Normally, Sabia, you have a nice level head, but it seems like your rage at players who can afford more than you is really escalating.

Paying double the price on an item that has been steady is stupid cubs. 2.5 mil, sure why not but 5 mil?
Because of what having something like that means. It's something that sells only a few times a MONTH, and (correct me if I'm wrong) is NOT a 100% drop off of the last Padfoot. Put yourself in the seller's shoes for a second. You see an obviously good item that doesn't show up for sale but 3 or 4 times a month, there are none up, and the price is steady. Do you:
A: Sell the earring at 2.5 million so people like you won't bitch about others 'gouging' the AH
or
B: Bump the price to 3 million or so, knowing the rarity is low and thus makes potential buyers willing to pay more?
If you chose A, well, bully for you, but you lost out on gil your customers were willing to pay. High-value NM drops aren't fucking Wal-Mart, they're gameplay boosters and status symbols and people, GILBUYER OR NOT, are going to keep paying more and more until they've hit a ceiling. Honestly, I think Astral Earring could go to 6 or 7 million.
Sure, If SE wants to combat gil selling and gil buying why doesn't it just ad some more RA/EX gear like the Assult Jerkin, Moldy earring etc? Make it a bitch and a half to quest for but at least you get a fair shot at it.
So instead of paying into the player base via the AH, you pay into the player base to get them to help you quest/camp a NM? Example: Voyager Sallet. Please find me a full alliance of people who'd camp a 24 hour spawn that drops nothing but rare/ex stuff in a CoP capped area with no expected compensation. I'll let you get right on that. Also, the Brown Belt quest. Not rare/ex, but you try telling a Monk who's spent 3 or 4 days straight camping Morbolger that what he's doing is a good thing because it discourages gilbuying? And don't get me started on Black Belt.
You can't start crafting anymore because of Power levelers buying up materials for more than what the synths are worth,
It's ALWAYS been this way. Except now Materal A and Product B just cost 2x more gil than they used to.
not everyone is an NM hunter
Agreed, and OMG SHOCKER UP THE POOPER I still carve out a nice life for myself in this game. I'd say I'm sorry that you haven't, but at the same time you've spent how many days camping Padfoot for 0 gain?
and frankly if SE wants to attract some more people to the game and bring old ones back I think this is something they need to re-evaluate. This game is more like a job than my actual job is at this point.
And here comes the persecution complex. Everyone's out to get you, Sabia. Really. Nobody wants you to advance in this game and all of the items that are juuuuuust out of your reach are being intentionally inflated JUST to get you pissed off and write flames about how you can't get them and how it must be the fault of gilbuyers and not a flaw in your ability to make gil.
It looks like the system is playing you, not the other way around. I'd look into righting that ship if you want to start enjoying this game again.
Good for you, you got all your gear on your monk to 75, would you like a cookie for it? I mean please.
Damn, ya burned me. Success stories in-game deserve disdain and anger. You're right, and I'm sorry I learned how to make gil and you didn't. This is obviously another SE plot to get you to quit.
