Gold and Silver remakes are GO

Yea but if you're trading and what not you're "into" the game enough you're going to buy 1 of the 2 versions of every iteration either way. If you have fun, you have fun there's no challenging that. Just saying I look at it as a series that's resting its laurels on its "collectors" hitch and finding no reason to innovate or do anything else that not being profitable with minimum effort would produce. Of course that can be said for Nintendo in general these days.

Just saying, what if Pokemon wasn't bent on releasing the same game a million times with different pokemon? Think of things they could do?

Like a real fleshed out pokemon RPG with high end graphics and a kid-friendly but still good storyline - maybe allowing you to control the pokemon as you launch them in a kingdom hearts-esque design built around previously defined pokemon stats and abilities. Free roaming around 3d environments with enemy trainers and wild pokemon. But why bother with all that effort if people are gonna buy their games no matter what?

The thing about Pokemon is that you'll never see a main iteration of the game on a console for a reason. The entire deal with it is to extend the whole "You are a Pokemon trainer" plot to real life through the use of portables, finding other players so that you play against them in an effort to blur the lines between a virtual hobby and a real hobby. While the thoughts of something like a full console game/MMO set in the Pokemon universe is exciting to people, it really goes against the concept of the product.

I really don't know if I want to get this, I'm very torn.

I played Diamond and finished the story, that was about it. There's so many damn pokemon and I completely missed the third generation so I don't know much about those.

I was the biggest Poke fan out there when I was younger but to go through the adventure for a thousandth time makes my eyes cross for some reason.

Understandable, a remake isn't for everyone, especially if you've already played the game.
It's mostly just banking on those who got into the series after GS and those who'd like to replay the game with updated visuals.

It looks like you get a follower, just like in Pokemon Yellow. I wonder if it'll always be the starter or just the one in the first slot...

I'm thinking it might be the first slot. Because Pika wasn't a starter Pokemon in silver/gold and he's in that screenshot above the video. Unless that's photo shopped or something.

The one in the screenshot looks like its the other guy's pokemon. Your character is the one in the black hat, not the red.

Screw what I said, I'll be getting it and I'll capture all 251 Pokemon on it.

Ah yes I didn't really look at it. In that case where is your pokemon in that screenshot? Unless that screenshot is before they added that feature or something.

Dead. lmao

The problem I have with Pokemon is like it's pinpoint targeted at compulsive collectors to get them to spend ridiculous amounts to buy every version of the game. I liked the original concept but all it is now is a money cow for Nintendo and they keep grinding out the same formula of "exact same game - different pokemon" as often as they can to keep the same core buying. I'm glad I lost interest after beating the original red version and fiddling around with the N64 stadium game.

I'd hardly call four generations in 10 years a "money cow".

Unless you count that Diamond and Pearl are two of the highest selling DS games, and if I'm not mistaken the Gen4 pair added together makes the highest selling DS game to date...

And that isn't because of obsessive collectors, it's because they're amazingly well made games. I somehow doubt the "same core" generated that many millions of sales on the latest games... but with some people there's just no convincing.

Yeah, unless they are buying every single version, (For example Silver, Gold, and Crystal.) you really aren't spending all that much money. And even if you do buy all 3, its still not all that bad. I'm not gonna buy both these remakes and I don't expect everyone to. I'm getting the Silver remake and that's it. But as Tag said, Four Gens in 10 years isn't that bad. I think buying every single Final Fantasy game would be worse.

Poor Ash gets no respect these days. :/
His name is Red, and I will fight you to the death to prove that I'm right.

You're both wrong! It's Satoshi!

Only in the animu <:
