Midgardsormr + Quetzalcoatl = New Quetzalcoatl!

Speaking as a member of Midgardsormr, I can say that most of the members of my social and end-game shells are more upset that some will have to change their names and that's pretty much it.

I used to run (sometimes still help out) a Dynamis Shell and really like the calendar system that is here and I know the shell will plan on using it as soon as possible. On Midgard, there have been issues with certain shells ganking a zone without an afterthought. I just hope most (if not all) shells use this and not ruffle any feathers.

Anyways, I do look forward to the merge. The environments will be the same, but there will be new people to help out and so forth.

Yeah, I'm not especially looking forward to the process of leveling my subs. For some reason the idea of taking 3-4 jobs from 75 to 99 actually somehow rather entertaining, but the idea of doing significantly LESS work to level a half-dozen or so subs to 49 just irritates me.

I think it's the feeling that it's all work being done to enable more work later, and the whole process of gearing/regearing/selling said gear over and over again that bugs me. Though I've noticed that with level sync people are actually disturbingly forgiving of shoddy gear. I've not indulged in that fact to this point, but I may start if it gets profoundly irritating to level certain jobs...

I agree as far as relvling subs and then my sam to 99, but we're getting off topic.

True. We need some Midgardians to come into this thread and complain with us. Few things are as bonding as shared misery.

Misery loves company, so it's said.

I already hate lvling subs to 37 for a job, now I gotta lvl them again. And subs of subs (like nin in my case for my war sub).

Hi All,

Hahah /complain

From Midgard, in a way SE completely screwed us over, personally it would have been better if the server merge/eviction notice was more of a Midgardsormr + Quetzalcoatl = new server name (or one easier to spell they both suck to spell, come on twitter contest and spelling that on a phone). But with a new server name and making everyone start a new (yes that would suck) but would make it so it won't be a 'they are the new kid they play by our rules' thing, but try to work together to make a new set of rules.

As for Dynamis concerns, I've seen my share of zone jacking for Dynamis, which seems to be the main concern (other than losing their character names and ls breaks), but personally I haven't seen it happen in a while (or low server population being a factor to it).

I do think it'd be a welcome to have more people to xp with and a schedule is nice for dynamis, but what's the flexibility on it? Worried about having tons more people to camp stuff against and what's the endgame shell population like?

/Cheers

Well I think additional dynamis people may be just what this server needs, lately I've seen several shells have to merge with others due to low attendance and some shells are dying due to member inactivity, a fresh influx of dynamis people may be a shot in the arm for us all concerned.

Historically speaking, the problem is that too many shells cling to their old point systems, lotting priorities, and whatnot. New people don't want to join because they're starting at the bottom, older members don't want to reform the system because, well, they're on top, and ultimately a lot of dedicated Dynamis shells simply dwindle away until they don't have enough active members to make a viable shell. Fortunately, given that the average level of gear/merits slowly escalates over time, fewer people are needed to succeed, but it's still an issue.

As a co-leader of a Dynamis LS on Midgard, I can attest to the rampant "zone-jacking" that has occurred in the past on my server. However, with the dwindling population, the problem has been minimal to non-existent as of late.

I've just today signed up on these boards, and requested posting rights in the Dynamis Scheduling forum. I am very happy to be able to actually have some scheduling system to use to work with the other Dynamis LS leaders on Quetz. I can only hope that the other Dyna LS leaders on Midgard also see this as an excellent opportunity to start scheduling runs, and being civil about who is going to do which zone. I'm fully prepared to use this system to find zones that your existing LSes are not doing, so that the addition of my LS to your server will not interfere with your existing shell's runs.

I'd like to thank you for the opportunity to use this website, and also for the warm welcome that some of you are already offering.

I agree. They should instance it.

Anyway, hi =) Hopefully any problems can be worked out before there are headaches. I'm pretty scared about this since I do dyn and limbus; this is asking for it, two servers with two diff ways of doing things coming together like this.

I also hope to blue blinking blazes that CurseTheYagudo, FantasyInsanity, WeSayHurray, ShikgamiWeapon and JingZen aren't taken as LS names. (I got friends in all those shells here and it'd feel WIERD to see a diff name and I bet it'd make some people really upset. Those are all pretty well known socials on Midgard, CTY is as old as the server! And SW is the big SMN ls over here, and I'm a sack in that.)

It's gonna be a mess for CurseTheYagudo as it is. Our shellholder, Linmayu, quit the game a while back. (Don't ask, something RL, had nothing to do with the updates) Someone is gonna get a new LS as it is so we can remake..but I didn't want it to happen like that :( Please don't let it be worse..

Now this is the attitude I like to see!

I wish I can welcome you all to the server on the game, but you missed me by about a month! However, welcome to all Midgardsormrers! Hope to see you guys around the boards and if you guys are nice enough then we'll try to make the move as painless as possible for you guys as it will be for us! =D

Why cant I find a server I can spell :(

Taking a quick peek at the dynamis schedule Ive noticed the weekdays have few shells so should be minimal issues but like you our Saturdays are cluster f&^Cs , if most shells from midgar stick together then Saturday will easily be doubled in the amount of shells competing for zones, with only 10 zones to pick it might get a little messy.

I'm actually really excited about these new folks. When Rappa and I left the game we left a lot of friends. When we came back, most of them had left. We only have a few friends left. I'm excited to meet new people. The entire server should be happy about it. YES, there may be some assholes coming over, but this isn't just an ls full of server transfers this time. It's an entire server. An entire community. It might be time we change some things. We can't expect them to come over here and and have to change everything. They are losing a lot in this move. Yes, it's SE's fault, but we should welcome every single one of them with open arms. If they don't schedule dynamis and we constantly flame them for it.. we are in the wrong. That's how they do things. If all of them don't wanna do it our way they shouldn't be forced to. I love the dynamis scheduling, but it might be time we change things a little. These new comers aren't just people from another server. They are soon to be members of the Quetz community. Some people from either side might not like that, but that's what's happening. Everyone should look at it as an opportunity instead of looking at it and saying, "we've had problems with server transfers before." Those problems were never that bad. Quetz is a great place with a lot of wonderful people, and I'd like to think we're about to get a lot of other wonderful people who operate a little differently than we do. I'm excited for us and sad for them. There's something comforting about seeing "Welcome to Quetzalcoatl" every time I log in. I feel for them. /welcome Midgard ppl. Glad to see some of you on QCDN, and I really hope to see you all in game soon.

Treasa of Midgardsormr here.

I'm still stressed due to the pending merge. SE handled this TERRIBLY! I feel so slighted. My home is being ripped away from me as I'm forced world shift. A merge would have been giving the two worlds an entirely new name and finding a way such that people wouldn't have to change linkshells and names. *shakes angry fist at SE*

I too have concerns about dynamis, but I believe that my shell will be working with the scheduling system. Cursed Dynamis-Bastok you hold my final piece!

People still do dynamis lol? I guess if this is true having some sort of schedule seems best. Kind of a stupid thing to fight about in this day and age. I think when this Abyssea stuff is introduced people won't be doing dynamis as often and it won't be as big a deal. I look forward to some new faces and I feel for them as it would suck to have your home server disappear. But, with that in mind, the new transfers will have to respect what we already have here. I've been on this server nearly 6 years and I think Quetzalcoatl has one of the best server communities out there-QCDN is a testament. Respect on both sides will make it work out. I haven't experienced any anti-Midgard sentiment and I hope others don't either.

Well, I was talking with Orinna via AIM, and I think I'd better tell ya: Most of midgard is pretty nice people. Lemme relate a story, guys that happened last week before the bomb got dropped.

First thing you gotta understand, I'm 96+2 cooking and that's how I make most of my gil (I tend to make yellow curry buns and coeurl subs, depending on the market. I'd <3 to do tav tacos for more than friends but I have had a horrible time getting the fish. Mebbe that'll change after the merge, I hope?) I'd gotten the farmables, and had warped to Jueno where my HP is (I had a brain fart) so since our conquest was screwy-wompus (We'd been having a newbie zone war for about 3 weeks), I got on the airship to bastok.

There was this WHM there along with someone I knew. A whm I'd never seen before, that is. That whm was in a noble's tunic, shield, some club, and relic pants/shoes. She said she was from I think it was Cerebus? (Serious brain fart there.) And she'd gotten hacked. Lost almost EVERYTHING that wasn't nailed down. I gave her some security advice (the sad part was she'd been using firefox with the trimmings I understand) and gave her the whm club salute, as well as sympathized with her.

When we parted after she took stock of the damage, she said this...

"Wow. People here are nicer than on my server."

...So please, don't be scared of us. We have our asshats, I think every server does. But the average joe here is pretty darned nice. ^^ Hopefully we can fit right in!

Greetings to you all!

My name is Northstar, leader of a Dynamis Linkshell named Howitzer on Midgardsormr.

Let me introduce my group to you. We been doing this event for more than 3 years now under my banner, and I have 6 years of experience in the event as a whole. We are very friendly and civilized : we just like having plain fun, get the equipement we need, and get relics for certain people that been in the group for a long time. We would like to make the merge completly dramaless.. but I need to know how things work over there. Midgard been my home for about 8 years. A few of us are losing our identity over it, including myself. Its going to be a difficult transition :(

In Midgard, we de not have any set schedual for Dynamis. Although there would be many friendly links between linkshells and leaders that goes on the same times and on the same days. That means we would leave the zone to other groups when asked kindly, or we would random when both groups would gather at the same time and choose another destination at the last second if said random is lost.

Personally, I have a lot of people that cannot always make runs, so I go with low men ( 18-20 people ) from time to time. What im trying to explain is.. we wouldnt always go in Xarcabard with 18-20 people ( due to lack of Healers, tanks, etc ) even if thats what we schedual. We would actually turn around, warp to tavnazia and do that zone instead if its not taken. Our group is actually pretty good with CoP zones as well. We are pretty versatile, which means we wouldn't clog cities and northland zones all the time. Following a completly set schedual might be a bit difficult for Howitzer, but we are willing to give our best to make it work :)

I understand we are technically "invading" your server.. Believe me, this wasn't our idea. I hope everything goes for the best and that everything works for both Midgardsormr and Quetzalcolt players :)
