New FMA Anime - Dub cast announced. Thanks Funi!!! =)

I've never touched FMA and I don't even know where to start. I guess the first anime and then this new anime since this new one will cover the manga.

You can start on either one. The way it's lookin' is they don't go hand in hand (you wont miss anything from startin' with the new version). Obviously though if you're familiar with the first series you'll already know most of the characters and some of the plot lines but it's not like a season 1 into season 2 type deal. The new version they are puttin' out seems to be made in the sense that the first was a complete fuck-up and they'd like to re-start the series as a whole. I could be wrong, as I'm not a fan nor do I keep up, but considerin' this is a popular franchise there is a lot of chatter on the net surroundin' it and I'm goin' off of what I've read.
 
I wouldn't worry about the sticking to the manga thing yet. If the two anime's started the same way it would be rather stupid. Though I am worried that ling and the others werent in the opening.

Give it time. The Opening animation is foreshadowing a lot. Episode 2 is gonna go into their pasts and episode 3 is Lior. They had even shown Father in episode 1.

What I think is, episode one was the message to the fans say "We're not gonna screw with the story this time."

Ling doesn't show up for quite a few chapters anyway. Most anime openings only reflect the current cast. It'd be like being worried they didn't show Olivia Armstrong.
 
Where can I find the episodes? and Boo the FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST OP 1 - again by Yui.. was removed :(

gah, sorry about that. Well, in any case though it's really easy to find the opening sequence, hell even the full song was easy to find. As for episodes, sorry, I only stream rather than download.

Not entirely. The had shown Father during the episode. Their sticking with the plot of the manga. Besides, they don't exactly want to start the 2nd anime exactly the same as they did with the 1st. It's like what Z.Z said earlier, it's be stupid for the two anime to start the exact same way. The only anime that can get away with it would be Dragonball Kai's run.

I disagree. They should follow the manga precisely and stop making up their own inferior content.

And it shouldn't be animated, because if it's animated, it's not precisely following the manga, and is therefore inferior.

Seriously dude, it's been ONE episode. Shut off the computer, take a few deep breaths, take a walk, come back in a few weeks. Give it a few episodes before you take up the pitchforks and start foaming at the mouth that it's not the manga storyline. Any transition from a book format to a fixed-time television format is going to have some changes.
 
Don't let one filler episode that was full of refrences to manga only things and didn't shoot any holes in the manga story ruin your hopes for this series.

Inferior content? Wow, take the stick out of your ass man. Chill. It was one episode. So what, they changed when Ed and Al met a few characters. Oh noes, the whole story is ruined.

Personally I thought the episode was pretty badass.

They aren't going to start the second series exactly like the first, that would be stupid. What was in the episode, the explosive feel of the action, the tense drama-esque moments, the comedic moments about Ed's height and confusion on who's really the FMA. Everything that is FMA was in that episode. It roughly reintroduced nearly all of the main characters and kept their characters perfectly intact. It introduced one bad guy who could be and was killed off and still wouldn't effect the story any, while using said bad guy to introduce a few other villan characters that are already in existance in the FMA universe.

I was referring to the previous series as well, Bones also made it.
 
They're not going to go away from the manga's plot. They might change a few things around, but it's still going to be the same plot, which makes it absolutely worth it to me.

I hope you realize the episode was just a way to introduce a lot of favorite characters all at once, and the series hasn't really started yet. After all. Most people watching probably watched the first run, so seeing their favorite character now is a real treat for them, rather than many episodes down the road.

I get that, now; but I wasn't expecting it. I just got pissed that they started with filler, and probably over reacted about it.

It was hard for me to like this episode, as I really enjoyed the original series.
