WTF ...............

Lol, I love it when America make themselves look dumb. Shame the media always seem to make America look a disgusting place.

You guys do know its a satirical late night comedy show right? According to that article anyways. if that is the case I don't see why its so awful.

There are no shortage of people here with a knack for making us look like the most xenophobic bunch of cattle-humping shitfuckers in the world.

Then again, those persons are probably the most xenophobic bunch of cattle-humping shitfuckers in the world.

And a mega +1 about media coverage making our country look disgusting.

There are pockets of nastiness, but on the whole, our land doesn't look too bad.

Yeh seriously, I'm not gonna lie. But looking at the British news, we haven't heard one good thing about America in so long lol. Just seems the way people in the media like to show it.

Well, the rest of the world hasn't exactly had much to celebrate from us in the...what, past decade?

So much America bashing on this site nowadays...

Yep, and it actually brightens my day to see guys like DW actually giving us some props rather than just saying "omg u americans are so blah blah foreign policy, yadda yadda world economy is your fault", like I love hearing over...and over... and over again from the same people, like parrots.

Wow. A group of comedians, making jokes. How dare they!

I actually tried to read the comments on youtube, but got tired after 2 pages of "BAWWWW."

Most of the cool people I know on FFXI are American lol. Can't be that bad out there. And you guys have Britney Spears... Oh and Justin Timberlake...

i love the comments about burning down the white house. their only recollection of a military victory was the burning of a house, in war they didn't even participate in. everyone, including the Canadians know their country's military is a joke, i don't know why they are getting their gorgeous white capri pants in a bunch over a very old joke.

TV news cast or a meaningless comedy show, that is still disrespectful to all of the Canadians who have been killed fighting in Afghanistan.

I have a lot of opinions to express about the American people but won't. D:

:2cents:

I personally don't have anything against Americans. I grew up in South West Ontario that spanned a bridge to Michigan. I had cousins who lived over there, and in the late 80s and early 90s, we spent a great deal shopping there.

Today I know quite a few Canadians who don't like the USA. I feel its more that Canadians (who have severe identity crises because we let immigrants call the shots here) hate that the rest of the world lumps them in with USA stereotypes. Canadians strive to make themselves "Un-American", but when it comes down to it, we do share a lot of simialrities, much like cousins.

I know Americans who have come to Canada and have admitted there's a different attitude, but in general, a Canadian city isn't that far off from any city in the States.

We're used to Americans making fun of us, and just the same, our comedians poke fun at Americans. However, I do feel that there is a certain line that should not be crossed. I think making light of something like the military, where lives are risked and occassionally lost, is in bad taste. I can guarantee that if Canadians made fun of something so personal and close to home like the 116 lost in the mission, I'm sure the US would wage war on us (I kid, but you guys would be pissed).

Every time we lose a soldier over seas, the bodies are brought back and processioned to the coroner's office in Toronto. It is a very big deal. I have seen people waiting along overpasses with Canadian flags, waiting for the hearses to pass by, and it is a very emotional and touching thing to see. That is why we find it so awful. Joking about it just makes it seem like Americans find no value in what we do.

Make fun of our accents, our love for hockey and maple syrup, our national animal because its a beaver, our slightly gay looking currency, our over-apologetic nature and humble attitude, or the fact that we're America JR, The 51st State, or America's hat, but please don't mock our dead who gave their lives so that people around the world can have the same freedoms as us, and our militiary who risk their lives everyday.

In America we mock everyone and everything, including more than anything ourselves. I really only tend to take offense to people(individuals) who are both easily offended and careless in "dishing it out" so to speak.

It's funny when, for example, the Simpsons does an episode where they travel to a different country, and inevitably, the other country is offended and often the episode is never aired there. The irony being the other 1000 Simpson episodes mocking America and American culture is fine.

While it's true that individuals have thick or thin skin regardless of the country, here at least the easily offended don't have complete control to tell people what they can and can't say.

If you're getting mad at the US over this comedy show, you're getting mad that as a country we allow it to be aired. At the same time, countries all over the world bash America, and often in seriousness, not in jest, and the world keeps spinning over here.

So I guess the point being is, if you're so easily offended by individuals in America who happen to be insensitive, why would anyone then respond with a statement such as "all americans are..." that is inevitably dumber than what started the offense in the first place and proves one's own hypocrisy.

And of Canada, I think most Americans barely distinguish between Canadians and Americans. For example my aunt married a Canadian and nobody thought of him as a "foreigner." I'm physically closer to Canada here than I am to.. Florida. I can't even tell someone's Canadian by talking to them unless they tell me. Yeah, you will get mocked a little for being Canadian, mostly because it's kind of a funny state of being. Like being from Oklahoma or being black. If I'm hanging out with a friend I'll tease them about whatever because teasing someone about having straight teeth or liking the Rolling Stones isn't particulary good joke material to be mining.

Doesn't mean Americans actually think, gun to their head, there's any real difference between Americans and Canadians. And if as a Canadian you don't want that stigma because you feel the US has such low standing - then best of luck to ya. Personally I don't give a shit, it's your American cousins who feel embarrassed to be Americans I take issue with.

There's a pretty big difference between making a joke and sounding like an ass.
If I made a joke about how people who died on sept 11 had it coming because they didn't pack parachutes I'd be about as over the line as those guys were about the Canadian military probably.

I laughed when I read that (._.')

Sure there are lines that can be crossed. The question is were these people mocking specifically the dead soldiers or the Canadian military in general? Because that's a pretty big difference and I didn't watch the whole video because it was long and not particularly funny.
