You're a WHM. You're pretty much going to have to do skill-up parties at some point. Not many jobs can cap all their weapons solo - maybe only RDM and BST.

I capped my staff solo as blm, 150-cap.

I would suggest whm/bst for mild skillups by charming ep might work well as i did with rdm/bst not sure how whm fare against ep tho >.>'

NINs can cap their weapons in parties, Einstein. And yeah, solo. No one questions that. In terms of jobs that never need healers or don't have to rely on shadows to cap their weapons, RDM and BST are probably the only ones. They can cap all their weapons alone at 75. Perhaps DRG/WHM. Or people subbing BST - but for that to work your BST has to be leveled as high as your main. A level 75 RDM with BST leveled to 37 won't be able to charm anything a level 75 BST can, just what a level 37 BST could. A level 75 RDM with BST leveled to 75 is another matter altogether.

Soloing and duoing skillups is largely the only option a mage has. When skillup parties take you, the support job, into their party, it's not so that you can skillup your weapons. It's because they want their hastes and cures.

Unless I have a NIN tanking the skillup party, the only Haste I'm casting goes on myself. I'll throw out cures as needed to keep it going, but if I'm Hasting I'm not getting weapon skillups. I've had a few melees complain about it, but I brushed them off.

I'm looking forward to trying WHM/BST for skillups sometime. My Staff skill is absolutely pathetic, although it's hard to get excited about it when I have Hexa.

Admittedly, I'd not even bother with staff unless you plan on commonly being WHM/BST or WHM/THF...'cause really, using it over Club in any other case is just silly.

I personally capped both Club and Staff off of Steelshells (the L76+ ones, used the EMs/DCs as pets) on WHM/BST.

And seriously, RDMs needto stop making jabs at WHM when it comes to melee...
