Lets talk about insomnia.

He claims he occasionally gets "backed up" since we have sex like rarely (doctor recommendations) and this helps him relax.

Your doctor is a liar and a quack. Have your boyfriend kick him square in the crotch next visit, then take him home and let him lay some rail.

***And before anyone else decides to be like OMGWTF, I'm only teasing. BTW I think it is sad I have to add this disclaimer to my posts now.***

Hypnosis?

I did the research project back in high school about sleep disorders, including insomnia, and I found something kinda cool. It's like self-hypnosis. Works 100% of the time for me... usually I don't even get all the way through.

Before you start, make sure all distractions are out of the way... any light is off, anything that makes noise has been silenced, that sort of thing.

First, you lie down in the yoga position "The Corpse," I think it's called that anyway, where you're on your back with your arms at your sides and your legs straight. Make sure you're comfortable.

Then, stare really hard at any arbitrary point on the ceiling... I use a small yet visible scratch in the ceiling. It's important that, while you can blink, not to close your eyes or look away from that spot. Don't fight your eyes closing, as they'll drift closed on their own time.

Next, start breathing. Breath in through the nose for a count of 8, and out the mouth for a count of 8. Concentrate on the numbers, the breathing. This will help clear your mind and lower your heart rate (This is where I usually pass out ^^).

Now, while still breathing / counting, focus on relaxing every part of your body moving up from the feet, so feet, then lower legs, then upper, etc., until you've completely relaxed your body.

Once relaxed, imagine that you're somewhere really relaxing, like a deserted island or some other really tranquil place. Anywhere peaceful place will do, just so long as you're able to visualize it. My mind is usually pretty focused by now, what with the breathing, so I can imagine some cool stuff. Anyway, keep the breathing rhythm going as you do this... your mind should be on nothing but whatever scene you visualized and the slow, steady breathing.

So yeah. The key to this technique is patience. It's meant to be taken at a leisurely pace, so take your time. This probably won't work for everyone, but I've gotten nothing but awesome, hard sleep doing this. Good for before any events where you need to be rested, i.e exams, whatever. Beats drugging yourself, anyway.

Your doctor told you to have sex less? What condition causes this? I need to take every precaution against that. lol

Problem is still existing, tried everything everyong suggested, i think i am going to get some RX drugs for this.

I have been awake for 40 hours straight now and am awake as ever.

I'm awake too, slept for about an hour yesterday even though that was more like me laying in bed, pretending to sleep.

Heh, I have done that before. I have tried convincing my mind by staying dormant for so long that I really did get sleep when I didn't. So far it hasn't worked lol

/sigh

So now I get to be the insomniac. In the past 5 days I have a collective 1 hour of sleep. It's so weird. If I am up playing a video game on my PC or browsing online or even just hanging out I feel so tired and start to nod off. When I actually go to lie down to fall asleep, I am wide awake.

Kel and Lanien, maybe you two just need to let go and cry on each others shoulders...

Sorry I just watched Fight Club for the first time <,<

Or maybe we just need to get into a fight...

A teacher of mine told me that resting in bed for 8 hours is almost as good as sleeping for 8 hours.

It's better than nothing I'm sure, but you need the REM & NREM phases of sleep to be really "rested."

I know when I finally get a good night's sleep I feel a lot better and I'm more able to do things I like to do. My insomnia is getting pretty bad still though, I finally slept for a few hours after being up for nearly three days.
