My normal source of income was always mining. I used to be able to mine for an afternoon and get a reasonable sum of gil and not much effort. The amount varied greatly but it was better than most other forms of farming as a white mage. My normal spot had always been gusgen mines after I reached level 36 since I could teleport to dem and warp out quickly to sell my rewards. No need for TH or meleeing, all I needed was mining gear and some pickaxes and didn't need to stop until I could no longer synth or was full of materials.
However, lately the entire zoned is packed with gil sellers botting the mining. Its easy to tell they are. Everyone of them is level 50-51, the minimum level to safely mine the entire zone without agro, rank 1 and a majority of them are DRG (don't understand why they all chose DRG). To prove they bot, walk in front of them with a few mobs and they will tab through them constantly (a good sign of a bot). I have contacted the help desk in search of a GM endlessly. Unlike many other people who have tried, they refuse to investigate it any further. A simple auto response is all I get even after demanding a GM. I think SE's new policy about bots is to ignore it until people give up reporting them.
So I have come to the only solution to removing the problem. MPK the lot of them. Many of you might think this is wrong, but I find no fault in it. Botting like this is illegal and unfair. Its not like a bot fisher who only profits himself. They are taking away legitimate mining points which are finite and a source of income from many players who actually take the effort to farm. Instead they are forced to some other form of farming with no chance to compete. A bot of such kind is impossible to compete against and the only solution is to go somewhere else, but I propose otherwise. I have tried mining elsewhere but nowhere else is as profitable or worthwhile without the risk of death.
Now I ask people to MPK these sellers and take back what doesn't belong to them. Its very simple to do solo and better with a group of two, preferably mages. All that is needed is to bind a single mob on top of the sellers. This can be slow and possibly ineffective. A superior method is with another partner. One person brings a large group of linking mobs (funguars work very well) and stand next to the miner, then escape. The second person who is not partied with you will cast bind on one mob just after the first person escapes. All the hate will be transfered to the miner because the bound mob will attack the closest target and they will link attacking the same person. Then the second person must escape before bind wears. This method does not work as well solo.
This post is not here to discuss the moral implecations of MPKing or whether gil sellers have the right to play the game. MPKing someone requires they are an actual person and as far as I am concerned they are bots. This post is here to get others who will do something about them. MPK and they will get figure it out, that they are not welcome and we want them gone. As for posting this here, I know the responses will vary. Some denouncing MPK and others agreeing. I do not care much really. Heck, even if you don't care about the problems, I offer some a fun source of MPK that many would have no real moral dilemas with. Take it as you wish, but if you walk through Gusgen Mines and see a dead miner, don't raise it.
