Man bursts into flames after Taser shock

I'm not saying trying to stop him was a bad idea... but tazering 5 times, not checking for a pulse when he stopped moving and only administering CPR after 15 minutes of him being non-responsive...

Saying "what if" just doesn't fly. You do not know that the man wouldn't have acted differently "if" there was a child in the immediate area.

Child or adult it honestly doesn't matter, he was acting in a violent manner, throwing chairs/monitors can end up with very serious injuries and even death, the fact that he was tazed 5 times sucks ya, but you gotta think before you act like a little bitch and throw a tempur tantrum.

That doesn't make sense to me. You have to think before you act like a bitch? Yes. But you shouldn't have to worry about being killed. Yes, the cops didn't know that it would result in death, but I'm pretty sure if they had actually tried to calm him down or hell, even only tazed him once or twice, he would have been placated.
The third and fourth ones were at the same time

If it was "ok" for the cops to react the way they did, there wouldn't have been a massive trial and investigation lasting almost 2 years.

An RCMP spokesman, Sgt. Pierre Lemaitre, was heavily criticized for providing a false version of events prior to the public release of the video. He stated that Dziekański "continued to throw things around and yell and scream", after the arrival of the police officers, which was later revealed by the video to be false.

Lying as a cop also doesn't help your case.

"you shouldn't have to worry about being killed" Sure you do. If you're endangering other lives, (throwing montiors etc) you have every reason to believe your own is in danger. That being said, the cops didn't taser him with the intent to kill. Isn't that why tasers are there? To offer an alternative to their guns? Granted tasers are used when other times their gun wouldn't be, but over all it's for the greater protection of the officers and public.

I pretty much agree with Trist and that cops are too tazer happy in too many situations. I think the man deserved to be talked to for more than 24 seconds before being tased 5 times by cops because there was no translator to actually calm the man down. You think he deserved to die because he was scared and frustrated? Good for you. I'm glad you think every situation where a person is tasered is justifiable.

I can't lie, you make me laugh. Did I ever say he deserved to die because he was 'scared and frustrated'? Nope. Nor did I imply it. He was only 'scared and frustrated' through most of his own actions. His mother had no flight number or any of his information. No one can be blamed for her leaving but himself and his mother. He was only scared after he started throwing items around which if he seemed to think was an acceptable answer, that makes me laugh too. He wasn't a random innocent victim, he caused the actions brought against him.

It's unfortunate that he died, and I can't say that 5 tasers were, or were not necessary I wasn't there. But this one case of an unfortunate accident certainly doesn't turn me against them.

The implication was there because you're arguing that what the cops did was justifiable based on how he was acting.

He began to convulse and was tasered several more times after falling to the ground, where the four officers pinned, handcuffed and continued to taser him.

Tasering him after he's already on the ground convulsing. Yes, that is totally justifiable...

Just because I don't think the cops were wrong for tasering him, doesn't mean I believe the man should have died.

But you're saying their actions of tasering him numerous times were justifiable. He was handcuffed on the floor with 4 cops pinning him, where does it make sense to continue to taser him? I'm saying that tasering is justifiable in certain circumstances, but they went overboard.

Really now? Don't argue just for the sake of arguing. lol
Do I think tasers are a good thing? Sure do.
Do I think they can be misused? Sure do.
Just the same as any other weapon or power, it's only as appropriate or inappropriate as the person wielding it.

Don't call the pot black by saying that I'm arguing for the sake of arguing.

Technically anything can be given that description, cops are trusted to act appropriately at all times because they have been given this power.

Aren't citizens and those entering the country expected to act appropriately at all times as well? If they tasered him once and he died you'd still argue in his favor I bet.
No matter what happens, if someone dies as a result of police a bunch of people are going to get their panties in a bunch and get pissed about it. 5 times was overkill, but even so it was his fault.

Here's my train of fault.
Him>His Mother>Gasoline>Gas Cans>Gas Pumps>Fire Being Hot>The Police Themselves>Police Training>The Taser.

He fucked up! His Mother fucked up! Gas is too dangerous! Gas Pumps give us Gas! Gas Cans make Gas readily available to retards! Fire is too damn hot and needs to cool off! Police overreacting due to the MEDIA sensationalizing EVERYTHING! Police training apparently sucks balls because you don't know when too much is too much! Tasers shouldn't use electricity and should use flowers and sunshine to detain dangerous individuals at airports!

And I'm sorry I made an ass out of u and me.

lol.

I agree with tasing a dude running at you covered in gas with a lighter. I partially agree with tasing a dude who is freaking out in an airport, (due to how high security in airports is and past instances). I don't agree with going overboard and tasing a guy that is already incapacitated. That situation was negligent.

I agree that it was overboard, but the first one or two (how ever many till he was on the ground) were deserved, and if he continued running his mouth/struggling then the others were justified, if not, and it was all pure convulsions then no 5 wasn't necessary. He knew he was going to Canada, and he should know that they speak English/French. He really should have taken the time to learn some of both languages to help prevent situations like this.

He'd still be alive, and the cops wouldn't be in their deep shit either. It's purely a case of willfull ignorance, and as I stated earlier, and which you agreed, ignorance is not and never will be a case for innocence.

Actually, coming to Vancouver... it would have been easier to learn English/Mandarin/Cantonese lol. The trial had stated that he was on the floor after 2 tasers because the first one didn't have an effect (they assumed it hit his clothing) and any after the two are when he was already down. This was caught on tape by an observer and they tried to gain possession of the tape so it wouldn't get leaked but the judge ordered them to give it back to the owner.

Yea if he hadn't freaked out, he would never have gotten tased in the first place but still... 5, ouch.

Electroshock Therapy is now being offered by the Canadian Government to anyone suspected of being insane for the insane low price of free.
