All Rappa did was make a thread about stuff everyone already knew. Why does it matter who posts it?

Rappa making a thread saying that Jyak was being a dumbass is akin to making a thread about a dunes party having a noob in it.

Its pretty common knowledge that its true and you'd be hard pressed to find someone to disagree with it.

So why is it not good to make a thread about a dunes pt, but the flame on jyak is all well and good?

Anything else is almost always just proverbially kicking sand on the little guy.

There are tons of threads that shouldn't exist. I'd never make a dunes flame, myself. Heck, in my entire membership at QCDN I've never started a flameboard thread against anyone. Ideally, everyone could just forgive and forget. My argument, though, is that we shouldn't have rules prohibiting it. I think dunes flames suck. I think half the flames on the flameboard suck, but I think people should be allowed to make threads that I think suck, because someone else might want to read it, and I can pass over it. I very often do.

I do see what you mean though (I admit I'm a bit spaced out due to RL crap right now) and making a RULE against Dunes threads is pretty dumb.

...But no less dumb than the threads themselves. =P

No rule against Dunes threads, but a collection thread for noob encounters XD... saves space :biggrin:

Even if it is a flam eabout something that is obvious, atleast he puts thought into it and doesn't just say "So and so sucks lawlz. Discuss."

Can't say I care for generic flames, I usually skip over them and see what's being derailed about it and add on to it; that's not to say I think they should be removed, as compelling as something may be to read a flame titled "So-and-so Dunes Flame" you always have a choice to read it either way whether how strong or weak that impulse is. Why bother if you don't like it or move on if the site doesn't live up to your standards.

Boycotting is fun.

I have a fairly strong feeling that no matter how well put together a dunes flame would ever hope to be, it would still be nothing but a dunes flame.
 
Depends on the flame, if it's abou the dunes sucking then yes. If it is about something heinous happening in the dunes that the community needs to hear about, then no.
 
I could make a dunes flame that would literally rock your fucking socks off. A well-worded flame about anything would be worth reading. I could make a legit flame about the AH if I wanted to, I just don't. The problem is that no one cares to make a good flame anymore, they throw down a couple sentences and call it a day. The only reason I don't make more flames than I do is that I don't play ffxi much so there isn't much for me to flame about anymore.

I agree. But invariably, someone would happen by this so-called well-worded Dunes flame and say "It's the Dunes, who cares?"

They do it everytime, and still think it's funny. It's annoying.

Worse to me are people that put "lol" in front of everything. It's not the loldunes, there are no lolbrds, yes we all know rdm shouldn't melee but stop calling them lolmeleerdm. You don't think it's a vali flame, post why in an intelligent manner then get out.
