Early Level Sync Findings

The gear gimping is bogus because SE didn't apply scaling, or any kind of inteligent things like that. They simply harcaped bonuses based on level. <50 = +1 maximum, <60 = +2 maximum, <75 = +3 maximum. That's why Hidate and Osode both give +3's when you sync them, eve though Hidate give higher.

Also, the -stats not getting adjusted is garbage. Sure, they shouldn't go away, but My hauby shouldn't give +1attack and -20 evasion

Easy and reasonable formula that SE could implement that would actually make sense (and isn't too far off track from what they already do with, say, CoP rings):

If item level > capped level
new stat bonus = floor(old stat bonus*(capped level/item level))

(No else clause, i.e. do nothing to it if it's something you could use at the capped level anyway.)

They get nerfed enough to say so, just with the limitations of what stats carry over (or more to the point, *don't* carry over). They don't need a poorly implemented "scaling" on top of it. The above would actually *be* a straightforward linear scaling and thus, ya know, make sense.

Of course, SE is not exactly known for rigorously thought-out and balanced itemization. They just seem to sort of, pick stuff and then look back at it in a year to see how the player base reacted.

What about def on gear, and dmg/delay on weapons?

Also, If the Synced person dies no one gets exp on that mob. Had it happen last night exping on lesser's the sync'ed rng died and that mob gave no exp.

People still die in XP parties?

Can we have *one* topic where someone doesn't say "People still <insert statement>" or "<adjective> <noun> is <adjective>"?

People still don't skillchain or magic burst.

Fuckin' shit is ghey.

<3?

damn you Miruyasha, just, damn you.

some LSmates and myself are going to begin this level sync soon with a member who is 55. It would probably end up being a lv75x3, lv71, and the lv55 syncing together. I'll post up what I find.

<3 you too.

I haven't had an opportunity to try this out for myself. I just think the idea is awesome and fairly intuitive, since it dramatically increases your party options.

Well a friend brought up a valid point earlier, say you have 5 level 75s in a merit pt, and you invite a level 72. You all sync to his level, and instead of meriting on VT colibri, its IT. 72 and 75 isnt that big a diff, if merits are still in affect which im sure they are, then this could be much better.

I haven't read the rest, and if someone posted this already i'm sorry, but an easy way to counter this is to just be able to lvl sync down from lvl 10 to lvl 70 or 69 or what not. A 70 can party with 75's anyday, so there's no real need for that.

Plus, a merit pt with 5x 75's and a 72 gets much better exp/hr elsewhere anyways...

i just used the sync system in the dunes
went from 75>16 pld
armor gave no bonuses, except, oddly enough, my adaman barbuta gave +2 hp, +15 mp

also noted that mobs don't seem to hit as hard as i remember

anyways, i actually like it, i'm sure SE will be tweaking stuff here and there for the next 6 months like they've done to campaign

i think there should be an option for this to be on/off unless there is as I haven't logged in post update

Dont believe so, PT leader selects the person to be leveled to and everyone gets it. As the player you auto delevel to that level. not sure if your at the level and ding tho.

Sorry to say Bro...but Meriting on IT mobs is not better then chaining VTs. Not to mention you'll loose a couple merits, the Bard(if you have one)'s Minuets effect will be lower(Natural lower base skill from being lower level)

No Ni for shadows, loss of hidden effects from weapons such as Maneater, Latent Effects meaning a full time 43 base DMG weapon..

Osode +3STR or +10STR difference is kinda big too for Osode Users such as SAM for WS(maybe?)

The Lvl72 can stick it up and get little lower exp for a better overall EXP gain~ Three level difference isn't a big enough lvl gap(meets the minimum 3 lvl guideline) for max EXP gains/partial.

But loosing 3 lvls just so everyone gets 200 exp per mob since they IT for the sacrifice of 7~or +Haste from Turbans and Haidates is hardly worth the downsizing. :S

Yeah that does makes sense

the attack cap for minuet IV is a fairly low skill level
basically by the time you hit 75 you don't really need to swap in skill for minuet

however march is near impossible for most bards to attain. You need basically all the wind skill + that is available(including gjallahorn)

You still need +12 skill at 75 to cap Minuet, so you'd, rather logically, need more than +12 skill if you're level syncing yourself lower than 75.
