Why did you pick your name? And wth does it mean?

two parter...

Psylent from my SOCOMII name... people had names like pyschoblahblah and silentblahblah... so i topped um both and made the handle Psylent and only used silent weapons on the game. I made it my name on my first server, but when I quit I figured it'ld been 3 years and the name was probablly a common handle...

So I created my second part, Cuda. If anyone knows what the shocker is (2 in the cooter 1 in the pooter), a group of friends at college came up with the cuda. Its the same as the shocker, but with the thumb.

put the two together and Psylentcuda

elph and i always pronounced it with a long I. not short.
It's cool. When I was on teamspeak chatting with Reverence people they all called me Stine like R. L. Stine. Hornless gave me the nickname Stine because she felt Christine was too long.

My name is Nicolette, but im usually orchid or some variant in games. Tried to plug in Orchid on FFXI, got refused as in use so just went with my name rather than come up with XorchidX or some other name with placeholders that id grow to hate. Ive NEVER seen a character, mule, or otherwise in the game with the name "Orchid" though... stupid SE.

Goddess Athena + alphabet soup = Ithenas

...... yea i don't know how it worked out either but that's the jest of it XD

When I was making a character for PSO back in the day, I was at my friend's house. I was trying to think of a name and couldn't think of anything good, so I start thumbing through books to get an idea.
The first thing I pick up happens to be a computer manual, or something.
I open it up and find myself on page 109, which was shown in the roman numerals 'CIX' underneath, which I used as my PSO and FFXI character's name.

took it from my favourite anime RahXephon.

got a nice screeny stood next to a guy called Rah a while back :)

Khajit: it was a random name that sounded nice after going through about 10 million random names and taking note of the good ones. I was originally suppossed to be a mithra since im loved by all cats no matter how evil they are to others. I could probably go up to WWII from peanuts and have it purring in seconds>.> A catgirl in an rpg setting made it obvious I was gonna have to deal with constant sexual harrasment and I had at least heard the warning of pants not existing for mithra so when i saw there was a hume model that looked alot like me iended up how I am today. ironically it turned out later that khajit was the name of a cat race in morromind. I figure this out after a few week of constant /tells saying "morromind?", "I thought you'd be a Mithra" ect without any explanation as to what the hyell they were talking about. The word morrowmind still gets me annoyed to this day.

Azamaria my whm mule is named after azamaria hendric from crno crusade. She was so adorable and ended up my favorite character. She can sing too which is why once I get around to it she's gonna be a bard and if you understand the anime bard/whm is perfect for the name. Ofr rp purposes that ive never needed to happen she is Khajit's sister and Khajit will sata de anyone that lays a hand on her in an improper manner>.> I'm also planning to use her to get myself better standing in an hnm ls. Since thf arent exactly allowed to even attack the monster until its almost dead I figured level a mule up to 75 and dc myself once the monster is low so my thf can go in and kill off the last little 1%. Generally speaking theres no way I would watch someone attack something I wanna fight for over an hour being bored out of my skull if theres an alternative.

Orihime: I love bleach ok? She is rdm because thats the job class that seems to suit her most. Shes'salso incredibly silly and lighthearted which is something i like since i'm not exactly serious 90% of the time.

hedetsugu: When my internet at home wasnt working i got my friend addicted to crack...er...FFXI by letting him make a charater and play on it until my internet was back and his copy of the game FINALLY arrived. He is named after hedgetsugu the heartless an Oni shaman from the magic the gather novel for the kawigama block. (notice my freind misspelled the name by accident)

The other mule is just some random name no meaning to it becasue i couldnt think up a good name at the time and i really needed a new mule

Alyada came from my best friend. I was talking to her one night over coffee and she said she always wanted to name her future child Alyada. It kinda stuck, plus it's a pretty name for a Mithra. Better than Dazi Nosuk.

My other mule is named Joei, which stemmed from my favorite video game Suikoden II. The characters real name is Jowy, but due to bad translation it was sometimes mispelled as Joei. I nabbed that when Jowy was taken. My other mule, Codie, was just going with the theme of Joei, ending in an -ei. I've always loved that name for girls too.

If you really, really want to know mine, I don't mind sharing, just send me a tell in game... >.<

You'll enjoy the story behind it.

Just not on a public forum

Osiris is the Egyptian god of the underworld.. and to them.. "God of Gods" i use Osyris in all my online games.. basically its for the short name "Osy" and in ffxi i was allready planning to be DRK before game was released.. God of underworld... DarkKnight.. it kinda worked perfect.. i love my name lol

:) Just my middle name. Proud of who I am irl ^_^ so I thought I'd take that into consideration when creating my character.

Wow i made this thread near midnight Central Time last night and it went to page 10! wow i haven't read all of these but this is pretty cool stuff thanks

Ok now for my name

It is Arabic and i mispelled it when i was making my char originally Khidur which means the name green(like of purity and vitality) or intelligence, its sorta hard to translate some words from Arabic to english.

Oh and right about here i start to go indepth about his history if you ABSOLUTELY HATE RELIGION OR SPECIFICALLY ISLAM DON'T READ PAST HERE!!!

Khidur is a real person that existed a long time ago he is a high angel in my religion. He and I relate very closely I believe i made his name so that I would never forget the blessings that I have had in my life and remember my Lord.

In the Qu'ran, Khidur is the guide of Moses back to Egypt so he can save his people. Moses beckons Allah(This is Arabic for God, it is commonly used by muslims because the english term is in a nutshell whored out and doesn't quite fit the description). Anyways...

Allah sends Khidur to Moses and Khidur says to Moses that he will do things during the journey and asks him not to question his actions. Moses says he will respect this wish even if he didn't ask him. Khidur said this anyway for the moral man would question what he would do, though Khidur never told Moses this yet.

Khidur is like I said a high ranking angel of Allah, he knows some of the knowledge Allah knows not all of course. We believe that knowing all the knowledge is too much for all but He. Allah has trusted him to do some tasks while he guides Moses.

Ok back to the story

Moses and Khidur start their journey and reach a town, here Khidur scuttles a ship for no known reason. Moses asks Khidur why he did this but like mentioned above Khidur reminded Moses of his promise, and they journey outward again.

Moses and Khidur head into a poor town and they having inadequate funds ask around for a place to sleep for the nite. They are refused food and shelter by all and they decide to leave. On their way out Khidur knocks down a wall where ten homeless children for once again no reason. Moses once again wants an answer but Khidur gives him the same response and Moses apologizes.

Now being one thirds away from Egypt Moses and Khidur head to a small house and there Khidur kills a teenager about 16-17. Moses is now like any normal person outraged at Khidur's actions so finally he tells Moses his reasons.

He scuttled the ship because it was being used in an unjust war and it had to be destroyed to save the innocent.

He knocked down the wall of the children's abode because there before their father had died, he left his huge money of inheritance there for the children, the children unaware of this and not being strong enough to move it muchless destroy it would have died slowly if not for Khidur's help.

The last is the most controversial of all he killed the child because he was horrible to his parents and did disrespectful things, his parents tried to raise him out of this but it got out of their control unfortunately and he became a menace to the town, as a result Khidur snuffed him out.

Khidur says this as a lesson to Moses as to that people do things that may be blessings in disguise that may seem to hurt but ultimately benefit those who are in need.

The following said I can attempt to answer the controversial sides to this but I must stress that the details are irrevant to the lesson of the journey.

I am like Khidur because I do things for no apparent reason but they grant benefit to those who need it.

Its hard to explain but this small story explains some of it.

RELIGION ENDS HERE

I looked up the Khidir and saw that it was actually a true name of Arabic and it means something different and more suitable to me.

Guide or leader

Hope you enjoyed the story

Diablo II monster. Also my friend's Counter-Strike Nick was Tyrael and I went with Izual and my other friend went with the other Angel.
Izual (Animal)

From the Crystal Arch at the very heart of the High Heavens to the arcane Hellforge of the Underworld, the warriors of the eternal realms pursue victory in their timeless conflict. The legendary deeds of the heroes of the realms beyond elicit both veneration and insight.

The greatest of these heroes was Izual, lieutenant to the Archangel Tyrael and bearer of the Angelic Runeblade Azurewrath. He once led a fierce attack upon the Hellforge as the creation of the dark demonblade Shadowfang was nearing completion. During the battle that ensued, Izual was overcome by legions of Chaos and was lost to the Darkness.

Izual now remains as a dark, tortured soul who is trapped within the forsaken realms of Hell. Despite his valor and strength, his form was twisted by the perverse powers of the Prime Evils. They forced him to betray his own kind and give up Heaven’s most guarded secrets. Izual became a corrupt shadow of his former self; a fallen angel trusted neither by Heaven nor Hell.

For his transgressions, the spirit of Izual was bound within the form of a terrible creature that was summoned from the Abyss. His maddened spirit has resided within that tortured husk for many ages now. Although he now certainly no longer carries the weapon Azurewrath, Izual still possesses great strength and powers within his new form. He is a threat to any who would oppose him, and in his current state, it is certain that he will see you as opposition.

Eternal love.

This is kind of sad because I'm quiting.
Passions was made to be in love with pan. And I needed a name to reflect that. Funny how in the end they spent so much damn time together ;)
