This makes perfect sense to me. Then again, i prefer things to make sense.... thats why i am so angry when i walk into a store, and the NPC's are there, only to tell me "Today is our holiday" WELL WHY ARE YOU HERE IN THE STORE!!!
That is one of my biggest pet peeves.
RNG STOP BITCHING!!! In every other incarnation of a ranger, there is a penalty for shooting up close, because well, you cannot simply draw a bow point blank and expect it to be very powerful. I expect if more testing is done, this won't be *that* big of a deal, and you're overreacting to a lot. I play RNG as my secondary job, it's only 37 at the moment, but from the way I play RNG, which is farther back and not on the mob's ass, it won't affect me much.
Makes sense with Bows, but what about Guns? I'd expect them to be better from close than far (Old style guns were horrible from range, because the bullets were not uniformed in shape)

It's kind of hard to talk about realism when you have little impossibly cute midgets casting huge fireballs at skeletons.

Not everything is related to "whiney" people. I highly doubt that S-E was buried under complaints about ninjas not losing hate when they lost their shadows. S-E just tries to keep the balance in the game as best as they can (and you would have to be some kind of superhero to find a way to balance the game that didn't piss SOMEBODY off). They saw what they thought was an imbalance and this was their solution to fix it.
On a more interesting note, has anyone noticed the lack of crying from the ninjas? I checked Allakhazam's ninja forums and most of them said that by just putting a little more effort into hate control that they can still control hate just fine. Maybe the rngs need to quit complaining and get to work on figuring out how to "counter" the "nerf".

Rappa 4tw.
Seriously, stop blaming Melee's for "bitching". Show me some historical posts from this website about how overpowered rangers are. I dare you to find anything more than the joke about how if you can't beat it, throw more rangers at it.

thats not the problem (tho in places like Kuftal tunnel {terrigan zone} or garliage basement, there isnt alot of room to stand back)
the problem lies in the WS. RNG can no longer Open a SC with a thief, because we either cant turn it, or we stand back to turn it, and it runs all over the place.
