Takes one to know one, I guess.
Wait, I shouln't have answered that, LOL![]()

Except I'm not a fanboyI'm not going around saying PS3 is the best system and the others suck or that the 360 is the best or that Wii's the best
I recognize each has fun stuff to them and I realize each has some problems. There's a reason I haven't bought one yet and haven't settled on one (and it's not because I don't have the money, because I do have enough now XD).
The fanboy comment was referring to Anttaru and I was joking about myself identifying him as a fanboy, thus... nevermind, lol. You'd better get it by now.
Bitch slapped? HI ANTTARU, re-read what I said, I didn't say it's uncompressed, I said it isn't as compressed as it could potentially be.
You know about as well as I do how compressed Resistance is (ie neither of us has a remote fucking clue, when you get right down to it),
but I'd bet real money that Resistance could be compressed into a smaller size. At a bare minimum I'm sure that 15GB could be shaved down to 12GB, possibly 10GB. I doubt it could be realistically fit onto a single DVD9 but two would be entirely within reason.
And again, PS3fanboysir, I wasn't suggesting it should be released on DVD9s, just that it could if need be. Don't read into it more than what I said, because all I said was it'd be feasible. Cry moar that Blu-ray isn't a necessity.
Also, Fire, note that I never said blu-ray's storage increase is useless, just that it isn't necessary and DVD9 does still have some life left.
Too much compression is not a good thing y'know. Sure it can be compressed more, but all that would do is lower the quality of textures, and distort sound.
I remember reading Resistance is a raw 20 gigs. Raw as in before it's been compressed.
I wouldn't bet against you on that one. But keep in mind to compress the game any further would mean sacrificing quality. Of coarse there is the other alternative, which means cutting out levels and other things that make the game.
Other issues are, It would also choak the living shit out of the Wii and 360 and they would freeze because it could not even begin to understand nor ever handle the how the game is made.
*DVD9 is less advanced (Which you know, but just say it with me)
*If games are going to be larger, Blu Ray is literally better for the enviroment. (Seeing on how single Disc's will be used per prouduct rather than making disc sets)
*Any game that requires a Harddrive to be played, can also be played off of a single Blu-Ray disc, (Just a reminder FFXI is a measly 7 GB, it's on HDD only because it needs to be updated all the time. Even DVD9 would hold it down). If the HDD game is above 50gigs then the game is way ahead of it's time. the Blu Ray will hold several titles as opposed to 1 title though. FOR CHEAP !
*If only Microsoft knew, they would have intergrated HD DVD right into the console, and if they lowered their pride X1000, they would have intergrated Blu Ray which is better than HD DVD.
*If Blu Ray fails in the movie world. It makes no difference as to what Blu Ray is doing for games.
*One who rents movies will grin at the Blu Ray section in the video store if they have a PS3 at home. I hear even Animated presentations are breath taking on Blu Ray. To enjoy the lesser movie experience on the 360, you will have to pay extra for that, which would make the 360 exceed the PS3 in price.
*Calling people who support Sony "fanboy" is part of Microsofts mastery. Like the bard who played for the mice as the mice followed the bard, Microsoft is making many believe Sony hates us or something.
*What reason do people hate Sony again ? No rumble ? They copy Wii mote nunchuck stick ? Made grown men cry at E3 with arrogance ? Or was it amature video made by Anti Sony critics found on the internet do a number on what the youth think about the PS3 ? Actions speak louder than words, and the fury here is an offspring of envy.
*Multiplatform games between PS3 and 360, has us all waiting for Microsoft to evolve. Some will see this scenario as a hold up.
This is commonly seen as, "360 cannot do the things PS3 can do, and the PS3 can do everything the 360 can with ease". To say no to that, is to say the XboX is just as advanced as PS3.
*PS2 games outselling 360 games, is good for Sony, (Just saying how PS2 is still being advertized and still going strong)
*360 does have more games to choose from at this point in time. PS3 is still a baby and most likely never catch up in numbers. But the PS3 will break the 360's ass when these games start to roll out plus the FREE online service.
*360 has a better GPU, So much power for so little data. The more that GPU gets pushed, the smaller those 360 games will be. Let's face it making a game to fit on 2 DVD's is bad for 360's image.

*PS3 will have the games with the best graphics. Some less outstanding than others for sure. Just like how some PS2 games look better than some 360 games.
*PS3 offers more controll function. (Don't get me wrong, i love XboX controllers except that stupid D-pad it has)
*What would Microsoft truly have without Halo ?
*Microsoft wants Sony's exclusives. Sony wants nothing from Microsoft.
*HD DVD expansion on the 360 is designed to cover up Microsofts mistakes from those who think Blu Ray is only for watching movies.

I know what raw means, but THANKS FOR THE HOT TIP
If Resistance is raw 20GB and on disc it's 15GB, that's actually pretty piddly compression. Most random data can be shrunk much smaller than that via free, public lossless compression formats... and that's before getting into specifics like how much of that is audio, how much is texturing, etc.
It wouldn't necessarily mean cutting quality to a noticeable degree. Lossless audio compression can be very effective, and if you use even a minor degree of lossy compression you can cut the space taken by audio drastically without sacrificing much quality.
Uncompressed textures are nice but realistically speaking they're a waste of space, because even lossless texture compression can be pretty powerful. Look at PNG, it achieves comparable compression rates to mid-high quality JPEGs and it's totally lossless.
Kay, sure. I'm not trying to argue that Blu-ray is a bad thing, just that DVD9 does still have some life left, and that the shift to Blu-ray was pre-emptive.
FFXI is effing huge, as is WoW, and both fit within 9GB. I don't see what your point is here though, since you pointed out yourself that at least one really big game would fit just fine on a DVD9 as-is right now.
At the time when 360 was released, blu-ray was not available and would have been incredibly infeasible. Hell, even with the PS3's release almost a year later, the blu-ray's inclusion is biting the system in the ass just as much as it's helping it. The biggest problems with production stemmed from the lack of blu-ray diodes, and it's one of the most expensive parts in the system by far... in a $600 system that lost $250 per sale when it was launched. That's OBSCENE. When 360 was released, even HD-DVD was still too new to be feasible without taking a colossal loss on the system's hardware.
And no, it wouldn't exceed the PS3's price, it would match it.
So wait, you think Microsoft invented the term "fanboy"? LMFAO, has Sony blinded you tards that much?
Lemme give you a hint: most of the people who are trying to explain to you fuckwads that the PS3 might have some kind of problem, or might not be the best console ever, are frustrated by how obstinate you idiots are, mostly pulling bullshit out of your asses (to your credit, you haven't actually done that yet wrt PS3, though Mara and Fire have both done so several times - you've just made some questionable logical points) to defend the uber-console when it's doing really quite poorly in the market, and there MUST be a reason for it. Wouldn't you agree on that? Being outsold by Game Boy Advance in February and being the 3rd worst selling console that month, only beating the out-of-production GameCube and Xbox... and you don't see a problem with that?

Tagrineth said:Arguable. The SIXAXIS tilt sensor is pretty limited, and from my play time with MotorStorm it's very over sensitive. Most of the people who would try it at the Circuit City I used to work at, out would oversteer like crazy, even after 5-10 minutes of "getting used to it". Now of course after playing with it for an hour or two you'll get used to its sensitivity, and that's entirely up to the game's own settings and how the game reads the tilt...
But SIXAXIS has this other problem of neutral being perfectly level. I don't even hold controllers level - I like to hold my controllers up vertically most of the time, which would not work with any PS3 game that used the tilt functions. Some of my Wii games give me minor cramps in my arms after a while but the Wiimote feels a lot more "natural" than the SIXAXIS, at least in motorstorm and NBA '07 (the only two games I've put any real time into).
And then the 360 pad has a built-in port for a headset, which is much more convenient than plugging a headset into the console itself. It's also more comfortable to hold. =)
PS3 is here, and it is affordable.
Tagrineth said:As far as I'm concerned I've said everything I need to say, both of your fanboy psychoses are painfully plain to anyone who reads this anyway, so, whatever.
- Sony PS3 is more advanced, The cell processor is so fast, i'm sure Sony can program the Eyetoy to rape the Wii Mote by reading hand movement or body movement if the user so desires. The Eye toy demonstrations show the PS3 can track movements using augmented reality quite accuratly with lightning speed. Sure Eye Toy and camera games are old, but never has it been this accurate. The capabilities of the PS3 is more than the competition in many aspects.
Seriously though, is 600 dollars that bad? 500 soon enough.. lol.. really not a problem for me, it just takes time to save up enough, and I don't mind waiting![]()
I have never owned a Xbox and I play ffxi now on PS2. $600 is ridiculous for a videogame with only a handful of games you can buy for it. I make a very good living so it's not like I can't go to bestbuy right now and get it if I wanted to. But that's not exactly chump change.
I'm going to make sure PS3 doesn't go the way of the Atari Jaguar or Sega CD before I fork over that kind of money for a console with limited games. Somehow I doubt if I'll ever be able to play ffxi on PS3. Just cause PS1 and PS2 were good doesn't mean PS3 will be. Nintendo and Super Nintendo were awesome but Nintendo 64 stunk.
(because Sony came in and owned Nintendo outta the first place for consoles a long time ago)
As if you pioneered bashing Sony. You're a victim of Microsofts 3.2 billion dollar advertizement campaign which took the internet by storm aswell as you're freedom to peacefully exist with a more advanced system.
Just to throw out there, I play FFXI on PS3
