I think you are refering to the Fungus Hat? The EXTREMELY overrpriced hat that drops of the NM in La Thien Plateau?

Well he better not be talking about Spelunkers Hat, cause that thing just spells bad ass.

How about something simple.....

Allow us to see those "hidden" stats like maybe acc, racc, ratt, and such?

This could be filtered from the equipment menu because of the so many other stats that you don't need for your job ie how much MAB a thf has from INT

Cause then we couldnt have lame arguments like:

ZOMG, EXKALIBUR GIVZ U INVINSIBILITTY AND REGEN!

How about a sound effect when you get a /tell. I hate missing invites because im afk for a few min while seeking.

There is a way to do that on ffxi assit2 lol

Also why not make it so you can not net work traffic mobs -_-

i would make the check system correct so if i were to examine a mob the would say easy prey or decent challange it would actually be easy prey or decent challange

That would be nice but how would you base the system around?

I personally would base it around character stats rather than level.

A decent challange Dancing Weapon to a DRK isnt going to be the same decent challange to a WHM.

I would base it on how your STR, DEF,VIT etc. compares to the mobs.

If your stats are both close, then Decent Challange ~ Even Match.

If you highly out class them, Too Weak ~ Easy Prey.

that would alos remove cannon partys then as a DRK would make a VT puk look EP etc and you have to find strong mobs
and what if 1 DRK has +50str and other has +20 STR a T for the +50 might be a IT for the 20 and would not work out totaly right

I think the system works pefrectly. You have to remember than you're basing it off party job combinations and equipment, which enhance your jobs talents while widely opening up the flaws. Without Ninja sub, I can solo an EM, but it's going to take everything I have to do it, without needing Hundred Fists. And it'll be damned close depending on the mob. Granted, some mobs are unsoloable like that, such as Malboros and other hard hitting, nasty TP move mobs.

Really, it's a level vs. level check. Thats all it needs to be. Properly equipped, a White Mage could solo an Even Match, even though it would take a while. It's not impossible to do so, it's just unlikely if you're going in to the fight with your character set up for partying.

Well it seems to be that the lvl base of mobs in the game are wrong and thats what the lvl check system is based on ok hear is an example
<75sam>(me) hello
<75demon>O.o you talking to me
-demon is even match-
<75sam>yeah i thnk i can beat you with enhancements since you are a even match
<75demon>are you autistic you scan too weak to me
<75sam>Ok lets see
(3 hits later)
-75sam is defeated by 75demon-
<75sam>what happened?
<75demon>hehe sucker

to better explain it "seems"(lol) that mobs are far beyond the lvls they give off as if they all have FULL merits or somthing, that goes the same for mobs that read easy prey with high defence and evasion, it should matter about the def or eva its easy prey yet it still kills you with ease

it would be cool if in check it showed low attack or/and accuracy o.O and give sams sheathes like i said a while ago in this thread

Well, Skaw did mention mobs that hit abnormally hard and/or fast.

But think logically.

Are you using your EXP setup for that demon solo?

If you're attempting an EM solo, you shouldn't sub [insert random melee DD sub here] and even /WAR is questionable.

/WHM, /RDM, /PLD, or /NIN would be better ideas.

Also, most exp gear sets for melee have very poor defense.

Offensive stat boosts would be a little less important for fighting something EM, so logically a more defensive build would be more appropriate (mobs' weapon DMG: ratings are significantly higher than ours), with a more defensive subjob as previously mentioned.

Switch the Hauby for a SH or similar gear that has good defense and solid stat boosts.

Switch the Snipers or STR rings for VIT rings.

Etc.

It's entirely doable but usually takes your entire HP (and/or MP) bars for one mob.

lol....exp based on the body frame size you chose during character creation....

Why, hello there new type of party filtering. Whats that? "Small Frames Onry?"

EMBRACE THE POWER OF THE TARU.

Yea, the 'check' system works good. Its just that alot of ppl make the mistake of thinking that since their lvl 75 and the mob is lvl 70 that would mean the mob's stats are worse. Stats are not based on lvl's per say. Stats raise at a certain constant rate per lvl depending on your race, and even then, your base stats you start off with can be hugely different to any mob. And not just stats either....some mobs have an insane amount of HP and dont even get me started on how large their MP pool is.

Now, if I were a designer for SE, I would not let anything go out of date. I wouldnt say "Oh, you guys are bored with Dynamis and want a new challenge? Alright, we'll put Dynamis in a box and leave it in the attic and give you a new toy called <random end game activity i.e. 'Sea'>"

Instead, I would not only give the players that new toy, but also keep old things like Dynamis up to date with the rest of the game. FFXI is ALOT different then it used to be back when Dynamis was first implimented. But, i'm not talking about just Dynamis, I'm talking about any of the old stuff in the game. Alot more stuff should get updated to be able to stick with the times.

Its almost like ToAU is that brand new nice house equiped with the latest and greatest, and some of the old stuff in the original content of the game is like your old great aunt's house who is stuck in the 70s and her house surely shows this. Everything smelling like mothballs and on the coffee table are a bowl of candy corn that have been sitting there for god knows how long and its not even close to Halloween.
