Movie harry potter and the half blood prince trailer

After seeing how horrible 5 was I think I will make my judgment without seeing it.

If having an ignorant opinion floats your boat, then so be it.

I'm gonna watch it later tonight, will post my thoughts then.

Going to see this tomorrow. I haven't seen Goblet of fire or Order of the phoneix yet tho! But my friends let me borrow them.

Harry Potter night tonight lol.

Went and saw this last night. Thought it was great!! Obviously they have to tweak some things from the book, so I've gone with the attitude of enjoying the movie, instead of nitpicking the differences from the books. I can see where it's disappointing some of the key scenes were left out, but all in all I think it was done really well and I loved it. =)

I am sorry massa. Let me ask you what my opinion should be.

So because my opinion differs from yours it has to be ignorant? Are you really that fucking full you yourself? Are you really that fucking numb?

Oh baldy, wherever does your tyraids end? <3

He was more or less saying that he feels your opinion of the movie will be an ignorant one because you don't want to go see it. Although from a nitpicky "i want all from the book" point of view, your judgement would have to be right.

I don't care if they leave stuff from the book out. I care that they leave major plot points like the funeral out or completely change things like Cho telling on Dumbledore's Army.

You don't have to change the story to retell the book in movie format. Shorten it all you want but don't change things completely.

I hear ya, luckily for me, I've never read these books. The series I was always really into was the Sword of Truth books... and the CW completely gang banged everything. There are so many made up characters and events, and so much shit that never happens that is supposed to happen, and so many people are look a thousand times different then they should... I watched it for about a month before I almost shot my tv. I fucking hate CW.

The funeral itself wasn't important to the story, you know Dumbeldore is dead already, so the funeral doesn't reveal anything new on that front; the few important tidbits can easily be recapped in the beginning of Deathly Hallows since they won't be so pressed for time. It's a good movie moment, but it's not crucial to the plot. Cho was an incredibly minor character that never appears again; condensing the plot and just having her betray them worked fine. If she actually mattered it'd be one thing, but seeing as how see never shows up again(except maybe in passing) in the rest of the books, the movie changing her exit from the series is very minor.

You're nitpicking over pretty minor points in the movies made purely for the sake of time; so you're far less likely to actually enjoy the movie when you're already biased against it. That's what Tyrath was going for.

I'm going to go see it, and I'm sure I will enjoy it like I've enjoyed every other Harry Potter movie.

No its ignorant because you're making a judgment without seeing it. I'll consider that an ignorant opinion no matter what the subject is. Your opinion doesn't differ from mine because I don't have one about the movie like I said, I'm seeing it tonight.

Cho actually does reappear along with the rest of Dumbledore's Army at the end of 7 for the big fight. She is also accepted back kind of warmly. I just don't see how she can be accepted back so easily after betraying everyone.

Dumbledore being buried with the wand which is one of the 3 items for the Deathly Hallows.

I already know I wouldn't enjoy the movie. I went to see 5 of them all with an open mind. Being let down each time so yeah I think after 5 let downs I think I am right in my opinion.

Of course you are gonna be let down. Thats why books to movies have to be criticized in a different light.

700+ page books condensed into a 2 hour film. Seriously, if you wanted every piece of the book in the movie, we'd have 14 movies. None of the movies left out any major plot holes. Yes Order of Phoenix, probably the worst of the 5 films still managed to tell the story on the most part. Cho being the one to tell on Harry? So, that wasn't that major at all. She had one little scene in the 7th book.

The movies are great because the actors are great, awesome cinematography, and for the most tell the whole story.

On the subject of Dumbledore, I'm sure they'll cover the wand being in the coffin in the "Deathly Hollows". Two, the funeral while sad, was a very short part of the book. I agree, I would have loved to see the funeral, because Dumbledore was an awesome character and it would have felt right giving him what he deserves, but that one scene left out shouldn't taint the whole film.

Funny how everyone loved Lord of the Rings for it's awesomely close adaptation of the books. Guess those people didn't read the whole book, because they were far off on most of it as well, except the main plot. Lines that Gandalf would say in the book were given to other characters, same for Aragorn. Scenes were ass backwards and tons was left out..yet it was a great MOVIE.

Movies will always be different.

Now, if you just hate the movies because you think they're directed terribly, have horrible special effects, and think the casting call was horrible, well then I can't argue with you at all, because that is just your opinion.

I will say from a straight movie standpoint they would probably be considered good to me. The problem is I was looking for an adaptation of the book. I was let down. I only brought up a couple of changes I could definitely point out way more if I wanted. How about Kreacher betraying Sirius?

I didn't go into Lord of the Rings with high expectations because I actually didn't see those until after I had seen 3 of the Potter movies.

That's not even close to an important role, and it's one they can easily recreate in the 7th movie; they're big on forgiveness and Umbridge already told them she used the truth serum on her so there's no reason to actually hate Cho at this point.

Dumbledore being buried with the wand which is one of the 3 items for the Deathly Hallows.
Which was completely unimportant until the 7th book when you find out it's one of the Hallows. That's also information that doesn't require a funeral to impart to the viewer, so again, the funeral wasn't important other than just cinematography.

You have wildly unreasonable expectations for the movies. The Harry Potter adaptations are easily some of the best book-movie works ever made; because they successfully took out unimportant aspects while not changing the overall plot or the feel of the novels. You're nit picking because they're not perfect recreations when that'd take a 5 hour movie for the early books, more like a 10 hour movie for deathly hallows. If you want a real bastardization of the source material, look at the Bourne Series.

I would say a send off to a very huge and important character in the story is a very important thing to the plot. It is also the point in which Harry decides to not come back to Hogwarts for the final year.

I would rather have them be 5 hour movies. 5 was the longest book and it didn't get 2 movies but book 7 does?

Probably because 7 has more important plot points than 5 did.

Okay while you people argue semantics that don't matter, I'll go ahead and state that I really loved this movie and thought it was one of the best ones yet. All of the students gave really great performances this time around and the balance between seriousness and humor was done well. The whole "underground scene" (intentionally vague for spoilers or whatever) near the end of the movie was particularly cool. I was worried how it would look on-screen and it came out beautifully.

I liked it. I haven't read the book since it first came out, but I couldn't help feeling large chunks of story were probably being left out; on the positive side, I couldn't remember what any of them might've been. I'll have to go back and read them before Deathly Hollows, I guess.

I bet those were a lot of easy paychecks. The guy that plays Neville only had to turn up for a day's work, looks like. "We just need you in here long enough to remind people you exist. Thanks."

I also appreciated that they didn't waste time getting new people up to speed. If you haven't been following the story up to that point, you were probably lost.

Just watched it not long ago today. Pretty good movie. Yeah some stuff was left out that I kinda wanted to see make it in the movie but it's pretty forgivable. I did not care for Harry Potter 3 and 5 that much. Those two seemed like a rush job to me and they took their time with this one. Looking forward to Deathly Hollows.

Whoa, I was scared there for a moment because of the discussion. But I see now it's ok to go see it because it's a good movie.

The movie was great. I'm a crazy Harry Potter fan, and haven't always been happy with what they've done with the movies(*Cough* Azkaban).. But it was great. I was extremely impressed. I hope that the funeral scene was left out because there will be so much dumbledore in the last 2 movies.
