Critical Hit+% all ready works like that. It's unique to the weapon, not yourself. However, "Enhances Critical Hit Rate" affects everything you do thats melee. But no, halving the stats would just make it a useless option. Ninja, Warrior, and Thief don't get the stats on thier weapons halved when dual wielding.
Thats why I was talking about the future, not now. While MNK is still the top melee damage dealer, the gap is closing fast. Every update, not much is added to us. The new merits are the biggest thing since Black Belt, and that was a long time ago, yet more and more weapons are added every couple of months for the other jobs. Playing monk, you just don't care about updates, cause you know nothings going to affect you.
Stats aren't halved on daggers, swords, etc. because it's a single weapon whereas a single Hand-to-hand weapon is two weapons combined for each hand. But all that aside, you act as if MNK is coming close to being dethroned as a top tier DD. I can agree, monk are getting screwed when it comes to JSE since there literally is none for the end game MNK; however, that doesn't matter. A large portion of MNK's greatness comes from thier own job over their gear selection or at least at this time. A MNK gets the martial arts job trait which reduces base delay of hand-to-hand weapons from 480 to 300 (~31% reduction with 100 delay added by weapon, ~20% if you consider that monk gets MA at level 1), kick attacks II, and probably one of the best 2 hours in game along with some very good job abilities. Stack that with a warrior sub and they have the best job abilities available in the entire game for any melee.
Comparatively speaking, all other melee have access to two choices in delay reducing gear/abilities, haste gear or dual wield. Dual wield requires NIN sub and has no other damage boosting stat beyond that. DW gets 15% delay reduction while subbing NIN and Suppanomimi gives an extra 5% reduction (20% total) or NIN main gets 30% reduction and another 15% in gear (AF body, relic legs and Suppa.; 45% total) compared to the ~20-31% given by a monk without using a gear slot to get that much. Although NIN is noticeably more, they also don't hit as hard as a MNK and are usually required to cast debuffs and tank. Haste gear is good for all jobs, but monk gets the best selection of +haste gear (BB>all) available. With the addition of the new merits, MNK seem to only be getting better in the DD department (Formless Strike) and still have a good place in end game (Chi Blast+Penance). As a warrior, I can keep pace with a MNK even considering my gear has better options for +att and STR compared to a MNK with very few exceptions (O.Kote). I seriously doubt anyone can possibly believe MNK is going to become lower tier DD anytime soon. Although, I do agree MNK is getting shafted when it comes to JSE, but they aren't the only job lacking in JSE (RNG doesn't have any and DRG does, but it sucks something terrible).

Thumbed through the previous posts and didn't see it mentioned...
1. I'd like customizable equipment. Basically where certain quests/crafting could randomly "enhance" existing armors or something that could make them unique stat and displaywise. It's boring seeing everybody in the same gear over and over.
2. Haircuts and/or 1 time race change quest... I've been stuck with an Elvaan for over 2 yrs. At least let me change my hair!@#!!
3. More rewarding solo content like Maat fight.
Most of rewarding gear comes from endgame, and it has become rather repeative. Yes I know there are a few major strategy differences, but it's more or less the same.
Make it hard and make it rewarding. That Goblin/automaton fight is not up to snuff.
More solo contect would be great especially with good rewards.
I like the idea of being able to chance my character's physical appearance beyond just gear options (<3 dats), but making them semi-permanent too so people have to live with the choices. I don't like the idea of race change either as it messes with the game too much. You have someone who is maybe a taru BLM and top damage in the game and they suddenly find they are bored with being BLM so they become an elvaan WAR. Somehow that just doesn't seem right to me unless they plan on leveling a new character.
The Automaton Assault fight is fun, but the rewards are usually mediocre at best. Only a couple of the options are worth getting and even then, you can purchase a similar item that is possibly better on AH. A BC fight like the ENMs that are actually difficult and getting rewards making them worth doing seems like a good idea. I like the idea of making fights that are extremely difficult (KS99 on steroids:bb

, have a time limit to how often you can enter and rewards that making the BC worth entering to begin with.
I just want some form of gear that I can obtain as a single player or possibly with a small party that is considered the elite piece of gear and yet not everyone can and will get it because of the difficulty. I want the method something preferrably similar to an ENM where I and everyone else has the chance to do try compared to a NM where not everyone can claim, spawns are limited and the same zerg methods always win. The BC should be so difficult that only a few players will ever be able to obtain it and when people see them wearring it, they know they are elite. Sick of the elite player mentality thinking they are any more skilled than someone without the gear because they may have had better options, started playing earlier and have far more time invested in the game and not necessarily any real skill. I want that elite status to actually mean something beyond, "I play 60 hours a week". Not an attack on those with elite gear, but if any idiot who spends enough time can obtain any end game gear, it's not really elite anymore, now is it? And to make it so those people with elite gear already don't have advantages over others, the BC force equips you with a preset gear selection or you fight "naked" so it's all about skill and not about gear.
