Monk. Bandwagon Job of 2006

WSM, the problem with doing it in an LS party, is that it's not gonna be enough. That's 30 days to get 3 99 orbs, by your logic. Now I dunno about you, but I can't think of any LS that wants to do a KSNM99 run only 3 times and only benefit one person. That BLM-burn I saw a while back did like 15 runs. So to be realistic, let's quadruple the amount of orbs needed before the LS gets off its lazy ass and does the KSNM99 (x12). Loses the first 3 due to various stupidity... Now it's 9 chances for the item. And lotting against other members. Kinda like you have to do at the real Fafhogg, y'know? Oh wait! Now we gotta do it 2 more times for the other 2 items! So that's... 4 months times 3... A full year. Yea.... Again, I stand by my claim that a WAR can get a Ridill faster than a MNK can get a Black Belt.

Again, it takes MNK as long, if not longer, to get a Black Belt than it does a WAR to get a Ridill. In a vacuum, Ridill will outperform Black Belt, because one is a weapon, and the other isn't. But FFXI is not a vacuum, people wear gear in another 12-15 slots. And with those slots, Black Belt outperforms Ridill. Hell, Brown Belt comes close, if you look at my parse instead of going OMGPARSEMUSTBEWRONG!
I feel like talking to a wall.lol now u are talking about losing and winning chances n all that crap. And lots of ls's do sponsored KSNM runs.I know several NA monks with blackbelts and the ones who "Payed" jp ls-s to lot on some of their items.Tell me when someone lets you lot on a ridill with moneyAnd when did chances of losing and winning and all that crap come? tons of people have 300 KSNM but not even 10 percent of em would have a 10 percent claim rate at Fafnire.
We aren't talking about slots we are talking about dmg.The 6 more haste and 5 str simply stands no chance against a War with ridill. And i havn't discussed the ridill kraken club combo yet for vorpal blade spam

You're arguing against documented evidence that says you're wrong, based on nothing more than some baseless opinion you've formed. Come back with the parsed data to prove that ridil war > black belt monk. If you're not going to bother getting any kind of evidence, then there's no reason at all to believe you, especially when there's proof in ikari's parser. He's not a decked-out monk, but he's doing about 1.5% less damage than the ridil war with adaman hauberk, so obviously that gap will decrease as Ikari gets better gear. There's the proof in black and white, while you have nothing but conjecture on your side.

This is my Parser
Ridill Warrior # 1

Since you want me to believe in ikari-s parser u better believe mine too.i'm not buying it till i get to see it my self that a mithra monk is out dd-ing a ridill warrior lol

fine then let me post parser results of my own.

Mithra monk with black belt: 51% of total damage
Elvaan ridil war: 49% of total damage

There's the same level of "evidence" you posted, will you shut up now?

You're not even going to bother looking for any evidence, you're not going to try parsing a ridil war vs. a black belt monk, you're just making shit up for no reason. Black belt > Ridil, get over it already.

If you're not going to believe someone else's parsed results, then get a ridil, get a parser and go pit yourself against a monk with a black belt. Until you do, stop talking.

Any discrepancies of participation are completely nullified by the simple fact that nobody gives a damn about the total damage each person deals. In my last party, I had two WARs that were parsing almost exactly equal... 25.46% and 25.76% of each fight's damage, or so. WAR A disconnected for about 10 fights. At the end of the parse, 180 battles or so, those two WARs were at 25.36 and 25.87%. I dont' remember the exact numbers, but those are very close. WAR B had several thousand total damage more than WAR A, but the numbers were very close, because it's the percent-damage-per-fight that matters. My numbers were skewed too, because I cheated with Hundred Fists towards the end, giving me a bunch extra total damage. But my per-fight damage didn't move even .1%.

Moral of the story: Large samples = somebody needs to DIE, and I mean IRL, to throw off the parser to any large degree.

Of course a parser will be slightly in someone's favor, because you can't garuntee the log will contain every hit done by other people. But it'll be damn close. And as for the argument of "well they could just pull some bullshit numbers out of their ass and post those"... well, those are bullshit numbers. Posting a parser file, on the other hand, is as close to fact as you can get. There's no fuckin' way somebody's going to recreate the volumes of data that a parser file has, all for the sake of making their e-wang feel bigger, and if somehow they do, it's gonna be obvious.

But the thing is this still proves nothing. I've partied in in rampage parties where I can easily outdamage certain members over all with worse gear. I could have parsed the entire fight and said "Crap gear was greater than elite gear" or whatever I wanted to prove, but the fact of the matter was the other players happened to be dumb. The person used rampage as soon as he had TP (which is usually how a rampage party works) but I waited to use mine. I was smarter just because I could notice when the crab used its stoneskin and chose to wait the two seconds until after it was dispelled to get the most out of my WS. Does this mean the parser is defective? No. It means you need to actually read deep into the information to pick out what is useful or perhaps none of it is useful.

Also what I meant when someone dies or DCs was they would do it mid battle. In those cases the information about average damage percentage would be reduced because they still participated in the fight, but not for the entirety. The parser (as far as I know) won't give that information and it's up to the user to include it.

There is also the debate about gear. A job is only as good as it's gear essentially. Of course a BB toting, SH wearing MNK is gonna outparse a onion sword wield noob, but again does that parser tell us that? No. But where do I draw the line on equality to compare the job? A BB isn't exactly easily obtainable nor is an adaman hauberk. Where is it considered even? Do we compare a rich MNK and a poor WAR? A poor MNK and rich WAR? Or maybe a rich MNK and WAR? Does a rich WAR = a rich MNK? The answer isn't exactly obvious nor is there one perfect answer. A warrior with an adaman hauberk is gonna out parse most MNK, but give the MNK a BB and he'll start to out parse the WAR. All I am suggesting is you cannot suggest MNK > X job because of a parser. You can say MNK with this gear > X job with that gear with proof from a parser.

Don't you two get it? mai n Ikari i'm not buying your parser results unless i was there my self.Period

Not to mention if a mage tends to haste one player more than the other.Factors like that are gonna change anyone's position in a parser no matter how much dmg hes doing.Like lavi sadi if a guy ws's on a mob that has stoneskin on he'll obviously hit for less.Blackbelt is piece of cake... many NAs have it already while ridill is still one of the hardest items in game to acquire besides relic weapons.I've seen warriors with ridills in my alliances and i've seen how no one can even tank them on Mobs like the ones in exp zones and in limbus etc.On same hand i've been in a party with a black belt monk and i didn't see anything that would impress me the least.Next time invite me and a ridill warrior n then i'll have my own parser with me... then lets see how wrong you are

There, discussion over.
End result? we all got usefull information on Why a BB MNK> Ridil WAR
Except WSM, who just shouted things at his opponents that have no relation, and we're all dumber for it.

he uses it. He just seems to think it means he gets to add MORE words, instead of fixing the current ones.

I think, next time I build a party, I'm going to invite Jamal and Achelois.

Except that Achelois has basically no H2H merits yet.

Bummer.

How the hell do you do that, unless you just hit 75?

Crit+4% first, then HtH+16. Thats what every monk should do, because that 8th increase to HtH = base damage +1.

Because he spent a lot of time building up money and leveling Ninja and White mage, and put his points into Evasion and other things before H2H skill.

Edit: Oh and getting Sky gear, and some land HNM gear *cough*blackbelt

He went and took NIN and WHM to 75, didnt merit alot.
We're trying to persuade him to merit more <,<

Hmm.. I've seen prolly 8-10 Ridill... In my entire life I've seen one Black Belt.. on a JP Mithra..
ALL Endgames spam Faffy... How often do people do KS99?

What WSM probably doesn't realize, is that while Ridill might not be commonly dropped, you don't need to tackle all 3 kings to do it. Also consider that about once every 8 days, theres a chance for Ridill to not drop at all. As opposed to about once every 8 days, a complete black belt set is around. Notice: Not necessarily a complete black belt. Just a complete set.

Also I'm not saying that ones more rare than the other, just putting up the chance for either to be obtained.
