age of 13 dies by a virus. The young survivors are told that as long as they are under the age of 13 they will live. Told by who? Why the vampires that suddenly show up and usher all remaining survivors off to be used as livestock. I really enjoyed this take on a Vampire anime so far. Suffice to say there are humans that want to and are fighting back against the vampires. Definitely sticking to this one.

Okay, here's a few anime I watched that weren't bad or anything, I just don't know if I'm going to stick with them this season or not.

Kyoukai no Rinne - Animation styling reminds me a lot of Inuyasha. Seems to be about a teen boy who exorcises ghosts that linger in the human world, and a strange girl that goes to the same school as him who can see and hear ghosts or other ethereal beings. It comes off as an anime that will be quite quirky and have many non-serious moments. I'm not sure if it's trying to be a comedy or actually tell a story or both.. something about it bugs me but I can't put my finger on it.

Denpa Kyoushi - This show's about a NEET who's a genius but completely unmotivated to do anything, that is until his younger sister forces him to get a teaching job at his old high school. He end up helping a female student who is being bullied and finds himself actually liking the teaching job. This show isn't so bad actually. I might watch it on the side.

Ore Monogatari - Eh.... seems like a slice of life show where the main character is an odd ball physically huge male who is socially akward and completely dim witted (let's call him Ogre). He has a childhood friend who all the girls go ga-ga over, but he doesn't seem to be interested in any. Enter the 3rd character, a somewhat ditzy girl who is saved by Ogre and isn't afraid of him. Naturally watching this first episode you can tell the girl really likes Ogre, and Ogre really likes the girl, but Ogre thinks the girl likes his buddy and so want's to make sure that she hooks up with his buddy so that he doesn't make her cry like all the other girls that have confessed to him over the years. Turns out the buddy actually seems to like the girl too, to some degree, which makes Ogre even more determined to pair them up. Even though as a viewer, it's clearly evident that the girl is ga-ga over Ogre. And im sure that's what this entire anime is about. Personally, I can't stand characters like Ogre. So yeah.. I won't be watching this one again.

And I think that covers what I've watched so far.

We're actually watching almost the exact same anime this season. I haven't watched Plastic Memories, but I might start, I don't have any interest in Highshool DXD or Ore monogatari.

Kyoukai no Rinne is by the same author/illustrator as Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2(one of my all time favorites). I'm a big fan of her work, so I'm very interested in the anime. I read a bit of the manga a while back, there is a plot line, but it will have gags and jokes throughout it. The author tends to make very long-running series, so I expect this might be a long show. It's already been picked up for the summer season, so there's at least going to be 24-26 episodes.

I'm interested in the new Ghost in the Shell and the new Lupin III, but I haven't watched them yet.

Cool, I dunno if I'm gonna stick with Kyoukai no Rinne. A lot of the gags just seem forced to me from what I felt in the first episode. Forced yet expected.

Now.. I just happened to watch Punchline because I'm taking random stabs at new anime in hopes of finding stuff worth watching and holy hell.

Punchline um... yeah. If I had to guess I'd say it's by people who have done Gurren Lagan because the animation style is very similar, though more rounded than jaggedly straight lines, if that makes sense. It's definitely a comedy and very whacky. I didn't know what I was getting into at first but the action actually was quite fluid and the zany antics had me chuckling and going "wtf" followed by a laugh. I will probably keep watching this one because it highly amuses me with the silliness. Just..... just watch it and you should understand. I can't really say much about the story/plot because that would ruin some of the hilarity. Basically it's off the wall, and don't expect things to need to make a lot of sense because they sure don't, yet. It's the humor that kept me watching.

Also watched Etotama today. Catgirl spirit wants to become a part of the Zodiac, in which all other zodiac animals are also spirit girl-hybrids of their respectable zodiac animal. Insert random male character with an IDGAF attitude towards all the oddities that are starting to happen with these spirit girls. The show has a part where the spirit girls fight in fully 3D rendering as chibis, and um.. the animation was actually pretty good. Pretty sure this will be a big part of the show because it's even a part of the OP. There's a fair bit... okay okay.. there is a lot of comedy/silliness in this anime and it doesn't even take itself seriously as the male character chronically points out flaws in the story as it's happening, lol.. so yeah. This one seems like another silly anime that might be worth watching.

Considering the vibe from most of the other's I'll be watching is fairly serious or action oriented, I don't mind some light-hearted or zany antics to mix it up a bit. Plus I like funny anime, they're great to watch while you're drinking too. (though I'm not drinking this morning)

Oh, I'm also watching Shokugeki no Soma - it's a cooking anime, the main character is a great cook and gets enrolled in an elite academy by his dad. I'm curious where they're going to go with it, but I love the reactions to people eating his food, it seems to be literally orgasmic. Reminds me of Yaketate!! Japan.

Ah.. cooking anime.. that's different... Not my thing, but if you like it cool. lol

I just watched another of the new anime from this season, I missed the first episode last week but caught up with both first and second episodes.

It's called 'Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka?' Yep... that's one long ass title, officially translates to: 'Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? -FAMILIA MYTH-' (the Familia Myth part I guess is a sub title, but it's underneath the main Japanese Title in plain English so.. I dunno what that denotes)

Yes... yes that is it's name. It's a fantasy anime, where gods have chosen to live among humans but cannot use their godly powers while in the human world, and can grant normal humans the ability to become an Adventurer if that human accepts to join their 'Familia'. Adventurers are just what you'd imagine, if rpgs were real life. They go to dungeons to kills monsters and level up, which apparently their god/goddess essentially tallies at the end of the day. They literally are like a video game character as the Adventurers have stats and skills that they learn, apparently at random, as they level up. Yet this isn't set in some kind of mmo-world like .hack or SAO, but a straight up full fantasy world that just works this way.

So far I have to say the animation is fantastic and there is plenty of action and the over all theme that I've seen in the 2 episodes so far seem to tell a potentially interesting story. Definitely a shonen anime, but I like those so it's all good. Really looking forward to this one.

Added:

Also, I'm curious as to why you aren't interested in the High School DxD series. To me it just seems to keep getting better and better as the characters get more and more story behind them and develope. Sure, it's basically an Ecchi/combat anime, but now there are 3 seasons of the show and it's story just keeps going on and in my opinion, getting better. Not that I thought it was bad at the beginning or anything, quite the opposite, but even so I really suggest this anime series if you at all like shonen/harem type anime with fantasy aspects and aren't afraid of nudity in your anime. For what it is, the stories for each season have been rather good, and after watching episode 2 today I really am looking forward to what else this story has to in store, as already 2 episodes in a lot of interesting new things have happened.

It was just waaaaaay too ecchi for me. I don't mind the shonen/harem theme, or being ecchi, but when it's a major component of the show, it starts to get annoying. I watched the first season, I just didn't have any desire to keep watching when the second one came out.

Yaaaaay, the second season in the Grisaia anime has started and it's called 'Grisaia no Rakuen'. This one seems to be all about Yuuji this time around, at least for now. Starting pretty much at the beginning when he was first introduced to his Master as a kid and the reasons behind that meeting. It's gonna be interesting, because I like his character.

So the first season was about the girls, the second about Yuuji, and of course I'm sure there is an over-arching story as well.

The Summer season is beginning!

I was really surprised by how many series I was watching in the spring season did not run the standard 12/13 episode season, but anyways, here's what I'm interested in for this season:

Gangsta.
God Eater - I've been looking forward to this a while, I couldn't find more than the first few chapters of the manga
Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri
Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosei no Kyoukan - this reminds me of the great Chrome Shelled Regios
Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace
Overlord - Another "people locked in a video game" anime, but with an interesting side, the main character tries to take over the video game world
Rokka no Yuusha
Charlotte
Aoharu x Kikanjuu

I feel like I must have missed something with Grisia. Gonna have to check because I think I missed the last 2 episodes. Lot of stuff been going on in my life and I didnt keep up with anime for about 2 weeks.

As far as new anime goes for this new season...

FUCK YEAH!

Dragon Ball Super - after a damn long time finally we get new Dragon Ball, and from what I can tell the little blips of epilogue-ish episodes from DBZ after the Buu fight have been retconned. It doesn't appear that Uub exists in the new series, but we'll see. Currently the new series actually takes place before Battle of Gods, because so far Videl and Gohan aren't married yet and she isn't pregnant with.. who presumably would be Pan. Though considering they retconned the end of DBZ to fit the BoG theme, Pan may not be Gohan and Videl's offspring. Only time will tell because FUCK YES more DB......S. Words cannot describe my excitement. I just hope that this series ends up being a fraction as good as the global fan hype for it is around the world.

Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai - Judging from the animation style, I would say this is from the same folk that brought us Kill la Kill, also it's fucking hilarously absurd like Kill la Kill. I am glad I watched the first episode and I look forward to the rest. If you are a pervert in any way, you will love this anime.

Durararax2!! Ten - Literally picks up right were the last season left off. Loving it. And if you've enjoyed the show so far, you should stick around.

That's actually all I've watched so far. But I'm about to check out a few other new anime which have thumbnails that look like I might enjoy them, for example: Rokka no Yuusha. I have no idea what it's about but the thumbnail I see shows a sexy looking bunny-girl and some dudes dressed in fantasy-esque attire. So.. yeah, gonna check that one out.

I'm glad World Trigger is still ongoing, gonna continue watching that as well as Kyoukai no Rinne. Same with Arslan Senki, good ass anime.

Anime from last season I can't wait to see more of or hope they have more seasons:

bleh, I forgot it's JP name and cant find it but. It roughly translated to "Is it okay to date girls in a dungeon? Familia Myth"

That anime was freaking amazing and I want more of Bell-kun's adventures.

Kekkai Sensen - Not sure what's prolonging this anime. They have 1-2 more episodes before it actually finishes but they've been delayed and I don't know the reason why because I haven't bothered to research it. I just hope they finish this anime because it's been a lot of fun to watch.

I need to finish Etotama as well, I'm like 1-2 episodes off and then they have a ton of specials that aired as well. I didn't think much of this anime when I started to watch it, but it's grown on me and I need to finish it.

There is more.. a lot of good series I did finish.

Yeah, I loved Kekkai sensen, it has a very FLCL feel to me with some of the anime style and the humor and the cuts. I looked it up, and apparently it's not from the same studio, but I still can't help feeling that there's a relation there.
