What happened to the Cubswoo method of moderating?

Threadcrapping and Derails - Its not the cool thing to do. When threads go off topic from one flame to another "flame" then thats one thing. When threads go off topic from a flame to a picture posting festival, then threads will be cleaned and or locked. Your PC +1's will be likely taken care of as well. Any "/grabs popcorn" or "hurr hurr, he said the f word" posts will normally be cleared. If a flame can be carried on without skipping a beat after your post has been deleted, then it's probably going to be deleted

*I'll say now, I'm not trying to cause problems, I could have posted this in S&F I guess but it seemed appropriate to go here*

Above is quoted from the "Revised Flameboard Guidelines" stickied at the top of the board. I've bolded the point I'm trying to make, in that "rules" are possibly being too strictly enforced, this thread had not turned into a "picture posting festival" (nor has any that I've seen recently, props to you for that). This thread while it was begining to branch off topic, it was still (in someway <_< ) connected to the OP and IMO relevant.

I'll say again, I'm not trying to cause problems, arguments or "anti-mod campaigns". I simply think there needs to be a more lax approach to moderating this specific board.

The FB is 10x better than 6 months ago, when every thread would devolve into picture spam for a few pages and then be locked so clearly something is being done right, but threads should be allowed to evolve into other topics if that's how they flow.

Just my opinion.

I wouldn't say its things being done right (for example, your Amerie flame getting locked). I would say its because the flames 6 months ago just fucking sucked and had no merit.

You mean doing nothing aside from breaking the rules himself? Yeah, being a "rebel mod" is incredibly helpful to a website.

Rules? The Flameboard had rules?

There is a more lax approach to moderating this board, because i am generally the one to moderate it. Arc doesn't like fussing with the fb, and i don't mind. The thread was beginning to branch off topic and talk about supply, demand, and cyro. If the thread branches in to another flame that's cool, and i wouldn't have touched it. What people were doing though is talking about Imperial Wootz ingots, and why they should/shouldn't be friends with people.

I see your bold, and raise you mine.

20 Threads, 9 locked and 1 deleted. You're doing an awesome job, douche.

I just saw this so it will be covered in a different post. Sue me.

20 threads, 8 locked and 2 deleted, actually. Let's build on that a little bit.

Sanoske/Amerie thread locked because of certain things that went on inside of them.

Dear QCDN locked because there were already 2 threads dealing with the exact same issue.

Dumbnamis flame started getting in to the RL of a poster on these boards.

Duffman flame was resolved.

The deleting flame without explanation was locked because it wasn't the proper place to put that thread. The deleted flame he was talking about deserved to be deleted, if you didn't have the wonderful opportunity to view it.

Bladewind knows why his thread was handled the way it was, and i think everyone has learned from it. God help the next person, because they won't catch anywhere near the same break.

The flame on the LS was resolved.

Last but not least, the thread on LolDynamis was necroed with PC+1, so it was locked.

I still think the posts deleted, at least some of them were relevant to the flame, but obviously it's upto you not me. The Imp.ingots you mention were only an example of bigger point relating to the reason he was banned.

As far as the deleted flame deserving to be deleted, i don't agree at all, but that is a discussion for another time.

Of course, because reducing server loads by taking out completely unnecessary (in any context) "in before"s or "lol (letters)"s is a bad thing.

As has been said before, "holy crap, it all makes perfect sense now!"

The flameboard took care of itself. If someone was being overly stupid and spamming incoherent crap over and over and over, people called them out on it. Now it's a giant circle jerk of pansies too afraid to offend some emo, mental defective incase they get all depressed and down a bottle of sleeping pills just before slitting their wrists.

Horse shit. People who do that still get called out, all that's changed is that they're no longer intimidated by it. It's a new class of moron, if you want to get technical with it.

The rules are simple, and for the most part, people abide entirely by them. The people clearly getting offended are those whose more-than-likely moronic or non-conducive posts are being removed for being

a) outside the bounds of QCDN's ruleset
or
b) completely non-conducive to the thread in any way

Idk, i never had issues with server load times or slow downs until all that shit Nox and Reeves brought with them got put on the forums.

On that note, I couldn't even begin to make a comment because my browsing habits for QCDN and environments I've been in while browsing on it are so varied, I can't get any good metric for comparison lol

Idk why but this quote made me laugh, a lot.

Meh, i shouldn't have said anything, I'm sure this whole conversation will be deleted anyway as it has turned into a derail. I just think there's a happy medium where people can post and talk about what they want (within reason) without it being deleted in a matter of hours because it was slightly off of the original topic.

You act like me going through a thread and deleting every even slightly offtopic post is the norm, which it very much isn't. I was already cleaning up the thread of the 30 some posts about "I'm glad i'm his friend and not his friend" and decided to knock out the whole supply vs. demand on ingots since:

If a flame can be carried on without skipping a beat after your post has been deleted, then it's probably going to be deleted :)

If people want to be afraid to throw insults around, that's their problem for not being clever enough to come up with an insult that doesn't amount to "Kill yourself". If someone commits suicide because of something they read on QCDN, its not going to suddenly make anyone on staff go Sculli and start giving FB access only for not saying please and thanks.

That quote only applies because you deleted a number of posts, I don't seem to be getting my point across very well, so i'll stop trying and post in S&F if i find a better way of putting what i mean into words.
