Flameboard Rule interpretation

There seems to be some confusion here.

BBT told us about his brother dying in the flameboard, not in reality sinks in.

Nocturnal Steven (or whatever his name is) has actually posted here before. Well, according to BBT he has anyway. If you go back and read the flame from Passions on BBT, about 3 pages into it, BBT tells us it wasn't him posting under his name or playing his character, that it was his brother. BBT says he was in texas because his mom died (and his brother didn't go with?).

The reason I don't like BBT is because of his posts. It has nothing to do with hopping on a bandwagon. If there is an "I don't like BBT" bandwagon, it has nothing to do with me. He's a liar and says some stupid shit on a regular basis. It is his own fault people treat him like they do.

He brought his real life problems to the flameboard in order to get sympathy from other posters in hopes of appealing to theor better nature. Most of us don't have a better nature. It seems Jamal and a handful of others do. I might have a better nature myself, just not on the flameboard. If he had posted the same shit in Reality Sinks in, he would have gotten a much different response. He was in the flameboard though, a place where your mood was already decided when you clicked the link to view the threads.

It is his own fault and the thread should be undeleted.

I agree tristam... some of the posts in this thread are getting out of line. Either keep the discussion to the FB OP, or don't post. I will lock it if another 'crap' happens.

Abridged~

I understand your point of view and I agree with a lot of it, but some things people just can't give any realistic excuse to ever say. If someone wants to tell the forum that they got badly injured in a car wreck - or worse - possibly have cancer or something, I think it's utterly ridiculous that there's any chance that someone can use that as flame ammo on them and be able to get away with saying "they had it coming" or some garbage.

If they bring it up on the FB of all places, one could at least just shrug it off if they simply don't care, rather than flat-out attack such a weak point.

*edit*
Also, the RSI forum is particularly to discuss points of view in terms of some things happening, primarily revolving around things occurring in real life, both happy and sad. Anyone who thinks that posting there makes them "deserve to have that info used against them" either has no RL problems of their own or simply doesn't discuss their problems with anyone...in which case I'm not sure what to even say to that. I'm not sure if that'd be the greatest blessing or damnation on the planet to go through that.

What I'm most worried about now is precedent. I don't think anyone would argue that what Morwen said was a good thing. Even with low morales most people would at least consider it in poor taste. So what happens now? The post was deleted (it still is right? haven't checked the topic) and as far as we all know, that's it. So to me that basically says we can be absolutely vulgar and disgusting on the flameboard and then the worst that'll happen is that the post will get deleted after people have already read it. That's kind of a weak "punishment" for something like this, and just sets the mood for more people to do something similar without fear of repercussion. Unless a formal warning is given, or the rules are altered to allow RL flaming (no I don't want this, but that's really the only other option here other than enforcing the rule and giving a warning to her), then this incident is going to continue to not sit well with a lot of people.

Moral of the story:

Constantly talk about your tits and you can do whatever the hell you want.

Definitely agree on the precedent thing Rappa. QCDN never forgets and is willing to search for ANY topic that might support their claim. I have seen it in this thread.

Mire... That isn't true, I think its dumb people think it.

"I love him more then anything in the world." -I pity you so much...

And i get rated down, because i love my Hubby!?

i got rated down for posting in this topic, standing up for what i believe in.

this is the reason i don't post here, people like this camping the site waiting for people to post just so they can flamebait you in post or even in pms.

Flamebaiting is being watched closely, one only needs to realize that in the last 2 weeks 30-40 posts in Good Times have been deleted.

I wouldn't worry about it RHLC

I have no reply suitable for this forum at this time.

The comment was in poor taste, but I honestly can't see how it's serious enough to warrant a temp-ban for a one-time thing. Deleting it and having people say "Don't be such an asshole" (which is what this thread is doing in the first place) should be enough for someone stepping over "the line" of community decency for the first time.

Hearing the comment described as a threat against someone's family makes me laugh, though.

Mire... That isn't true, I think its dumb people think it.

Oh? Is that why the "women" who constantly derail threads by talking about their anatomy don't get told to stfu but when a guy does it he gets told "hay you, stop threadcrapping". Seriously, I think it's "dumb" that you can't see it when so many people have (even on this thread) said it is obvious.

I bet for every 5 guys that play MMO, 1 girl does. So if it seems discordant with ban/warning rates - it could be due to lurking variables. Kinkerbelle most certainly got banned, and Meeze probably got the same number of warnings she did.... What about Shaunessy... I think we've banned enough women to assuage that notion.

The fact this is the Board Issues board I'm trying to not moderate things, but if you feel that is an issue, make a new thread about it.

But thats besides the point, I'm not on a witch hunt, I wanted clarification as to why this isn't harassment. The only responses I've gotten is "Because it isn't" and "There's much worse"
As before, I can't answer that. Whether it is or isn't is completely unimportant - I gave this the benefit of the doubt and classified it as harassment, then I did exactly what you would expect to be done by looking at the FB guidelines.

I also did a search last night on the words die/death/kill in the flameboard. The only posts I could find within the last couple of months that were in anyway as serious as this were in jyak's flame about Romper...which was one of the poorest moments this site has seen.
Search is flawed. Example, yesterday I searched for posts under your username with the keyword "war" - zero results, all forums, all dates.

Do I think Morwen should get banned? Sure do. Do I personally give a shit if she does or does not? Nope. However I do feel that the excuse 'it's a flameboard' is not an excuse. No where in the flameboards explanations does it say wishing death on someone and their family is ok. Its supposed to be in-game topics.
Nowhere does it say it isn't ok either. You're demanding action on a rule that doesn't exist. Several people see it as harassment, several don't. What does this create? Gray. What do mods do with gray areas? Discuss and decide per instance. As mentioned above I sided with the torch-and-pitchfork crew and classified this as harassment, deleted the thread as the rules state.

I'll clarify the FB is for in-game and forum-related topics. I'll also clarify that the thread likely will remain soft-deleted since there's so much fluff over this.

Also to add, if Meeze had tits and flirted with people like Allegretto daily on the board, I'm pretty sure he'd still be here.
If meeze flirted on this board (believe me he already has tits), his closest equivalent would be Kink. She was dismissed largely for griefing the mods just as meeze was.

I'm not the only one that feels it wasn't just 'bad taste'
Contrarily I'm not the only one that feels it was just 'bad taste'.

Let's update some rules on the site then. If the RSI board, which people like to use for venting about their problems in life, is to be a breeding ground for flameboard fodder, shouldn't there be some kind of warning on the RSI board saying as such so people know to be careful what they post there?
We've been reviewing the FB rules for a couple weeks, however this case is being judged under the rules that apply to the FB at present and not the future rules we've been discussing.

I don't mind adding a note to RSI stating the obvious as Garvin suggested.

What I'm most worried about now is precedent.
When it comes to the Flameboard all the mods really want to do is ensure QCDN remains alive. This is why we act on personal info. This is why we act on people linking seeds or pirated software. This is why we act on pr0n. That kind of shit might come back to us in some form or another with some very adverse effects.

Do I care that someone was given a harsh suggestion on the Flameboard? As a human being - yes. As an admin of QCDN - no. If it were in another forum, the admin in me would care and act.

That's the precedent I want to set. It's the Flameboard - if your post isn't going to rain hell on us from outsiders, we're likely not touching it. If outsiders do care to get involved, the first thing they'll ask is that we remove the offensive material. Any of the mod staff will gladly co-operate when we know the outsider is legit.

Constantly talk about your tits and you can do whatever the hell you want.
Just like Kink.

edit: man, how often do you get to see the S&F forum have more viewers than the flameboard?

So if I'm reading this correctly, really the only thing that will get someone banned is to annoy/grief the moderators enough? There's no accountability for anything else outside of just banning people that pester you?

Obviously this is a pressing issue that you're blowing off as 'pure flameboard material'
To go back to the Kink issue, Mish brought up a huge point which was overlooked:
-edit-
Actually, if I recall right, the straw that got her banned was her telling someone to die in traffic via a ratedown post she left them, wasn't it? Kindof ironic...

-edit-

Kink was banned for the exact type of thing Morwen(i'm cuter if i put-ny on my name teehee) said. We have precedent. I think its offensive that she make sexual inuendo's at nearly every post, but I just mind my business. Now she's gone too far, and should receive punishment for it

Fly, You're a goddamned human being first, a fucking qcdn admin second. EVERYONE should realize this, they are NOT the people they try to portray ingame. Most user's are out of shape blimps who use the game as an escape from reality. There are numerous INGAME deaths that happen all the time...but that is NOT talking about death in real life not only to the person you hate, but the persons family, the absolute worst most vial thing possible to wish on someone.

Grow a fucking dick and stop being a robot. She fucked up, she gets punished, there is precedent to back it up.

The search function works fine for pulling the correct things, you just need to go forum specific. Try end-game discussion with WAR and Jamal, it'll show plenty of results.

Kink also displayed her banworthy characteristics more than once. She is completely off her rocker. She deserved everything she got. Again, apples vs. oranges.

People are given some grace when they do something tasteless as long as it's not a habit. Everyone here has done or said something dumb as fuck at one point. Everyone.

Telling someone you wish they'd go die is no worse than running out of things to say and just calling someone a jerk. It happens. In this case it was in the FB, a place where swill like this is actually expected.

This thing has nothing to do with tits, unfortunately.

Can we please get over this already, and just realize that these things happen?
So death was wished upon someone...In all likelihood, real actual death was not truly wished. Even if it was, consider the sources for Christ's sake. It's fucking QCDN....LOL! Who fucking cares? But to have a thread that must, must, MUST get the the very bottom of all the specifics and lolprecedents of a comment that was made in the FB of an online forum? Just stop. It's REALLY not that important. Not remotely.

Since you said "We know the guy IRL" I'm assuming you're referring to me since I was in Brooklyn with Meeze and Fly. I was also there when Meeze found out that Fly was the one that dropped the hammer on him. It was actually a pretty funny moment. Fly is one of the coolest people I've met from the game, but this really has nothing to do with the topic. It's neither here nor there.

You're assuming incorrectly, I'm illustrating that Meeze and Fly were friends off the board so much as to associate IRL, and using that to furtherly show that Fly showed no favoritism when Meeze was banned.

I still don't see where I singled out Fly in my post. The only mod name I mentioned was Arc's so he was sure it wasn't just about him. I even pointed out that I understood that the desicions are collective. I know you're sticking up for you buddy though and also your fellow derailment troop that's in question so I'll let this one blow right by.

Give me a break...Fly is quoted in her sig for crying out loud.

You didn't single out Fly, he did.

And mhm.

Also, the impression I got from the OP was that he wanted justification and wanted to know how the decision was made. I'm pretty sure if this was a personal banning attempt the entire thread would be much different.

OP sure, subsequent posts? Naw, jealousy seems to rear its ugly head, or else he would've stayed away from the innuendo.

More than just me think this is more than a cocktease, which is frankly why i think she's 'getting off' easy on this.

Sounds like someone's "coming" off as sounding pissed that someone wasn't flirting with him... x;

Grow a fucking dick and stop being a robot.

This is really how to go about getting what you want.

To you it isn't. To me, and other people, it is. There's a divide between those who say its important, and those who say its not, and both sides feel strongly.

Your wanting to stop the discussion on this is pretty weak.

Sneaky said it better than I could.
