Who's Getting Playstation® 3 Friday? 11/17 (No Wii Discussion please)

People out there will buy PS3 games before they even have a PS3, as it is in many cases a must own system, i'm sure of it.
Why, so they can stare at the box? Buying a game for a system you're not likely to own for months makes no sense at all. It's not like the games will go flying off the shelves with as few consoles as are being sold.

No, shortages reveal how fucked up Sony's release schedule has been.
Yeah, crippling shortages like the PS3 release only create an artificial "sold out" status; it's nothing to brag about when you don't make enough.

Well it's gonna happen cause people know what they will own, and when they do get their PS3 it would be nice to have a line up of games waiting for it at home already. The only thing that will stop them from owning a PS3 is death.

If you're livning pay check to pay check, then you'd be a fool to buy such a thing.

Yes, but there's no reason they wouldn't be able to buy the games when they finally pickup their PS3, there's no shortage of the games. It'd actually be smarter to wait to buy the games, since you could use the money for something else that you could use now, or just save it with some interest.

actually shortages kinda make some want it more.. the whole "OMG THERE ARE SO FEW I MUST BE ONE OF THE FEW WITH THE FIRST TO BE POPULAR!" that kinda thing. It's proven to work before. It seems to be working now. This seems more of a "increasing demand" kinda thing. What we can't have the more we want, at least with some people.

Yeah, that's what all of the hype is for, rl-peen and bragging rights that you actually have it. When people are paying 3x or more for the console, it's not because it's actually worth it, they just want to brag. It's increasing demand to the idiots who actually care about that kind of thing.

That's true.

But when you have people camping for days and they get no system, you can garuntee they will bring home atleast 1 peice of Sony lol.

Well a lot of things that aren't actually worth it people will get because of that.. though what makes it worth it is all opinion in itself. One man's trash is another man's treasure of sorts. So it might not be worth it TO YOU but to the other people it is. Who cares.. PS3's gonna be sold out, when the next shipment comes in that too will probably be sold out shortly as well (unless they sent a HUGE amount of units next shipment). Seems things are gonna be ok for Sony this time around too.. even if a company doesn't wish to make the game on blue ray they can use HD DVD and such games with it too.

There was a fight outside a Best Buy near me in the line D:.

MINE!!!!!!!

Me and Negorissimo got the first 2 sold in Plaza Las Americas in Puerto Rico ^^

What ticks me off is people that hog the spots in line just so they can turn around and sell it again on ebay. Its all about that dollar these days. People actually look at these new systems as money rather than a regular game console. People like them end up hogging up the all the aviable consoles just for some quick cash, meanwhile screwing people like myself and others who actually want one just to keep for personal use.

Now I do have the patience to wait for the next shipment so this isn't some jealous rant I'm doing. It really is no big deal to me. I just find the situation messed up. And who actually buys these systems for 1k-9k? People just don't know what to do with their money.

I bought SSX and Tekken Tag Tournament a few days before the Playstation 2 came out. Got my system day one, went home and played. What's so stupid about that?

Things you may need to know.

This was reported by IGN: Gamers who own older HD sets that feature only 480i, 480p, and 1080i resolution input capabilities will have to settle for the display quality being downsized as the game boots in its 480p mode rather than upscaling the image from its more desirable 720p mode to the TV's 1080i. IGN tested this development on older HDTV sets with games designed for 720p but not 1080i -- Resistance: Fall of Man, NHL 2K7, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, and Need for Speed Carbon. Sure enough, the system downshifted all four titles to 480p rather than moving up to 1080i. This issue came up with either a digital HD video connection (using an HDMI cord) and an analog HD video connection (using component cables.) ... It is not known yet if this is purely a software issue or a deeper technical problem and whether or not this lack of upscaling might be resolved on launch PS3 systems in future updates of the hardware via downloadable firmware patches.

Additionally, for those who wonder why its $600:

Lets Say we start the PS3 at $399 with XBOX 360 Specs

Add 40 GBs of Hard Drive (equivalent to adding $200 on to xbox 360 price

because 20 GB 360 hard drives cost $100 a piece)

Add Built In WiFi (equivalent to adding $100 on to Xbox 360 Price)

Add Extra USB Ports and Card Reader Ports (add about $30 onto 360 Price)

Add Blu Ray Player (about an $800 upgrade but we will place it at $200 because

thats what microsoft is charging for their HD-DVD Add-on.)

Add HDMI Port (add about $100 to 360 Price)

Add Online Service for 1 year (around $59.99)

Subtract Headset (shipped with 360) equals maybe $30

Subtract Remote (shipped with 360) equaly maybe $20

I dont even have to mention the superior hardware and games of PS3

This breakdown runs about $1,000 to equip a current Xbox 360 with PS3 launch functionality. Therefore, you can see just how much of a better deal the PS3 is. It's still expensive, but you are getting a GREAT deal.

Edit: (by David Han), the PS3 comes with a Remote and a Blu-Ray movie.

Honestly... if you can just shell out 600 bucks, it's more than worth it with all its features. It's a second PC to surf the web with. It's a blue ray Dvd player and it has everything that any of the other systems have. Considering I'll probably be 8 years at least before something better comes along, it's the way to go.

insanly good system.......................... after they fix the bugs.

day 1 ps3 = kaboom

No, it's a tilt sensor, no where near similar to the technology in the Wiimote.

You forgot the whole "Only one good launch title" too. And thats assuming R:FoM plays as good as it looks. Seeing as how it's a console FPS, that's a shot in the dark.
