cut your hair or don't come back to school.

Yeah...I've had issues with my long hair before. When I was 17 I tried for almost a year to get a job and no one would hire me, everyone told me(friends, family, etc.) it was because my hair was too long. Finally I gave in and cut it. Got a job within a month. Fucking bullshit.

And yes, everything about that article is bullshit. That pissed me off just reading it.

I was able to keep my long hair for a good 4 years through high school.

I think it's only because it was so damn curly that if I put on a Kippah I'd be able to walk in Israel without turning heads. :-/

its a sign of professionalness. i used to have long hair if your not in a metal band you shouldn't have long hair. fucking hippies. though i do agreee schools shouldnt have a say in it though. they make stupid rules, like when i was in Highschool you couldnt have a long belt tail because it represented the size of your penis apparently. ugh

It took him four years to get it down to the middle of his back? Jeez :/
That said, I'd be all kinds of pissed if my school district forced me to cut my hair. Three years in the making, I'm not cutting it until it starts becoming a problem.

I thought long hair was just a phase... i'm still going through it i hope they don't ban it in my school.... shit then i'll go into that phase where I do the oppisite of everything... SHIT

This is the shit that pisses me off.. the kid sounds like an upstanding student who's hard working and stuff.. I hate the shallowness that still plagues today :| QUALIFIED people not getting jobs or getting punished for such stupid shallow reasons.

This is bullshit. Men should have the same rights to long hair that women have at school.

I've had long hair at school when I turned 16, and the teachers didn't really bother that much, but this is the UK I'm talking about. =/

I support this guy!

Screw the rules we have hair!

I seriously hope everything turns out well for them.

Edit:

Reason why I can't get a job in town maybe ><

Total bullshit.

Shit I didn't know I had to be in a metal band to have long hair and we all must be hippies for having long hair...

Oh wait I discredited your post when you made up a word for professionalism.

The guy has my sympathy. It's idiotic, but he may as well get used to anti-hair idiocy now and learn how to make his own opportunities.

There was a great lady in one of my education courses back when I thought I wanted to be a teacher. Her arms were basically one big tattoo from shoulder to wrist, and she took all kinds of well-meaning hell from the instructors about how difficult her job search was going to be if she didn't wear long sleeves all the time.

Her arms were basically one big tattoo from shoulder to wrist,

That would be called a "sleeve" lol, just so you know.

Suck my salty balls jackass.

I've had a Senior School send over 200 students home for not having a blazer in my home country. At my old High School you could get sent home for having an unnatural hair colour. This is nothing.

Ah yes, British school don't like it when people don't wear blazers. At my high school, if you didn't have it on for a second you'd be in trouble. Even in sumer, you couldn't have the blazer off. They also didn't like people having top buttons slightly undone if it was choking them...

bloody unrealistic schools... they want to make us robots!

hehe, my high school guys had to wear pants all year so even when it got hotter (there was a rather dressy dress code) they were quite uncomfortable. The girls wore whatever pretty much and got away with it, so my friend started wearing a kilt to school (dress kilt :P like.. nice kind.. not original.. like this http://www.utilikilts.com/ here) and so eventually got them to allow dress shorts for code :P was funny.

if the school is a public school, the kid may have a case... if its private (which it looks like it is), he's shit out of luck.
