Ciaraleone

Invite a 41+ RDM without Refresh!

Note: Sell the Hauby, get Evoker's roll?

ITT gimps who were gimp until some LS helped them get gear, and now are awesome talk shit to someone who hasn't been "pimped". GTFO if you didn't have Haub+1/aristocrats/royal cloak/SH+1 etc before you hit 75.

Oh meeze, you silly silly guy.

He'll be back.

People like that can't leave Quetz or QCDN alone.
Shame he's not as cute as some of the other trolls here though.

While you play a game for fun, you also know that you have to put time into whatever you do to play the game well. That goes for anything really.

The fact that she said that farming is boring and not why she plays the game is just an excuse for laziness and I have no sympathy for it. There are plenty of people that play this game that hate farming (me included, makes me cringe every time I get started) but still do it and are better players for it.

COR is a gil sink but its worth it in the end when you play that job well.

Farming is boring.

Farming is dreadfully fucking boring.

I pretty much gave up FF for this reason. I was not a dedicated enough player and started to feel guilty about my lacking.

Fuck it. I wanted a game to play that did not feel like work and dredged on so I moved on.

It's a matter of understanding that ALL players at some point need to depend on their peers to have put in the effort, the necessary elbow grease to play.

All in all the response from that group of people wasn't a lack of understanding, they seemed to understand full well what was really necessary and just 'didn't want to'.

I randomly logged in last night and saw Ciaraleone flirting and /emoting with Urat in AU.

People tend to use the word "farming" in different ways... To me farming is fighting a bunch of mobs for a gil drop. Like crawlers for silk threads. Which can get boring easily yes.
But theres alot other ways, fishing, low lvl crafting(yes there is profits), BCNMs, ISNMs, KSNMs, SCNMs, ENMs, NM Hunting, ANNMs, even exping in toau and selling coins. If you find all of that boring then yeah, theres really not a point in playing the game.

Cia is actually a pretty good friend of mine from my LS, and yes, she has been complaining about lack of money lately.

I do agree that she should at least get Evoker's roll since it is necessary for the pty's refresh and what not, and I also remember there being a time when I bought her some die and she paid me back for it. I think it was 3 of them which totalled to about 30k.

I remember yesterday or the day before she complained about only having 15k and barely any BS but a lot of KS, so 25k short for evoker's roll, which shouldn't be hard to make.

I'll have a chat with her about this too though and let her know there's this topic about her. Other than that, she's a good person, but still has some things to learn about this game. Her highest so far is a 69 SAM, and I know she's one of those players who constantly enjoy ptying, but try to stick to LS ptys because they don't complain much if she's a little gimped or anything.

If push comes to shove, maybe I can get the LS to donate a little bit of money for her evoker's roll, or I could buy it and she can pay me back, but I try to keep as much gil as I can to bring smn up to 75, since in the last few weeks I went from having 4 mil down to about 600k now, taking smn from 24 to 52, and also spending gil on stuff outside of SMN.

I try to get the best gear I can or is necessary for my jobs, and I also get any necessary spells, tools, etc. I may need too.

It's good Cia has this wake-up call, even though she's a really kind-hearted person, but she needs to learn that farming (in its many different forms) can be fun as well, since you get the satisfaction of accomplishment and gaining something to benefit your character and the people who play with you.

NO NO NO NO NO.

This is the exact fucking opposite of what needs to be done here. All you're teaching him/her is that if people bitch enough about his gear someone else will buy it for him. What a terrible lesson.

Agreed, as the saying goes: "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime." Farming is boring yes, but like TG said, so is work, but we need it to pay the bills and to fund our fun time as well. Theres many ways to make money in this game that are more fun, she/he just needs to learn them. Giving him/her money is only going to make the problem worse.

Echoing what others have done: Charity will not help.

Evoker's roll is only the beginning. Dice get expensive, COR basically requires skilled marksmanship and bullets at higher level play, and all anyone would be doing by "helping" is making the backlash in the future worse. Someone mentioned that is was the equivalent of having a RDM without having Refresh and that's basically true.

Worse, though, is that by suffering and bringing them along to level in ls-only parties won't teach the relevant skills to do the support a Corsair is expected to put out. Now you not only have a RDM without Refresh, but when they finally get it, they have no clue how to due a Refresh cycle, or anything that's basically elementary after lv60.

If you want to help, help by reminding the person at fault here that Corsair is extremely expensive and has a very large role to fill. Samurai can get away with not performing at end-game capacity 100% of the time due to a party always having more than 1 DD. A corsair who's doing a shitty job will be painfully obvious, and people looking for leet pro exp will be a lot less understanding because some noob corsair can't pull, dd, buff and refresh at the same time.

Just saying.

Agreed. I had LSmates in FallenSouls literally *beg* the linkshell for money to obtain their (not always so easily obtained back then, admittedly) gear. However, it was no amount that they couldn't have farmed, BCNM'd or KSNM'd for. We're talking pre-75 armor, not relics.

Update! I think the chatlogs sum it all up.

Also of note, the bazaar comment

I think that sums it up. Avoid her, she's not interested in playing professionally, or even well, for that matter.

Oh, and it's out of my log now, but she said she was only grinding Cor so she could "look awesome in the AF."

A real winner here.

I miss Skeith :3

I was chatting with Lyall while this was going down, and he left out a bunch of other gems--improper use of Random Deal ("so I can Hunter's Roll faster"), Doubling Up on a lucky number, her telling him to use a polearm instead of a Soboro (even though he was trying to back off on hate to let the NIN tank), and her generally giving him attitude. I love how she's all proud of burning from 37 to 55 in 5 days--whoopee, girlfriend, I did SMN from 10 to 75 in a week. And you know what I was after that? A gimp SMN that I've had to spend far longer skilling and gearing properly.

Bronze bullets? Seriously? Too broke to buy anything but refusing to farm? This isn't just a new player in need of guidance, this is willful gimpitude because doing it right is too hard. THAT'S the kind of attitude I hate.

Chrono, LS parties may let you let a bit of gimpness slide, but any of my LSes would speak up if I were 55+ with that many empty gearslots and that bad of an attitude. It's one thing to halfass it in Qufim or the Dunes, but by now she should have a modicum of pride.

Oh, and someone should let her know that the "awesome-looking AF" she so desires costs money, too.
