Don't where to put this.

What, do you want me to congratulate people in the Good Times forum for completing CoP? Awesome, couple years late. Or patting someone on the back for getting Bounding Boots? I see very few achievements that are worth congratulations, so pardon me for not participating in circlejerk a la QCDN.

What is my mind doing in your head???

I was responding to this. You can support PLD/PUP/THF/etc. affirmative action all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that there are far better jobs for your exp party. Have fun with your 10k/hr WHM PLD PUP PUP etc. setup; I'll stick with my 20k/hr, thanks.

Funny . . . it looked an awful lot like you were responding to this:

miracle of miracles happened last night to me , i was 1980/44000 on my 75 pld and actually got an invite!!! a rng started the party we had rng blm rdm whm pld and thf. although the exp wasn't as fast as cannon pty we did manage to get chain 6-7 on occasion and i managed to get a 21k buffer on my pld.

Yeah, I know there are many more optimal jobs than Pld(among others), but the fact of the matter remains - they do need xp.

I got only two 75 jobs - Bst and Blm. I farm and xp on Bst, and I'm looking forward to meriting on Blm. On Bst, I don't even bother throwing my flag up, even though I know what kinda damage I'm actually capable of cranking out, though I still seek on Blm while I solo.

Sometimes I get a really good Burn party, other times I get a mixed party that tends toward a more standard build. Sometimes I'm nukin, sometimes I'm backup healer. Bottom line, though - I don't mock anyone or begrudge them the opportunity to xp a job that might not be considered ideal.

Btw, even though Nich's already stated your magnanimity in helping a Pld maintain their buffer, let's ignore that and stick with the tone of your last post:

Have fun having your endy-NMs tanked by Plds who can't get an invite past 73. I'll stick with my occasional 16k/hr Burn, and help other people buffer in the meantime.

Well, when we have PLD mains in the linkshell, we assumed they're 75. Even if they aren't, that's their responsibility to get to 75, not mine.

While congratulating someone is both positive and encouraging, it's by no means the only contribution I'm talkin about. Feel free to engage in whatever form of group fappage floats your boat. All I know is that you've been a needlessly and largely unjustified prick as long as you've been posting on these boards.

Sometimes I agree with you, sometimes I don't, but never once have I thought of you in any other way than a superior asshole.

If this isn't your custom title in the next hour I'm gonna be sorely disappointed.

You're entitled to your own opinion.

If a paladin dies due to his linkshell, it's the responsibility of that linkshell and/or his friends to regain that exp. You should stop trying to force me(for simplicity, in reality it's everyone) to invite the pld/thf/pup/shittymeritjobx to my parties when I have no stake in their buffer. I've helped several friends who main "undesirable" merit jobs and needed a buffer; so the linkshell or just his friends got together and rebuilt their buffer or even got them merits. Shit, we let Cythe leech off our KRT cannons a lot(pld, 3 mnk, whm/rdm, brd); that's how he got 75 and a bunch of his merits. Although he went above and beyond almost every pld out there; with his DD gear and capped club skill so that he could actually help out a bit.

YOUR pld's are dying for YOUR linkshell, YOU should invite them to regain that buffer; not me or anyone else. It's none of our concern that he's about to delevel, but apparently not a big enough concern for you to do anything about it, either. If I'm building a merit party, I want as much exp/hour as possible; I'm not going to invite some random pld/thf/pup that I've never heard of and who has about a 95% chance of sucking to ruin my exp. You should have friends by the time you're 75, and a linkshell; use them and stop trying to guilt trip or otherwise force perfect strangers to get much lower exp/hour just because you only want to play the "weaker" merit jobs.

Hell, just make a party of the "undesirables" so that you can all get that exp together; just make sure you stick to a camp appropriate for your party. It's retarded to waste one of the prime merit cannon camps on a party that's going to get 1/3 of the exp(at most) and can do the same or better in another spot.

Well, for starters, how about this very thread?

Then there are these beauties. Please note, I did you the courtesy of skipping posts created during that occasion when Vang was “borrowing” your ID. In truth though, in a lot of cases, the only difference between your posts and those created when you’re “channeling” Vang are their respective lengths.

In the spirit of fairness though, after looking over your posts in greater detail, I do see that you have meaningful things to say quite often. It just so happens that in the vast majority of posts I’ve read by you, I’ve caught you in “sniper mode,” thus my overall negative impression.

For what it’s worth, allow me to offer you an apology. Much like myself, you’re only an asshole some of the time.

I used to be concerned about my pld exp, especally if I had a really bad run of luck in gods/sea etc, but through helpful linkshell mates and farming in sky/sea I have managed to cp my pld exp and maintain it there. In fact all my lv 75 jobs are at capped exp, it just takes a little time and effort to attain this.

Don't put thief in the same box as pup or pld.... I have good gear, not the best, but I do at leat as much more dmg as drks sams and the like ( pre 2H update though)... Thats one point I'll aggree with necrosis.

I had many merit pt on thf , usually 2-3 war/mnk/drk/sam, 1 rdm or whm, 1 smn or rdm, which most people would say is a shitty pt. Guess what? only chains 40s. Who were pulling? Me.

Last melee burn I had: ( right after 2H update) with friends. Colibri camp.
mnk ( badly geared, my mule!), drk (dayner), pup ( pchan), mdkuser (thf), uzor (rdm), roe (brd). I didn't parse or anything but we got chains 40s, so yea its not the bad jobs that make bad exp, just bad players.

As for PLDs, I had a PLD pt with chain 20s so chain 6-7 on occasion is really meh.
The key is to have a a good puller. Yea people. Brd is not the only job that can pull ( pld was pulling in that pt).

Now I hate meriting because I hate seeking period. Its boring. Only thing I do is go solo 4k exp every time I can for 30 minutes, usuing exp ring and on thunder/ice day, pudding camp. Yes there is a Life beyond merits!

Other than that, yea don't give a damn to what Necro says on pup/pld etc. Necrosis is the same as always, full of shit, on my blist for a looong time, everyone should do the same!

Even if THF didn't do great damage by itself, a lot of people don't recognize what their utility provides. Hate transfer means your tanks tanking. So your DDs can DD fully, as well as drop some acid bolts early on in the game, increasing everyones effectiveness but the Black Mages - Thats all damage coming from the THF being there.

A parse isn't a gospel reference of a jobs power. It's not even worth making reference as a decree of your own jobs power, as it relies on the party to work like a machine. The machine can either be really good, or really shitty. EXP/hour means nothing in that regard, despite how nice it is to achieve a high yield. If it works, it works. The question isn't how fast or hard, but how well it works(I know that sounds perverted.)

Obviously, the best situation is both, which is pretty common. But I'd rather take a well organized party over one that tries to be a cannon. A lot of people fail to realize that the EXP gain for balanced parties isn't deadlocked at 3-4k like it was when 10k was amazing for cannons. It's gone up as well, assuming your party knows what it can and can't do, and when to stop the chain before it makes things worse. It won't ever compete with a cannon, so it shouldn't try to. The stigma is still downtime, and breaking chains up to prevent it from being worse is what you should aim for, rather than fight until you're completely depleted or someone dies.

Then congrats on being one of the 7 thfs on the entire server who don't suck at their job. I've done 18k an hour with necrosis on mamools before, so while a thief can be effective and useful; odds are that the random level 75 thf seeking that you've never heard of won't be. The only way Necrosis was able to keep up with damage and not be a leech was he didn't try to transfer hate to the tank all the time. He was throwing out weapon skills as soon as he could, trick attacking on whoever was in front of him at the time.

So apparently the only way to not be a hindrance in a merit party is to play thf "incorrectly." Thief is one of the low-tier jobs for merits, even one as good as Necrosis could have been replaced with a decently geared warrior and we would have gotten the same exp/hour. Hate transfer on the tank isn't necessary for merit parties, when everything is dying so quick that no one has to tank for very long; so thief's sole role is practically useless, and they lose most of their reason for inviting. You're not a cannon job, and everyone wants to cannon so that they can get their exp and get out as fast as possible; the same goes for the other non-cannon jobs. You knew that leveling the job and you leveled it anyways; people only look like a stupid, spoiled brat whining about it after the fact.

I hated having a thief in my party when I was leveling ninja, and I hated leaders who invited thieves thinking that they were actually necessary. You're great for endgame, but for exp, I've never found much use for thf's unless the tank sucked.

sorry, fucked up quotes, the text below the links should be outside of the quotes

I have good gear, not the best
You have skadi legs, everything else is standard; in my experience, in order for a THF to surpass other well-geared mainstream DDs, they need to have a good deal of homam in order to maintain excellent acc with meat. (keep in mind I'm talking about the tougher camps like Mamools, not caedamire)

I had many merit pt on thf , usually 2-3 war/mnk/drk/sam, 1 rdm or whm, 1 smn or rdm, which most people would say is a shitty pt. Guess what? only chains 40s. Who were pulling? Me.
If you were pulling instead of a BRD or something, chances are your party sucked by most standards.

pup ( pchan), mdkuser (thf) I didn't parse or anything but we got chains 40s, so yea its not the bad jobs that make bad exp, just bad players.
Remind me how you weren't getting bad exp again then?

Other than that, yea don't give a damn to what Necro says on pup/pld etc. Necrosis is the same as always, full of shit, on my blist for a looong time, everyone should do the same!
This is very ironic.

If you have a job that isn't desired in cannon merits, just bug your friends to xp with you when you need a buffer. Unfortunately there are some jobs which simply don't give the same kind of performance as others, and so if you invite those jobs, you're going to have to deal with a lower xp/hr rate. That's fine for some, but you have to keep in mind that most everything in this game demands a lot of your "free time" and for many, they don't want to spend more time than necessary to accomplish a goal when there is a faster way to accomplish it.

Why don't people want to xp w/ PUP though? This from my understanding from friends on other Servers is Unique to this Server.

Nah, it's not unique to Quetzalcoatl. I played a lot on Shiva, and a little bit on Fairy, and people hated PUP in both servers. Some things I've found to be server-specific such as sub job preferences (Fairy swears by cor/whm...) but I've seen consistent hate for the PUP on all servers. I guess the "reasoning" would be that everything the PUP does can be done better by another job, really. Most people would prefer a MNK to a PUP. I played around a little bit with PUP, never got it very high and never partied it, but...I could see how it would be people's last choice in a set up because they don't really offer anything absolutely awesome to a party. From what I've seen, people love to play PUP, but people don't love to play WITH a PUP. This goes for people who play it themselves though...I've met many people who play PUP and who themselves wouldn't pt with one when on another job. :P

Another thing is that it seemed to have taken a very long time for people to figure out how to equip their automatons well. In the meantime, PUPs got a bad reputation because of it. Get enough people who don't play a job well and an entire game population will automatically assume that whoever plays the job sucks. DRK comes to mind. I've pted with some *great* DRKs, but I know lots of DRKs who get no invites because that job has a bad rep of attracting "bad players" and so people don't even take a chance on anyone playing that particular job. That's just how it is, and yeah, making your own parties with a good set up and then having it go well is the only way to slowly change people's minds.

/sigh i remember when exp parties were about having fun while kicking a few mobs round. Cannons have turned it into an E-Peen competition.

Yes, because god forbid we be efficient with our exping.
