Merit Parties

I'm saying if you take away their fast damage, then the jobs will become trash, and of little use for anything in game.

if you take away ballad to bard, then they will not use.
If you take away the high defence from pld they will be no use

I don't see your point!!

All job have one good thing, if you take it away they are all no use

Rdm refresh
bard ballad
pld defence
thief Sata
nin utsu
sam meditate
blm nerf nuke magic
etc

no need to do all. What you say has just no point at all!

So what monk war and nin attack fast, bah that's our advantages.

Which some people would like to see changed in the name of "balance." Stouter isn't one of them. He's on your side basically.

yeah sure we should make every melee jobs as weak as bard in melee
then give pld auto refresh +3/tic
then give more nuke power to blm
Refresh 2 to rdm
Balad 3 to bard

and why not just kill monk war and nin job and let 5 jobs in game?

pld
whm
rdm
blm
bard

that would be fun, this get so much on my nerves!!!! put aside the merit part what does melee job get at endgame ? we can't deal any dmg to gods in meleing! In bcnm or ksnm all mages jobs has a lot more advantages than the others. Ok maybe we should forbid the Hand to hand job and make staff the only thing that a monk can use!!

Come on try to have fun with your jobs before trying to nerf other people jobs! we already have been nerfed with TP, that's enough!!!!

Please stop saying WHM gets invites to merits. I dozed off (oops ><_ at my desk while LFP recently and woke up with ZERO INVITES. Sorry but this is retarded. Anyone who complains Rdm > Whm should be decked. I seriously wish I'd touched Rdm more, I don't log in to count tiles as the best healing job in the game. :/ (and don't say "build a pt" because you can't always do so)

sarion #1 im all ways up to merting with you
#2 whm>rdm when i cannon
#3 RDM is more useful in X places then WHM ie in a 4 nin cannon party what roams lol as BRD has a hard time keeping ballad 1 and 2 up usally i only do 2

I don't get the part about the H2H and Staff...Smn actually use staff during solo or farming making it monk only would be sorta wasted since mnk is better with H2H.

The only job with decent h2h is war which is b or B+ so...huh?!

If you want to nerf a job with dw then go about nerfing Club skill or just take away the second tier of DW and Ni utsu.

It probrably went over my head but you were being sarcastic? *slow*

1. I was sarcastic

2 if you want to put away utsu Ni as sub job, go for it, I just want SE to give me 1million when they do it. 500k for the scroll, and 500k for the lvling ninja to 37 + the time it took me!! Because I lvled Ninja to 37 only for that.

The part people are pissed about isn't the "balance" or lack of, but that they have no place. Yah, it's great SAM excels at getting TP, DRGs excel at... (I don't honestly know what they excel at), PLDs excel in defense and so on and so forth. But none of that really matters. It's not that MNK and WAR excel at just one thing, but all things in experience. You'd think that being limited to only (only maybe 1-2 exceptions) blunt damage weapons would slow down MNK damage, but no. They hit so often and so frickin fast, they'd excel in damage even if they have gimpy gear and not just on any particular mobs, but all mobs. WAR, same thing. The other jobs just don't have a good enough niche to be considered for anything. What good does getting fast TP to make a SC if all the other melee just spam WS with no thought of a SC? What good is piercing damage bonus if other jobs can still do more damage without the bonus in a single round AND hit faster? Its pointless to make all the jobs the same, but if only 2-3 jobs are considered the strongest, it's still the same as having all the jobs the same. You may have the option to play the other jobs and they are different, but if no one invites you to do anything with it, then there's no point to being a job you can't play.

This may be true at lvl 73-75 for merit but before that monk is really not a jb with a lot of invites! I know it seems now that monk is consider as a good job but I can tell you when i lvled from 30-72 I had to make all my partys or I wouldn't have gotten one invite.
Monk can't distortion before lvl 61
monk can't tank anything
Monk should not have utsu sub..

So ok now at lvl 75 we can have invite but before that, it was really as bad as sam drg or any melee job!

the problem are not the jobs but the party makers, they always try to have the perfect setup wich does not include some jobs. blame them. And sorry to say that to some people but make your party if you want XP!! I am sure that's what does all monk and drg and sam!

Yar. Having a 'desirable' job certainly gives you the comfort of not having to worry about forming your own pty most of the time.

Although, I dont mind forming my own pty most of the time, just cause I like being in control of who is in my pty, which usually ends up netting some very tasty EXP. Fortunatly, ToAU is godsend to DRGs. I do so much dmg I never knew I was capable of in Caedarva Mire that its flat out ridiculous. Before, what kept me awesome was my DoT which has always rocked with the /WAR sub. But now, thanks to ToAU, my spike dmg has been taken to the next lvl. Now, I'm kicking ass in DoT AND spike dmg.

I never thought I'd see the day when my Penta would do a consistant 500 - 800 consistant solid dmg, and peak at around 1,200 on VTs.

But to remain on topic, if your not a 'bandwagon' DD, you most DEFINATLY should get good at forming ptys. It will help so much in the long run.

DRGs excel at what people invite warriors for. T-VT spamming. However, they do not get delay reduction or access to as much haste gear. Their dragon also gets flitted away as inconsequential in the DoT argument for some reason.

DRG may have also been designed as the game's first melee supporter or tertiary tank. Look at all the vitality gear. It horribly failed though, and to this day drgs pay for the "extra roles" that the developers failed to successfully implement. Just as thief pays dearly in the melee department for the "job bonuses" that is TH, gilfinder, and steal, dragoons still pay for the failed bonuses that they were given. When you're a meleer who is seen as a poor fighter, nothing else truly matters.

Think of each job as having a limited asset pool with which to build a balanced job. Then think of certain jobs having their pool largely wasted by junk assets like gilfinder and wyvern breath. In the end, if you're a meleer, only meleeing matters to this population base. Corsair and blue mage might be what dragoon and thief failed to become.

Why should I blame party leaders? For wanting the best exp possible? I want the best exp possible so I don't see why anyone would be different. I blame SE for not making things a little even.

I am sure 30-72 sucked for you as a monk. It was probably slow as hell getting those invites, but once you hit 75, everything changes. Now you are the king among DDs. But what about everyone else? DRG? They get spat on 1-75 and there is no reward for any of them waiting at 75 or any other level. THF? Can wait days on end to get parties in the mid 50's and that's before any DD can sub thief and do what I do, but better. At 75, you are nothing more than a TH2 whore.

Now, I bolded the word perfect for a reason. You didn't need to clarify any specifics, just that the party is perfect with the assumption its full of WAR and MNKs. Didn't mention a place, level, SC, or anything else. It's just always perfect. That's the problem. You and everyone else know it's perfect, not because you are brainwashed into thinking it is, but because it is. There are very few situations where that grouping will fail. Now, you can argue all you want about SAM, DRG, PLD, and THFs forming an experience party and getting decent experience, but there are two problems with that. They will never get anywhere near as much exp as the cannon party and that's assuming they can even form a party at all. Why would a RDM, BRD or WHM care to join that party when they can just wait around for an easy cannon and get twice as much exp without the effort.

I am not advocating making all the jobs the same, but SE should consider making it possible for all jobs to form parties for decent experience without having to conform to some perfect standard. Maybe make mobs that certain jobs excel in damage over another. Maybe the type of weapon or the job abilities used, but soemthing to even the experience situation for everyone.

PLD+THF= sucks pld does not need a thf
Some people would lv with them for fun heck i will now i done all my exping and into merits :D

You can easily get 5k/hr without a ninja, monk, warrior, or bard. Isn't that decent exp?

And what happens when you "even the experience situation" while not balancing out solo, HNM, and every other aspect of the game? Some jobs excel at things that make for faster exp, and that gets them more exp invites. Some jobs excel at HNM fights, which gets them more invites into HNM shells. Some jobs excel at solo'ing mobs, which gets them more gil if they choose to farm. If you want everyone to be the same, you need to take away 17 jobs.

wow... if you cannon and cannot keep both bllads up you need to quit. That statements proves that you fail on the easiest job in the game.

I always skipped Ballad I in a good party, especially a roaming one. When it comes down to it, I'd rather keep the chain going at 50+ than make sure the healer has that extra 1mp/tick at 80% mp.

Partying should be a vague term, after all, it constitutes a vast majority of what you do in this game. You don't have one type of party and one type of mob to excel in, you have hundreds with hundreds of different ways to excel. But the game doesn't have that. There is no diversity when one job excels in all things exp related. No exceptions. One tactic that works in end game doesn't work for all end game. Exp shouldn't be any different.

If everyone excels in different exp mobs, that doesn't make them all the same. But if it did, would it matter? Are you suggesting the alternative to getting good exp (everyone is MNK or WAR) is any better? And in comparison, all jobs excluding PUP and DRG have some area they are needed or excel in at end game. Whereas, you look at exp, a majority of jobs don't excel at anything exp. Just MNK, WAR, NIN and BRD. Plus when you get invited to end game, they can work the strategy around your job versus an exp party where they work around by just not inviting you.

And no, 5k isn't considered decent when a cannon can easily pull twice that. A year ago 3k was considered the bare minimum for a party and now 5-6k is the minimum.
