First things first, this is not a thread about me whining I’m not a mod anymore, I don’t mind that. I do however have a problem with how the situation was treated and how our current mod staff is handling some things. Some of this is because I was a mod and saw how things were handled, and some of it has to do with how things directly dealing with me were handled (such as no longer being a mod). Going to be a little TL;DR so sorry. Also keep in mind I no longer have access to the mod section of the board so I can’t quote posts etc and I'm going off memory.
For starters, one of my main issues during my time being a mod and up till now was how secret everything was with the mod staff is. On several different occasions i got, we’ll say scolded, for bringing up something that was mentioned in the mod forum. Hell Miros even made a post in our forums, specifically because I mentioned something from those boards, telling us to keep info from the mod forum in there. And I’m sorry but that just doesn’t make sense to me. If we are discussing something that affects you the users then I think you should know about it.
I bring this up because I still don’t know why the mod group was taken away. I mean did we take up space? When I asked Miros why he responded with “Several of the mods have expressed feeling of not being able to post what they want do to their mod status.” Which if you read some of my posts you know wasn’t me (Miros also commented on this in our IM), also from Iso’s reaction (I’ll talk more on that later) I don’t think it was her either. Since Morwen is still a mod (you can call it what you want, shes still a mod) I doubt it was her so that leaves Tauro. Now I don’t know how he feels, hes been Idle on aim, so I haven’t been able to ask him, but if that is the case then 1 of 4 people seems like a pretty bad reason to axe a group. I mean he could have just stepped down, no need to end us all as well (again Idk how he felt). Also I don’t think this was a group decision because when I talked to Makelith about it (one of the global mods) he didn’t know it had happened.
Miros’s other main reason was that we didn’t bring anything to the mod staff. Now I’m guessing he was talking mostly in regards to myself since his examples only revolved around me, however again why not just take my mod away then. Now I won’t lie, I really didn’t do much as a mod after the whole VG forum disaster. However I think that’s because I didn’t have to, as in people always seemed to conduct themselves in a good manor on my boards so I never saw the need to fix anything. And again I don’t mind the fact I’m no longer a mod, however the way in which it was handled is the problem.
Now in case any of you were wondering, its all perfectly fine that I shared Miros and My MSN conversation as you can see in a post by Miros himself :
Now I personally disagree with this, and I had a decent post typed out in the feedback section regarding this issue, however it was promptly deleted by Miros about a minute after I posted for the reason: “No raidr”. I’m sorry? Now my post didn’t break any rules. I wasn’t flamebating I was simply posting the truth. I brought up the fact that admins can view users PMs without having to log into their account (which miros made it seem like you have to do in the above post.) This was briefly mentioned by PBParrot in the thread however I just wanted to retouch on it. I also mentioned that the thread miros quoted in his post was really irrelevant seeing as how in that thread it was more about one of the partys involved posting the IM/PM, not an admin going through your PMs and posting it without your permission (permissions being one of the main issues in the quoted thread as well). So why was it deleted? Again being secretive I guess, not really sure. I also have a feeling this post had some influence on our modship being taken, however miros wouldn’t say one way or the other.
Now back to Isollde. If you didn’t notice the banners have changed, and her thread has been locked (per her request). This happened because she will no longer be taking part at QCDN reason being because of how the mod situation was handled. Now as I mentioned earlier one of the reasons was Miros didn’t feel we brought anything to the board. Now this was kind of a slap in the face to Iso because she felt she did bring things to the Art section and when I talked to her, she had apparently been trying to setup several contests which Miros had replied for her to wait until Nov to do anything with. Then he just either forgot or something and never got back to her. Never the less though Iso was indeed tryin to contribute and make the art forum a better area. Now some of you may think she is over reacting by leaving, but I have to agree with her in that its kind of a shitty deal. When you offer your service for however long only to be cut with no real reason and out of the blue is kind of a shitty deal. Also as you can see she posted in the “Organizational Change” thread that it would have been nice to get a notice. We basically got a PM saying we were done as mods about 30 mins or so before our modship was taken away. Better than in the case with Myrrh though, being as how he got no notice and we were told it was for the benefit of his health.
So basically this is a request from me to the admins to stop being full of shit and start being more straightforward with the community. I'd also still like to know why the Mod group was pulled since I really haven't gotten a straight answer for that either. I’ve got some here and there answers that sound more like BS and could have been easily fixed, rather than just straight dropping the mod group. If anything hopefully this will help you to go about an issue better in the future.
