Yhatzee's review was half-expected, but he made a few points I disagree with. It must also be viewed in the light that he's playing it from the perspective of the general gamer.
First, cinematics: Yes, they're long. But they were a) needed to finish off the series and b) greatly wanted by fans, because they (and myself) really really like the story of Metal Gear, and want as much of it as we can cram into our brains. Yes, on average they're a little long (Especially with the mission briefings, but they can be viewed at any time, plus have an interactive component to them)
Now, what I wasn't expecting was his critique of the gameplay, which to me was superb. I think the only way you can find a problem with the controls is if you treat the game like a shooter, which it is very much not. Sure, on the easy modes you can just blast your way through the levels in a fashion which would make Master Chief of Nathan Hale proud, but if you're playing it that way you're, to quote the internet, doing it wrong. After playing on BBE, I can safely say that the controls are indeed perfect, and that you do in fact use every single stealth ability in his toolbox, and wish you had more.
Also, the story itself was epic, and everyone who doesn't think so can go suck a lemon.
