Exactly. In order to be in the state of release, you have to know your sword's name. Zangetsu is in a constant state of Shikai, but it did not become that way until Ichigo learned his name. He had that huge zanpakutou before, but it was a normal sword, simply larger because he can't properly control his reiatsu.
 
his shikai must be cool :P if he could do it. I mean.. it looks different than a normal Zanpakto (err I butchered that spelling XD) when its shikai is off

That's because he neglects it. lol His zanpakutou is pretty much beat up. He's gonna have to do some serious sweet talking to that thing.

They don't all look the same when they're sealed up; Hitsugaya's sword has a completely different hilt and Gin's is really short.
 
If you ask me, it's simply that his sword's form cannot be sealed because of the massive amount of power it releases. So while that is most likely the form of his shikai, he can't use any of its power and relies solely on his raw strength.
 
I hope Kenpachi getting hurt that bad means he'll learn the name of his sword. Would be awesome to see him get stronger xD

I can't find the issue it was in because my manga chapters are so badly organised, but thats what I remember him saying. It was when Ichigo said somthing about his sword being released.
 
Yeah, I was always under the assumption that his sword was always in Shikai form,
but nonetheless, I'm sure he's got something to whip out in next weeks manga.

nah it's still a regular zanpakto^, knowing the name of your avatar means you can draw out the shikai stage.

Ichigo didn't know Zangetsou's name before he got his true sword, and not the one in the first episode that was really a 'borrowed' one from rukia since it has the same hilt color only much wider. It's also part of the reason he's defeated by Byakuya early on because he swings 'a sword of fluff'(something like that).

Anywho, Nnoitra's released form looks kickass, I was wondering when he'd use it.
 
um...i didn't get it at first i had to do a double take, i was like wow he gets a crescent on his head and two extra swords.

I read on to see ichigo saying he has two more arms and am like wtf ¬¬ :: goes back :: and literally went GET THE FUCK OUT...my mum shouted at me XD
 
double post, my bad...but all this speculation...what if yachiru goes and kicks Nnoitora (sp?) outta here XD
 
I'm actually hoping we'll get to see the vice captain fight, heh. Have we ever seen her do anything but cheer Kenpachi on?
 
unfortunately no, and it seems yachiru is part of Kens strenghth...and right now it isn't looking too good for him, SIX ARM FTW!
 
I've had this theory lately... It's totally insane and probably has no chance of being true, but it's still kinda funny.

What if Yachiru is Kenpachi's sword?

Damn, Kenpachi is gonna enjoy this even more! I doubt he's in any trouble like the last page caption says.
 
I don't think Kenpachi has even gone serious yet. He's just playing around.
